    If you got thermal paste on the pins just using rubbing alchohal and gently wipe it off, what would potentially damage the pin side would be liquid metal you’ll be alright OP

    casual gaming 2-4 hours a day. But i think i will never overclock anyway, and a 1800x will be equally as good since the amount of manual work and OC verification is also measurable in money since time is money (at least for me as a programmer first gamer second ..). But i see the other points here. 32 gigs ram is too much. ill go for 16 instead. can use my money on something else.

    You honestly want to be gpu bottlenecked. It allows you to get the full potential of the gpu.

    that said, do you think a non overclocked 1700 can perform with a gtx 970? do i really need the "newest" cpu? if i buy 1700 and use it stock, my theory is that it maybe will kick as much ass as 1800x coupled with my gtx 970?
