  1. I did not expect FlexOptix to make an appearance on this channel. Their major customers are mostly big data centers and contractors, the idea would be they just buy these transceivers in bulk and they're reprogrammable to any different standards/firmwares needed for whatever hardware they're installing on-site. For the uninitiated they also sell pre-programmed transceivers so you don't necessarily need the FlexBox. I had the chance to meet the people behind FlexOptix at a fair, they also gave me a tour of their compound in Germany. They're really cool people who make really cool products.
  2. It's been exciting to get back into folding. Learned a lot from trying to setup FAH with docker
  3. Dear Linus, if you backup your phone over any other protocol but USB, it's almost always faster to do it over the network. The Android MTP sucks and that protocol is so slow that it's a literal bottleneck anyway, unless you're doing it with ADB protocol (faster but really hacky). Meanwhile running the backup over a network would not rely on installing any drivers and it'll work with modern file transfer protocols such as FTPS. And then there's Wi-Fi 7, which theoretically transmits up to 46 GBit/s btw, faster than theoretical max speeds of any USB 3.x revisions, losing only to USB4 speeds, which no phones in the market support anyways. Speaking of WiFi 7, only a handful of phones support it right now and an iPhone is not one of them . P.S. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro supports WiFi 7 P.P.S. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro lays flat on the table when not wearing a case
  4. I've recently upgraded to a 5700X. The 5800X3D now costs the amount I paid for the 5700X and the old Ryzen 2600 I had lost its value really quickly too. Not to mention with how inflation is going right now, it's even cheaper and the trend will remain so. Buying a CPU is like buying a car, it depreciates not by the miles it accumulated, but by its upgrade being priced the same as its predecessor. In fact, since CPUs don't get slower at all (software just becomes more demanding) they also lose value as demand over the same model decreases over time (as customers are anticipating a new model to come out soon). Computer components of today, not just CPUs, are also different compared to retro computers in the quantity it's sold in. I'm afraid it just won't be a collector's item either.
  5. Transfer speeds over cable is moot. Unless you're using your iphone as a 4k 60fps camera for live streaming or some sort, transferring files over WiFi would still be faster than plugging device A to B. Android has it even worse, it doesn't really matter what version of USB you have, it all communicates using MTP, a notoriously slow protocol. The solution I've found was to use FTP(S) over WiFi, using an app that hosts a server on your phone. It's so convenient to manage my media library and backing up photos is literally simpler than even Google Photos. I've previously discussed about it below:
  6. Odd, this seems to be the official website but you probably clicked on some malicious ad
  7. then change to the old PSU? what PSU and CPU are you using
  8. just go to disk management, delete the partition and create a new one with correct format. Otherwise if you still want to install a linux distro just format with Rufus as usual
  9. Seems like the most plausible answer. I can't even determine which heat sink this comes from, I looked at different coolers AMD used to bundle these past years, they're similar in size but not quite the same cut. But certainly it's not AMD Wraith Stealth that should've been bundled with it, now I feel scammed
  10. So I bought a pre-built with a 3300X which had this cooler on, which I eventually replaced with an AMD Wraith (I happened to have one lying around) but I have no idea what model this is. The spec sheet the builder wrote was "Standard AMD Cooler", but clearly this is not from AMD. The fan seems to be 80mm, very similar to an AeroCool Force 8, can't tell for sure because I didn't take it apart. It has 4 pin cable and clips on to the motherboard (the clips I removed to accommodate the new cooler I have installed). The heat sink is about 85mm x 85mm (3,34646 in x 3,34646 in). The heatsink doesn't resemble the shape of AeroCool BAS fans. I'm starting to wonder whether this is some frankenstein cooler the vendor made up Anyone got ideas? Btw are the brackets that the cooler mounts to part of the cooler kit or the motherboard? I want to get rid of this fan to be recycled or something but I'm not sure if the brackets are part of the kit.
  11. So Adobe allows the transfer of an Adobe product license, so theoretically you should be able to legally get your hands on a perpetual license of Adobe CS6 suite from someone else who has bought them previously. Now imagine the markups these old licenses could sell at. Never have I imagined that perpetual licenses of legacy software could increase in value over time.

