  1. if you have a modern core i CPU you should be able to use intel HD graphics to power a monitor and dedicated card for another. I would plug the 1440p to your dedicated gpu and the 1080p into your intel gpu.
  2. Have you tried putting your power saving settings to performance. maybe its throttling to save battery life. my 750m doesn't throttle even at 80c (which is what it maxes at when gaming) but I did set all my power saving settings to maximum performance. I also undervolted my cpu to help keep things cool.
  3. Don't think windows 8/8.1 increases max fps much if at all but it did help keep fps more constant according to some benchmarks. It helped with minimum fps. I think Linus made a video about this.
  4. The MSI is the faster of the 2. You would need to fully customize the HP to even try to catch up to the Msi gs70 but msi still wins with a more powerful gtx 765m graphic chip. Lenovo and Dell have some cheaper laptops with dedicated graphics compared to the other big name companies. I honestly dont know what you would need for computer engineering though sorry
  5. a 650 Ti Boost has the same specs as a 660 but with less cuda cores. If they did make a 750 Ti Boost it would probably be a 760 with less cores. the 760 is slightly weaker. There is an OEM 760 Ti that's a re branded 670.
  6. I would go with at least a 760. Games seem to be very well optimized for consoles. Your gonna want a gpu that's a bit faster than a consoles to pull off similar settings.
  7. Boot camps free but windows isn't. You have to get your own copy.
  8. I dont think this is true. I think SLI is pretty well supported now a days. @Op I would choose a 770 4gb and SLI in the future when needed. the 650 Ti Boost SLI are good but unless you can get them for pretty cheap, it would be better to get a single 770 (maybe a second later). I use 2x GTX 650 Ti Boosts and my only real complaint is Memory bandwidth. I noticed if I ever go over 1.5GB vram usage I start to lag. I havent had SLI compatibility issues tough. Given the choice to choose my cards again, I would go 770 4GB. The only reason I went 650 TI Boost SLI in the first place was because I got both cards for 250$ and this was back before price drops.
  9. make sure all power connectors the the mobo are plugged in right. 24 pin + the 8 pin. you can also check if your display is set to output the connection you have. I.E if your using HDMI make sure your monitor is set to read HDMI. Doe your pc start up and do the mouse and keyboard light up?
  10. Sorry I meant the high end model of its line. Not Dells actual flagship models. I should have been more clear and it was late lol. The links are for the highest end inspiron and XPS dell has on their site.
  11. The High end Dell XPS laptops and the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 are pretty bad ass too. I just bought a Dell Inspiron 7000 and should be here Tuesday. costs around 1k on their website for the flagship model. Good deal for what you get IMHO. 1080p touchscreen with gorilla glass. less than an inch thin. 16Gb of ram. 1TB HDD or 256 SSD. all aluminum. nvidia 750m. Cant wait till it gets here. Dell Inspiron 15 7000 -> http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-7537/pd?oc=dncwb1565s&model_id=inspiron-15-7537 Dell XPS 15 -> http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-15-9530/pd?oc=dncwx1249h&model_id=xps-15-9530 Both are the Flagship models. The Inspiron being more worth it IMO. Edit: XPS has a 3200 x 1800 Display
  12. Surprised no one mentioned the Audio Technica M50s. I Like my ue6000s personally. with they noise canceling on they hit pretty good and sound great. with it off its more natural and balanced but still on the warm side. Any Mainstream hip hop headphone has alot of bass too. I.E Beats, Sol Republic, Monster Headphones. So do most DJ headphones.
  13. Weren't the 800 Series from Nvidia also supposed to come with a co processor to help make the gpu more independent? I wonder why no rumors have come up from that. At least I haven't hear any.
  14. Just checked newegg. Prices go anywhere from 799 - 899 with most being 899. I live in the US if that matters. Edit: Like only 1 is 799$ and 2 are 879$. the Rest are 899$
  15. Msi Afterbruner shows on the charts that the gpus have used 100% and its throttling up n down depending on load. Some parts of a map are more gpu intense than others. Im not sure about why the cpu isnt hitting 100% though. Edit: CPU sits betwee 70-90% usage which is still high. resolution scaling might make your cards work harder (because they need to) but does your fps go up when its turned down?
  16. I love the power savings. Now I can SLI faster cards on the same Power supply! lol.
  17. I don't think 650 Tis Can SLI. Only the 650 Ti Boosts Can which is closer to a 660. Same specs with less cores. @OP if your gonna build a new pc atleast wait until DDR4 comes out! Then it will atleast last a bit longer. Also 670 SLI might not give you the performance you want for 1440p Gaming. I would try n wait it out.
  18. I have a feeling the 750 and 750 ti arent gonna be called maxwell cards but we wont know until Nvidia says something. The maxwell cards are supposed to be a whole new chip with a 20nm die + a co processor to help take stress off of the main cpu. Also the 650 Ti boost isnt a true 650 ti but a 660 with less cores. pretty sure the 650 ti boost will perform better than a 750 ti. It should go 650 -> 750 -> 650 Ti ->750 ti -> 650 Ti Boost. All just guesses and speculation though until Nvidia says something.
  19. Even so the point is the same. The games will be better optimized for the console so it will take faster hardware on a pc to run it with similar setting and im sure the OS isnt as resource heavy as windows.
  20. I would say 3-6 PS3s equal a ps4 in Gaming power. More Ram + GPU are worlds better than the ps3s. we are gonna see some very beautiful games in 1080p @60fps in the coming years. Even though gaming pc's will destroy the new consols, your gonna need a decent one to make it look as good as it does on a ps4. Thats because the OS is so light and Devs optimize for that specific chip.
  21. 660 ti shouldnt be running that hot. did u try changing the thermal compound and what kind of cooling is on it? Does your case have good ventilation?
  22. I Installed a 4770k on 2 different motherboards and the same thing happened to me. I think the Haswell sockets are just a tight fit. Although I dont think mine got dented as bad as yours. Just small scuffs. Happened on my Asus Maximus VI Hero and my MSI z87 G55. I would take pics but that would involve taking my pc apart and well....yeah....lol
  23. I converted some Videos faster and Heavy populated areas on an MMO I play Lagged less.
  24. Honestly I couldnt say. All I could say is maybe. Although I dont see how you couldnt, you never know. Without knowing how the rails are set up its hard to tell. your manual doesnt say anything on how its set up?
