  1. Jesus this is a lot of information, thanks! I was thinking of waiting it out, but chances are the price hikes on the new CPUs are gonna be a bit grim. I'll still wait on the GPU though. Surprisingly the shipping is like 30 dollars express which is pretty good. I just had a question about the RAM, is it best to go with 3200 DDR4 for the Intel platform?I know Ryzen needs it but I'm not sure about Intel, I just want to make sure before I go and buy the cheaper slower stuff. Edit: Oh and also, should the PSU be bumped up to 650 TXM for a 1080ti build? You listed 550 for both builds but they had the 1070s.
  2. Oh ok, guess I'll look into AIO just in case I wanna try OC
  3. Oh awesome, thanks for this. On the cpu coolers, is the liquid cooling necessary? I know in the past the summer has been brutal but I think the air coolers generally go alright, there are also bundles for them on pccasegear. Also would it be bad to get everything but the gpu and run it till I decide? Been thinking about doing it but I'm worried new cpu stuff might come along at the same time or something?
  4. Ahh yep rightio I'll see how I go, mainly depends on how the prices add up from one retailer, because it will be to expensive shipping wise to source from individual retailers. Also, thoughts on the be Quiet! dark rock 3? comes in a bundle here https://www.pccasegear.com/bundle/85/intel-core-i7-8700k-with-be-quiet-dark-rock-pro-3-cpu-cooler Cheers!
  5. So is it worth it to go with intel for the cpu still? Oh yeah forgot to mention I already have SSD and bulk HDD storage
  6. Cheers, I'll assess all the stuff I want to do on the PC and see if I need to beef the GPU up
  7. My bad, I have all peripherals and OS. Monitor is in the future so can be left out.
  8. Hey guys, I've started full time work and finally have money to replace my current broken laptop set up. My current laptop has the following specs: Intel Core i7-4710MQ Nvidia GTX 850M 8GB RAM I think the processor is fine but the GPU lacks the power to play the games I want to play. I run a 32" 1080p monitor with that at the moment, the screen was broken so I removed it. I want to get a 1440p widescreen in the future to go along with it. Possibly more, but definitely a multi monitor set up. I don't really play any high end games, but that's mostly due to my lack of a gaming computer. I'd love to get around games like ARK and PUBG, just need the PC to run em. So I live in Australia and will have a max of $2500 AUD to spend on a computer. I've been looking into the new Ryzen CPUs and a 1080ti, but I haven't really been in the computer parts loop for a few years so I'm not sure what the go is at the moment, I need a push in the right direction Thanks.
  9. Just 1 of these should fix it: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514700455&sr=1-3&keywords=USB+to+audio Antlion sell one exactly like it, probably to do with the on board audio interference or something. https://antlionaudio.com/collections/accessories/products/antlion-audio-usb-adapter
  10. GPU drivers are up to date? You might have some luck in uninstalling and reinstalling GPU drivers. Oh and does it show as Generic PnP in the nvidia panel, or as GN246HL?
  11. Is it dual link DVI? should be a full rectangle of pins plus the 1 flat one.
  12. Yeah, I was just hoping someone would know it and be able to respond quicker than he could.
  13. I'm trying to find the song playing in the background at 3:30 in this video: https://youtu.be/h6PO_pMLhK4?t=3m30s Would usually be able to google for it, but it has no real lyrics to search for.
  14. Looks like that for selecting destination drive and getting all the files ready. Then it reboots into the Windows 10 style.
  15. Fair enough. If you ever get stuck, Unity has great documentation on the Unity editor should you need help.
  16. Yes should post without it, just don't run it for too long. The stock cooler should come with thermal paste pre-applied, what happened? Ensure the CPU cooler is plugged into the CPU fan header on the motherboard, and not a normal fan header.
  17. If you're just trying to learn, pick a simple game you know like pacman or space invaders and try to recreate it. Basically create a character you can control, and an enemy AI for the character to avoid, kill, etc. Have you looked into the tutorials that Unity provides? They are well documented and a really great starting point for beginners.
  18. VS installs Unity? I thought Unity installs VS. Force close everything, delete what was installed and start over. For all my Unity installs I've just used the Unity installer, which installs VS as well. Edit: I just read the post again. Should be fine.
  19. Work through it with a piece of string or something similar if you don't want to use a hammer/screwdriver.
  20. Lovely machine, nice display for your graphic design, and more than powerful enough for the adobe suite and IDEs. Quality is nice as well, Linus has done videos over the few generations of the XPS line-up if you wanna browse that before making the decision.
  21. TFW your monopoly is threatened and you need to fight back
  22. H5 should cool it just fine, I don't think the R1 is necessary. Edit: I didn't see that you were overclocking, but depending on the extent and how permanent it will be, you might want to try the R1, just a really tight fit with your case.
  23. Yeah beyond fixing it though, I don't really have an idea as to how the second boot option appeared. Possibly a crash you may have had or a similar error resulted in this, but if you haven't initiated any OS installs then you should be fine just removing the faulty option.
  24. Windows+R>msconfig>Boot tab>delete faulty boot option
  25. The only reason it shouldn't exist is so ISPs can gain control over how they can offer up access to the internet. Different deals for access to different sites and platforms, all to rake in more cash from the consumers and site owners. The death of net neutrality has no benefits to the end consumer, just ISPs.
