  1. It has been too long people...
  2. We must never let this happen. I'm still dumbfounded over what's happened here over a simple question.
  3. For the past 4 years I have used my 4k laptop, daily. I'm looking for a monitor to use with my pc build that I'll finish in a month or two. I decided on the one linked below but was wondering If I should just go with a 1080p display instead (this would save me quite a bit of money). My main worry is that the size difference may make the change more difficult as there would be even less pixels. The idea behind this is that I would probably upgrade to something better later anyway and have the original monitor as a secondary. If you were used to a higher resolution, would your next monitor match that or would you compromise and prefer to get better hardware? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-XV272UPbmiiprzx-FreeSync-DisplayHDR-ZeroFrame/dp/B07JP65L76/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Acer+Nitro+VG271U&qid=1571790711&sr=8-4
  4. It seems that no matter what I'm doing, My good ol' hard drive keeps giving it's 100%.

  6. The plug *has* been pulled but thanks for the suggestions. As long as it works how it should with the setup that's fine. Again, I'm not exactly on a budget here so £10 here or there I don't mind that much.
  7. Yeah, I know. That's definitely something I'm going to look for because I feel like a 9700k is quite overkill. The reason why I chose it is because I only recently turned 18 and only have a car to worry about financially and now that it's paid off (insurance), everything I earn now I can put towards PC parts so why not something good, even if it may be overkill for what I'm going for. It's funny I say that because i'm not willing to get a better GPU but you get my drift.
  8. So I've just bought a 750w psu from EVGA. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017RO39TK/ref=dp_cerb_1 Basically I've been working for a while now and have only just begun putting money away for a PC as the rest is reserved for something else, being frustrated that I still haven't made progress on something I've wanted to do for 2 years now, I bought a power supply as It isn't something to become obsolete before the next 2/3 months. Will this fit in an S340 Elite properly and will it be ok for a 2060 Super and i7-9700k? I've done research before but just want to check here before I open it up as then I won't be able to return it.
  9. wdym? I feel like @LukeSavenije has been running this place for months now.
  10. The main problem I have with "gaming" laptops these days is the cooling. I'm not really sure what games these companies think people are going to be playing on them because many Asus laptops overheat a lot I don't imagine having a 1060/1070 or whatever in one is a great idea. But hey, for some people they don't have issues. I know how you feel as i joined the platform with a laptop too and i would suggest just raising it up slightly by putting a book under it or something as a ghetto attempt to make it better, worked like a charm for me - then i got a cooler. In the summer I've seen it reach a little over 90C if memory serves correctly. - i know.. I think the stuttering is something you have to deal with in a laptop unless you reduce settings or go further and undervolt as people have suggested but I don't know anything about that as I haven't really used a PC personally since 2014. Lowering settings for each game and getting that sweet spot where it's the right amount of quality and performance only for opening Geforce Experience and having it apply 'optimal settings' over what you spent so long perfecting is quite tedious (I didn't realise there was a revert button ). I've went on quite a tangent there but yeah, for years I've kind of dealt with it and adjusted settings so I guess i'm used to it.
  11. Give us some more info, I assume it's hard for people to figure out what's wrong unless they've experienced something similar but it appears that anyone who has hasn't replied yet. Have you done the usual checking of the Nvidia control panel settings and having everything on preferring performance over anything else?
  12. Speaking of .NET Framework, I was just doing some work in Visual Studio and I genuinely want to learn more about Visual Basic and have been going through guides but I really lack the motivation to do more than the bare minimum for the assignments.. It's that psychology thing where if you're already doing something but your boss asks you to do it later, you don't feel like doing it again because then it feels like a task.
  13. It turns out that I won't be getting a second job to help fund this addiction as it wouldn't fit into my schedule. So i'm planning on having a finished PC in about 6 months instead. So say I have around £150, what's the first thing I should get that wouldn't be outdated by the time I finish building? Edit: This is really vague and I don't plan on adding much just wanted to get people's opinions.
