  1. You can do so much better than them for half the cost (ie. what they are discounted to). See this review - link. These are more form over function to me. I'd look into Sennheiser 660S or my favourite Beyerdynaic DT1990 Pros however, there are so many other cans at this range to choose from...
  2. That is a FireWire 400 connector, FireWire 800 used a more square connector. I recall the differences as I had a Mac Pro with both. Not sure how easy it will be to work with a modern Windows installation, although if you get a IEEE1394/FireWire 400 card and the device has modern drivers you should be fine.
  3. I recommend taking a look at DasKeyboards. No fancy RGB or Macros (although they have a gaming line) but they are solid performers. I love my Ultimate 4, the USB 3 built-in hub is nice too. Been using it for 2 years now, no issues.
  4. I doubt you will be disappointed. I've have 2 MX Masters, one I keep in the office the other in my travel case. One of them was bought when they first came out and it is still absolutely perfect, minus wear to the buttons due to usage but that's pretty typical. I quite fancy buying the 2S because you can order a white version however, I think I'll wait until one goes out on me.
  5. Depends how seriously you take colour reproduction. I'd never use a TN display for pro photo work, I used accurate(ish) monitors for years (Apple Cinema Display 30" and Dell UltraSharps) however, compared to my current NEC monitor even they all pale in comparison with accuracy but the cost of them was 1/3. I've never thought about power consumption of a monitor to be honest although I doubt it would be anything that major...
  6. Dell UltraSharp monitors are actually really good. Would highly recommend them to anyone. Previous owned 24" and 30" models and were superb for the money.
  7. 1080p is usable on something like a laptop (13-15" screen) in Windows were scaling isn't great. On a dedicated monitor I'd prefer a minimum of 1920x1200. I currently have a 32" 4k monitor scaled to 3008x1692 in Mac OS which is a very nice bump over my previous 30" 2560x1600, 4k is unusable at native res though and in Windows it isn't great with scaling either.
  8. I'd say 5 years for a keyboard is pretty good going to be honest. I generally change mine every 3 years due to wear on keycaps and fancy an upgrade. Currently have a DasKeyboard 4 Ultimate and I certainly rate the build of these and the USB 3 hub is an excellent addition.
  9. The XPS 15 has a 100% AdobeRGB colour space monitor - if you select the 4k touch version. You can spec it (or add) upto 32Gb of DD4 however, the GPU is a nVidia 1050 on the 9560 version (older 9550 had a 960m). As it has been out for a while, you'll probably get a good deal on a used one if required.
  10. STAX although they are technically referred to as 'ear speakers'. I do like Audeze cans though and Shure IEMs (SE846s are outstanding).
  11. I'd lean more towards the MBP also if I were you, I'm also in the Apple eco-system and own a 2016 MBP (2.9 i7, 460 Pro, 1TB). As they've been out for a while now, check the refurb section of the Apple website and see if you can pick up a better spec model for the same price. A 512Gb drive will give you more flexibility in the long term if you want to do a Windows partition and/or VMs. You can also pick up any TB3 eGPU enclosure down the road with MacOS supporting them natively now too. Currently awaiting GeForce 10xx series OS X drivers though current Radeon cards are supported. I've never owned a Blade, although, did have a Blade Pro with the 1080 for over a month. I couldn't stand the constant whirr of the fans and during load or gaming it sounded like a jet and got seriously warm. I've used MacBook Pros since 2008 and never had an issue with one breaking down on me, if it did though I wouldn't worry too much about getting it fixed under warranty unlike a Razer product. MacBooks also hold their value ridiculously well...
