  1. So it looks like AMD is reducing the prices for RX 5700 series GPU before launch in response to Nvidia's RTX Super lineup. This seems to make the new Navi GPU's an even better performance/cost option. There's even a theory going around that the original pricing were all a bait for Nvidia on their Super lineup pricing and it's based off of Scott Herkelman's tweet (linked below). Whether this was planned or is more of a marketing strategy is unknown, but this "battle" between AMD and Nvidia on the graphics side can only mean better prices and performance options gamers and consumers now and in the future.

Edit: ty @seon123, I didn't realize that the link wouldn't generate an autopicture. Here's the picture tweeted by AMD with the updated prices.

  2. I would suggest looking up whether the specific programs that you're going to use benefits from more cores or better IPC, or works better with a GPU. Look up reviews and such b/c different drivers and optimization between different programs will affect how well they can take advantage of whatever hardware. If CPU and core bound, I would go with the 2700X. If IPC bound, I would go with the 8700K. If GPU bound... Good luck with that (though the pricing has gone down). If it is GPU bound, or does better with a powerful GPU, look up whether it benefits from more computing power (Vega) or just depends on strong CUDA performance (NVIDIA). oh, and whether those programs are optimized for AMD or NVIDIA GPU's.

actually due to the INSANE prices on Video cards right now you can indeed buy a Titan Xp directly from Nvidia for cheaper then a 1080ti from anywhere they are in stock.

that said I wouldn't sell an Aftermarket 1080ti with a good air cooler for a Star Wars Titan Xp no matter how damn good they look in my rig (I have 2 by the way), they are still founders cards afterall and as such have a shitty cooler and the better cooling on the 1080ti the OP has will likely allow enough overclocking to outrun the Titan Xp.

Yea, one of the reasons why I'm kinda hesitant to sell my 1080Ti. It was a more expensive version b/c of it's better cooling and power phases. not to mention factory clocked. It runs at 1999MHz~2050MHz consistently, and doesn't go above 65~70C

I would say you might get $900-$1000 because brand new the cheapest card on amazon in that list is $1200. A miner will more than likely be willing to spend the $400 more for a brand new card vs one someone "claims" to have only played games on it.

That said, you played games and profited if you could sell it even at $900(assuming low tax)... If posting it is free then no harm in trying to sell it (as long as you're willing to risk no GPU). If you do get some fool I mean a minor er Miner... to buy it then by all means do so, and ship asap and order a new card asap if possible.

Ahaha, yea, right? normally... this wouldn't be something that would be possible... but we're talking about miners., haha. lol. but, that $1200 is for the regular version. Mine's the Xtreme edition, which is $1599 rn

Yours is not new, it's used, second hand, so people will not buy it at full new price.. thin kabout it for 2 sec.. if i have to pay full price then ill buy at the store...

    :P

Only reason why I'm even thinking of selling right now is because of the current conditions. I don't think miners care about whether it's been used or not, just how much they buy it for. and if I'm selling for cheaper than what other places are selling for, it'll probably get picked up even if it's been used. And yes, normally people wouldn't buy it at full price... but think aren't normal is it now? think about it. ;)

  6. So, I currently have a Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB Graphic Cards GV-N108TAORUS X-11GD. I bought it in June and I've only ever used it for gaming. I was thinking, maybe I should sell it right now and just buy a Titan xP since it's a lot cheaper than a 1080Ti rn. If I should sell it, how much do you guys think I should sell it for. $1300? $1200? $1400? As in, would I get enough money back that it's worth selling.

  7. Sorry, for some reason I didn't get the notifications for this.

Yeah if all else fails, audio splitters are cheap

    And silasjdemone is right,
Here's the amazon link for if you live in the US:
    https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=audio+splitter
Here's the link if you live in Canada:
    https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/135-7535082-1958661?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=audio+splitter

Wait... are you looking for physical ports for different channels?

  8. It would depend on whether or not your motherboard has two audio cards or one audio card. If it only has one audio card, then the usage is either back or front but if it has two then you can use both at the same time. Seeing as you are asking, i'm going to assume your motherboard doesn't have two audio cards. You'll either have to use the audio from your graphics card via monitor (if your graphics card uses dvi/hdmi/DP and your monitor has a headphone jack) or buy a separate internal or external Audio Dac

  9. Hi, so I need help figuring out how to use the egpu to run games on the internal display instead of having to use an external display to use the GPU. This is so that i can game while i'm home for winter break away from my desktop which is still at the dorm.

    This is my setup:

    HP Spectre x360 15

    i7-8550U w/8GB of Ram

    dGPU MX150 (currently disabled)

The external GPU i'm trying to use is a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme Edition 1080 Ti

The case is the Akitio Node

I'm at a loss of what to do now. The 1080 Ti drivers are installed, the PCIe connection between MX150 and cpu is disabled. The 1080Ti shows up on geforce experience and in device manager, but when I try to launch Nvidia Control Panel, it says no Nvidia GPU is detected.... I don't know what else to try. Any advice and help would be appreciated. :)

    Thanks

  10. The reason why the Dell monitor is cheaper than the others is because while the others are IPS monitors the Dell monitor is a TN monitor. IPS displays offers better color accuracy, better color gamut, and better viewing angles than TN does and is more expensive to produce, not to mention that TN has a much easier time achieving higher refresh rates than IPS does so the IPS display needs to be of better quality to reach such high refresh rates compared to TN displays.

  11. how long does It usually take? If it takes a long time, and I want to use my computer today, should I leave my system at 3.8GHz? I haven't tested it with ASUS realbench yet. Should I set everything to auto and set the multiplier to 37 (b/c 1700 supports 3.7GHz to XFR) and reset my ram back to stock (2400MHz) and then test the ram before I sleep?

  12. Okay, so i've been testing with asus realbench and it keeps crashing. I even upped the voltage to 1.43V after which it crashed again. Is there a temperature limit to the 1700'? because it seemed that each time the temp approached 70 C before crashing. and should I risk upping the voltage to 1.45V? is that a safe long term (at least 3~4 years) voltage?

  13. So, I'm having an issue with stability. Sometimes my computer will crash randomly. It happens randomly and rarely but enough that I'm worried that it might happen during something important. I've tested my overclock (3.9 GHz) with AIDA64, OCCT, CPU Z bench and stress test, performance test, cinebench r15, and 4 hours of Prime95 twice. But it still happens, especially when I'm recording and this is sometimes. I've also monitored temps [30~40 C during idle and peaks at 60C (have yet to see it go above 60 even when rendering with premiere pro)]. It's also never at 100% load except during synthetic tests. In fact, it never really goes above 70% load. My CPU's usually around 40~50% when recording. Is there something I'm doing wrong with my overclock settings? *refer to image below*. I've also been trying to get it to stabilize at 4.0 GHz.... with no success. Won't even last a second on prime95 with 1.45V. I would really appreciate help with my current settings but if you guys can help me with more overclocking that would really be amazing. xD.

  14. So, I convinced my friend to let me build her a computer instead of looking for a laptop, but her stipulation was that it had to be as small as possible as she is moving to the east coast for college and she can only take what fits into her suitcase. This is my build for her so far ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y9xgf8 ). I'm wondering if there are smaller cases available. Thanks for helping in advance.