    Airflow

https://www.gigabyte.com/in/PC-Case/GB-C200G#kf Looks good, but you might want to add a couple 140mm fans for intake in front to your prebuilt as it doesn't come with any. Optionally get a couple 120mm fans to exhaust upwards if you have enough fan headers (or get ones with extendable fan headers). My go to fans are Arctic F12 and F14 PWM fans, cheap and does the job well.
  13. Have you tried rolling back drivers to previous version?
  14. Zenfone 8 would be great if you can get it for about the same price of Pixel 6a. As for Pixel 6a, it has decent battery life. Its battery size on paper does not determine its actual battery life. Google actually did decent battery life management under the hood. The selling point Pixel has over Zenfone is its cheaper pricing and longer software support As for Samsung, only get it if you get a really good deal, they usually offer trade-in bonuses on top of price cuts, but you'll have to live with One UI so there's that. Sony was the most innovative in the smartphone scene back in the day along with LG, tho imo other brands have caught up and their software isn't necessarily the best either.
  15. Python is too slow for anything graphical. The only games made in python that ever took off are mostly visual novels, because Renpy. Developers can focus more on writing a good story than figuring out how coding works because it relies on python. If you want to do anything involving 3D, go learn C# or C++. C# will run your games, your OS, your peripherals, etc.
  16. Sounds like windows update going rogue. Maybe try run Disk Cleanup and see if it cleans all windows update cache (or go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything there) then install all latest updates. If required you can also download Windows 10 Update Assistant to install latest Windows 10 build. Ensure the driver you install is WHQL version, which is certified and signed, so that Windows Update hopefully doesn't touch it anymore.
  17. Just setup OpenVPN or WireGuard, it's free, it's better, and faster. Cisco AnyConnect is usually reserved for enterprise use cases where you have multiple users needing to tunnel to the same network.
  18. Compatibility Support Module (CSM) lets you boot legacy OS. Go turn that back on. You might've installed Windows 10 with an MBR partition (the old way). You should be installing your Windows using EFI (requires reformat/reinstall with CSM disabled), although using MBR is also fine for now but you won't be getting EFI features such as fast boot, secure boot, etc. You might be able to fix it this way but I recommend complete reformat/reinstall, especially if you don't have much data stored in the drive anyways. https://pureinfotech.com/convert-mbr-drive-gpt-enable-uefi-secure-boot-windows-11/
  19. Honestly would've been helpful if you could mention the exact phone model you have, which Android version it is running, etc. Generally what you want is to enable MTP (File transfer). When you plug in your device to your PC, there should be a notification that asks what do you want to do with the connection, it defaults to "charging only". Tap on that and change it to file transfer, see if it then appears on your PC. Otherwise you might have to install additional proprietary software like HiSuite, though usually this isn't necessary There's an app for that, WiFi FTP Server. Essentially it hosts a file server from your phone which you can access from your PC. I briefly discussed about it here. TL;DR it's faster and easier than USB and doesn't require installing drivers, also works cross-platform.
  20. Could be the DHCP settings on your network, usually if there's more than one conflicting DHCP servers in the same subnet. Try assigning an IP address and gateway manually see if that solves it
  21. Build another PC and sell for a markup. Could also be used as streaming PC or multimedia PC
  22. NVIDIA is still king in machine learning use cases, unfortunately. I'm really hoping AMD could catch up in that area, but at least with cheaper competition hitting the markets hopefully NVIDIA would cut prices sooner
  23. you can get away with a 600W PSU for a Ryzen 5600 and RTX 3060 unless you plan to upgrade down the road (like a year or two later). I switched a Vega 56 to an RTX 3060, not only it draws less power it's also faster. Who knows what we'll get in the future, but it'll likely be still far away to think about right now.
  24. What if instead of reinstall you just clone the old SSD to a new one?

    Fish?

Fish don't like sudden changes of temperature. It's just never going to work without an over-engineered solution to regulate the temperature constantly.
