  1. Its finnaly come time to get a new headset to replace my poor 5 years old Turtlebeach Stealth 300s. The mic is dying, one of the ear pieces are starting to break off and I have to hold the cable in the right spot for it to work. It has definetly served me well though as I orginally used it on my Xbox before I went to PC, Ive used them for just about everything really, and it still sounds just as good as they day I got it, well, when it works. I orginally got a pair of JBL Quantum 600s to use as my new headphones but It sucked so bad I returned them the next day! Which really sucked because I use JBL headphones and Speakers as my daily headphones and I was expecting the same sort of quality. The Microphone started peaking out with just a raised voice. The volume was so quite I had to turn every damn volume adjuster to the max to just hear anything. And overall just sounded worse than my old headphones! It sounded like all the diffrent tones just washed each other out and it could only handle one sound/tone at a time which really sucked when trying to listen to music. Even when I tried to adjust the sound profiling with the equalizer through the software that comes with it I couldnt get it to sound right, it was close but it just wasnt there and still sounded off. What was worest of all was when you tried to use the surround sound with it! It was like sitting in an empty kind of echoy room listening through TV speakers that surrounded you, but like not at the right distance either so It somehow sounded too close and far away at the same time! Anyway enough ranting. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for a new headset within the 100 - 200 (AUS) dollar mark? I primarily just listen to music and play games like Escape from Tarkov and Overwatch
  2. Well the question is in the title, but if you want the full story here you go! I recently had my current monitor broken whilst rearanging my room. It was a LG 29UM69G-B 29.0" 2560x1080 75 Hz Monitor which has since been disconntuined. And im consdiering on getting an upgrade rather then just a replacement. Ive already picked out the monitors im looking at, both for a replacement and an upgarde. Im just not sure if my GPU (RTX 2060) could handle 1440p ultrawide. Im not looking for massive FPS but if its at least above 60FPS im happy.
  3. Its a bad GPU, Ive had this problem myself a while ago. The PC doesnt actually crash itself just what ever is being displayed and with a second monitor going off a diffrent GPU everything is fine on its side. Sadly I was never able to find a way to fix it. Just had to replace it
  4. For some reason I get random disconnects from my ethernet, the wifi works perfectly fine its just the etherenet. Ive checked the cable, replaced the cable, checked the wall adapter, replaced the wall adapter, tried using a diffrent wall socket, checking the router, turning the routrer on and off, checked the wall adapter at the router side, replaced the wall adpater at the router side, tried connecting to the router itself, updated the drivers, unistalled and reinstalled the drivers, checked that windows 10 hadnt had it set to "turn off to save power" or eco mode or what ever its called. It doesnt even have an option for it! Its really annoying as Im getting random disconnects in a games I play, in discord other people in a call cant hear me for a few seconds and then im back. The network controller is a Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller in a Dell G7 17 7790. Its not anything serious and only happens every few days. but more often when im playing games, and even MORE often when im playing escape from tarkov. But thats likely just because of the game at that point cause everyone knows how touchy it is.
  5. Thats actually part of the design im going for lol. Im getting a corsair H5 sf as the pump, rad and fans for it lmao
  6. Budget (including currency): ??? AUD Country: Australia Im looking for a CAD designer to help me design a custom waterblock for my laptop im planning on turning into a watercooled gaming frakenstein. Its a G7 17 (7790) that has an i7-9750H and RTX 2060 in it and I use it alot for gaming and other general uses. Although I dont play any super intesive games it still get very very hot due to the Aussie heat and poor cooling design from Dell. Even with the undervolt I have on it (-0.128V), any lower and it becomes unstable over long term. Its constantly bordering thermal throttling and can never boost too its max boost clocks because of it. Ive dabbled into designing one myself using Autodesk Fusion 360 but its simply not my forte. If any of you have seen or go look at my other posts you will know that I have been looking to do this for a while and Im also looking to put and a better CPU in it which would just make things even hotter. Before any of you start blasting this topic with just get a new laptop or get a new computer or anything like that please note that I do not wish to get a new laptop or computer. I am aware of the risks and costs. I just want to make a custom laptop cause I can and it would be cool. I have put some thought into the waterblocks design and the whole watercooling loop but need the help of someone who could assit in making it a reality. Im obviously willing to pay, even more so if you could help me get it properly fabricated too. Any help is appreciated ^^
  7. Im pretty sure you can get them from OEM stores, but most places ive found online look either sketchy or are in a diffrent language
  8. I dont want to sell the a laptop and get a new one. as I plan on modifying it a bunch anway. Im gonna water cool it along with a few other things
  9. So you're probably wondering why I want a laptop CPU Long story short I want to upgrade my laptops CPU I am aware of the diffuicult of the task and I have done all the required reseach for compadability and support. The only issues I will have is the inability to overclock due to the BIOS, which I am okay with as I want the higher binned CPU anyway and further down the line I might decide to find a way around it. For now though all I'll be doing is usoldering the old CPU (i7 9750H) and soldering on the new one (i9 9980HK). I'll probably even get a professional to do it for me For those who are wondering what the laptop in question is; its a Dell G7 17 (7790), i7 9750H, RTX 2060, 16 GB Corsair Vengence RAM
  10. damn well that sucks. But thanks for the help though!
