  1. Isn't the higher price per inch also because of yields and that kind of stuff related to manufacturing? I feel like they talked about this in some other video about a large screen. Or maybe I'm confusing it with CPU's and GPU's that use silicon wafers.
  2. Well if it's the android handheld, that's pretty much all you have, and it would be better than installing windows on it. For referencee, the snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is significantly faster than the spandragon g3x gen 1 in the razer handheld and it can just about run older games like batman arkham asylum, and even older games like that might not work fully, not because of bad performance, but because lack of support and drivers leading to graphical glitches or even worse. A steam deck running windows would be 10 times better, it has gotten better, you can watch the video below to see what windows on steam deck is like and the process of installing it, and below that there's another video of Windows on Arm, the person there is running a laptop with a snapdragon 8cx gen 3.
  3. I think originally the steam deck lacked proper Windows support, but it has improved since and it still works great with linux on it. You can also look at other handhelds at a similar pricepoint that you can find on the market. Or if it doesn't have to be a handheld, laptops are also an option.
  4. The steam deck. A used one. I can easily find in my area steam decks under 300$. I can even find some on eBay
  5. As far as I know it's an android handheld with qualcom arm chips. It'll barely run windows as it is, if you can even get it installed on the device. Arm support on Windows still sucks, and the translation layer isn't that performant. I'd personally recommend to try and find a steam deck or similar device running an x86 cpu if you intend to run those games.
  6. I mean it technically is if you're not familiar already and haven't read the manual. The bios screen is usually up for a second or less giving you pretty much no time to read, and in some devices, there isn't even any indication on what button to press on startup (usually laptops I think). So to an inexperienced person it isn't immediately obvious what they need to do.
  7. They can't, database leaks involve the data that sony has about you, things like emails, passwords (usually encrypted), purchases, credit card info (also usually encrypted) and anything else sony might store. Obviously if you don't provide CC info then that won't get leaked.
  8. A used iPhone might be worth a consideration if they're willing to deal with the differences, might be able to get a 13 for around 200. I'm personally using a 12 that I'm still satisfied with. If you must buy new you do have a fairly narrow choice for that budget, you're looking at an A15 or A25 if you must have a Samsung Phone. There's a few Nokia's around that price that might also fit the bill. They do run a fairly stock android experience, something like an X30 looks like a decent choice.
  9. If you're a student it ends up nearly half, given it's like 5$ per month.
  10. You can use a pi-hole instead. All you need is a raspberry Pi SBC, could be a Pi Zero 2W if you want to save some money. They're only 15$, and are useful for other things(you'll also need some other accessories but they aren't particularly expensive, mentioned in the video). Then set it up, there's probably newer guides on this but the LTT video is worth a watch. Then, once set up, it'll filter all the ads on all devices on the network, be it your xbox, smart TV or smartphone, as long as it's connected to your home network. It's also configurable, if you want to block ads only on certain devices, or block ads only from certain sources you can.
  11. Unfortunately that's pretty bad, especially with a keyboard with soldered in switches, 2 thing are happening, either the solder pads on the board are somehow bridged due to the spill, or worst case scenario the sticky stuff got in some switches meaning you're kinda screwed, but that's unlikely to happen given the shape of the switches and the keycaps protecting them. My advice would be to take it apart and scrub the board thoroughly, preferably also removing all the key caps as well so you can get in all the crevices.
  12. Not really, I don't think most people back then, or today wanted to run 6th or 7th gen cpus on their newer platform, given their cost and performance difference. It technically might be possible, but it would require someone to write a custom bios that would allow that kind of compatibility which hasn't hapenned yet as far as I know.
  13. idk, I use ubuntu extensively for development, and tried to install some other distros, but god damn does Linux not like secure boot, TPM and other similar features. I hate having to enrol random keys for secure boot, why doesn't Linux do it itself, why can Windows but Lindon't? Linux is definitely nice, and so far much more stable (the OS, doesn't always apply for some of the software I use) for me, but I'd find it hard to use it personally for gaming or using random somewhat obscure software or even more popular stuff, but it makes the perfect development environment.
  14. That's your particular use case. Most people in a casual audience don't have a 1000$+ gaming PC laying around or they don't know how to/are willing to deal with the hasles that come with owning a PC. There's a reason why TV streaming boxes are so popular, just the fire TV stick alone having sold over 200 million units, Roku with over 80 million active users as of 2023 and Android/Google TV with over 110 million users. They're cheap and easy to use, coming with an actual TV remote. Most people that I know that own a console also have either a Smart TV or some kind of TV stick that they use to stream media. Consoles are primarily gaming devices with media streaming coming at a distant 2nd, I don't think most people buy a 500$ console with streaming in mind. I can't find exact statistics for console users but generally it seems that mobile and TV viewing at least in 2023 accounts for about over 70% of viewership in the US for netflix. Other probably means consoles I'd imagine but I can't say for sure, but if that's the case then console viewership account for about 7% of the total.
  15. That was kind of end of generation. The Kinect came mid to late in the generation and it was a success as far as I can recall and did get people excited, it's what came afterwards that worked it's way into the next generation that ended up slowly killing Microsoft. The PS3 overtook the Xbox 360 in sales really late in the lifecycle, in early 2013 from what I can find the PS3 only just about overtook the Xbox 360 in sales by a few thousand units. It was after the kinnect released in about 2010-2011 where Microsoft started shifting their focus to a more casual audience, while Sony was still going full steam ahead with many exclusive titles, and a lot of multi platform games did run better on the Xbox 360 for a really long time, and that hasn't really changed as far as I know since I doubt developers went back to their legacy titles to patch them on the PS3 given that they could focus on making their newer titles better. Meaning that for some people the 360 was the better choice given that the established library of 3rd party games would just run better most of the time, even if all those 3rd party titles did also eventually come to the PS3. That's not even mentioning the massive data breach Sony suffered from in 2011 which ended up costing them 171 million dollars and ended up with the data of 77 million playstation 3 and psp users leaking, including passwords and also caused a network outage for nearly a whole month meaning no online play, or any kind of access to sony services. This, on top of the fact that Sony's online services were just objectively worse than Xbox live, even if it was free does bring it down a notch. That definitely tarnished Sony's reputation. So I can definitely see why someone would choose to rank the 360 above the PS3.