  11. I have a 9750H, but wouldnt unlocking using the method the guy is talking about be able to by pass that? Or is that another step further? because I know they are locked via micro coding (as far as I know), what I dont know is the method hes unlocking it would change that.
  12. Sorry for the late reply, but damn you were right! Thank you so much! I went back to the factory settings and now im able to undervolt! Im sorry for doubting you. Thanks so much for the help! Im gonna try that USB flash one as unlocking overclocking sounds sweet as hell. Thank you so much! I actually checked through all of the settings in the BIOS between the defult setting and the factory setting and theres no diffrence, theres obviosuly some background stuff happening with it. Which makes it feel really cheasy. But either way it works so thank you very much!
  13. I havent tried that yet however I dont think it will do much... Its dell were talking here, their BIOS has less options then Mac
  14. I want to adjust my laptops voltages and I personally dont see plundervolt as a risk in my case. I have nothing of value on my laptop and dont use it for anything other then gaming, I dont save any passwords on it and there is little to no reason for a hacker to bother hacking me. So I dont want to have the voltages locked because my laptop gets really really hot, Im using a Dell G7 7790, so its nothing new. the undervolts I had prior to the patch increased my laptops performace by roughly 20% and I would really like to get that back as I am no getting large amounts of stuttering in games without it. I have tried downdating the BIOS back to when I was able to adjust voltages but for some reason Im still not able to adjust anything. what do I do?
  15. I know this is a pretty late reply but god damn that sucks... stupid intel screwing up their own secruity and making us all suffer... ugh. thanks though this was really helpful
  16. My laptop has just finished doing a bunch of driver and software updates adressing the whole Intel security mishap and as always with Dell they "fix" something they break something else. ThrottleStop has now suddenly stopped working and my undervolts and other settings have just suddenly stopped applying. Which is a real bummer as my laptop, G7 17 (7790), like most others of the same model get hot enough to boil water. How long would I be waiting for the developer of ThrottleStop to address this new issue? Their an amazing developer and in my opinion the best thing thats happened for all laptops out there. But I have a feeling as if this issue is only going to apply to Dell users so Im not too sure of its priority...
  17. I see... Is there anything I can do to help increase all core performance however?
  18. RAM sticks arent specific for single dual or quad channel its just what the motherboard has. You can use any RAM stick really as long as its the right interface. but if you get a dual channel kit and you only have one channel youre essentially wasting the other stick cause theres not a spot for it on the motherboard. In all honesty mate the upgrade isnt worth it if you want to get better performace id recommend getting a better laptop or a tower. Cause towers give you way more ability to upgrade and swap parts and the only thing you can really "upgrade" on your laptop would be giving it more RAM (but as I mentioned before doesnt actually give you that much more performace increase if any at all) and the harddrive which half the time you cant even upgarde that either.
  19. Does the laptop have single channel or duel channel? sometimes manufactours only preinstall 1 stick even though there are 2 channels That being said though I have a doubtful feeling that adding more RAM wont help that much in your case. Most games only need 8GB. Its only when youre doing alot of multitasking, or playing really large games with alot of detail you would need more then that. (example: escape from trakov)
  20. So I recently got a Dell G7 17 (7790) and although I have had a few issues with Dell's preinstalled softwares (which Ive gotten rid of and now its fine) Ive for the most part had no issues with it. I noticed that whilst under loads It was getting hot, very hot. 100 C and above hot. It was an wasy quick fix, intsalled throttle stop and put an undervolt on it (145.5mV) and poof havent seen it get above 90 C since. But, for some reason the boost clocks didnt go up. They stayed at 3.97Ghz which is what I was getting when it was without a undervolt and still very hot. Even through the CPU (i7-9750h) was capable of 4.5Ghz. I see very occasionally a single core spike up to more around that frequency but whenever its actually under a load it stays at 3.97Ghz. Throttle stop's reading is saying that its not reaching any power or thermal limits. So I cant help to wonder what it is. Do any of you guys have an idea?
  21. Ahhhh okay that answers my question thank you. So it wont limit its turbo speed itll just flat out crash gottcha. Thanks!
  22. I know about thermal throttling, which of couse unervolting helps. I probably should have been more specific, I mean does it limit tutbo boosting from creating a power limit
  23. Does Undervolting limit Turbo Boost capabilities? I know it helps with thermal headroom and allows it to boost better and longer. But what Im wondering is will undervolting cause a power limit It feels like such a dumb question but a simple google seach has just been giving me unrelevant information or just really vague answers that dont really answer my question.
