  1. And they also lost a substantial amount of subscribers as of recent. That's what you get if you pull practices like these against your customers. This was to be expected though, especially since they also started to crackdown on people sharing their passwords with friends or family members that don't live in the same household. Meanwhile we have people that actually defend Netflix claiming people are 'stealing content'.
  2. That's bullshit and you know it. How is that even considered theft? The consumer is paying, period. What if also the person that's being shared to is also paying for it to the owner of said account AKA splitting the bill? . I don't believe that their increasing of prices has any reasons to do with people sharing their password, it's simple greed. Their growth in the recent years (ESPECIALLY WITH COVID) has exploded enormously so once again it's unjustifiable. This sort of comparison has no relevance to this particular situation at all and to be quite frankly insulting. People aren't stealing, they're sharing.
  3. Comparing a Netflix account to a bank or anything else in this particular context is just laughable. Certain things you better don't share with others (unless you really trust them or are family members). If you really are concerned about your account's safety, you might as well make an account that is simply dedicated to sharing and minimize payment information. And yes, Netflix SHOULD add in multi-factor authentication to increase security of people's accounts. With that said, at the end of the day it's still the responsibility of the account's owner if they want to share it or not.
  4. The main reason that most of us will come down to is the fact that Netflix is being unnecessarily greedy. In the past they thought the sharing of passwords wasn't really a bad thing, so I kinda see a bit of hypocrisy on their end. Are they within their right to enforce these new rules, yes I think so but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. It will get backlash as we are seeing already so eventually we will see if they're going to back down and come up with something better. Whether this is about someone's entitlement, it doesn't matter. Even if it was, so what? Are people not allowed to enjoy entertainment on said platform?
  5. I don't think it should be repeated, but practices like these will push people further into pirating content that said platform produces/offers. This is simply out of greed, nothing more. They have garnered a lot of money over the past two years so they can basically shut the hell up about that. I'd consider this to be more of a malpractice towards consumers at the end. Just let people share their accounts. If they're paying for it, then that's that. No need to increase the price for that. Life's already expensive so why need to make it more difficult for others to enjoy some entertainment. Oh and before they start with that this is simply out of security for the user, it's their responsibility. If their account gets hacked because of the sharing, it's a risk you are going to take regardless. It's up to the platform to implement PROPER security checks to ensure that it doesn't happen or at the very least minimize it.
  6. Why not though? Don't you think it's a good idea to give people a fair chance to learn more about what they want to do in the future or do you simply not care for that at all? Labour type of jobs (some of them at least) can be automized if done properly. It's just that the world is too greedy to do so as per usual.
  7. Ah how surprising for them not to release the anniversary edition for free for current owners of the Special Edition, with the exception for the next-gen upgrade. Bethesda is just milking the shit out of Skyrim just because of it's past popularity. The fact that the game still costs about 60 bucks on the Switch says a lot, but that's just mostly Nintendo as the prices are different on other platforms.
  8. Damage control much? Such a perfect time for them to change their company's name and announce a whole bunch of shit like that scuffed looking 'VRChat/Second Life'
  9. Yeah, why would it matter? Certain IP types are simply old-fashioned and create bullshit situations such as these. I see nothing wrong with what DBrand did or the other company mentioned in the article. DBrand was edgy in the way they wanted to bring attention to it but it just shows how annoying patents are. Who gives a fuck if someone just creates a faceplate or any other kind of customization and then sells it.
  10. As always I find it hysterical that people defend a corporation for their 'IP', but this is just dumb asf. Sony is acting like such a bitch for not allowing other companies to create faceplate customization for their consoles. Whether it's for legal reasons like patents and stuff, It should still be regarded as something absurd and unacceptable.
  11. So there are people here in this thread that find this more acceptable than those scalpers on eBay or other online markets... Ironic to say the least but also quite ignorant. Companies pulling of these sorts of practices should always be met with criticism nor should it be allowed to go mainstream.
  12. Not exactly a great time to 'push' people to get new hardware with all these shortages right now. And no, before someone says they didn't know this was going to happen, you are wrong. They had plenty of time to figure that part out.
  13. This honestly is one of the least important things to worry about. It should be more about whether the OS is stable and more performant. Design choices like these can be solved, but I wouldn't say this bothers me or anyone else for that matter by a lot.
  14. Facebook corp should be broken up with Instagram and Whatsapp becoming independent once again considering Facebook has become a monopoly.
  15. What do you expect? Facebook is one of the worst social media platforms out there for a whole lot of reasons.
  16. If only Facebook would stay down forever. WhatsApp and Insta can stay.
  17. I think you know well enough that Windows is the de facto OS for the majority of the people because of the lack of proper choices. MacOS is only available for Apple products (unless we're talking about Hackintosh but that's a whole other story) and Linux has a whole bunch of different distros that are usually different from another and it also has quite a bit of a learning curve. I only wish we had MacOS properly available for regular machines but never going to happen.
  18. Despite the fact that MS is collaborating with Amazon (which I don't like, but corps are just being corps), it's a shame they won't include it in their final release. Their 'showing off' of the feature was just another selling point, nothing more. Whether it's worth using remains to be seen in the insider versions if they'll release it to that branch anytime soon.
  19. I don't think you seem to understand the difference between marketing ploys that companies do and actual reality. I personally would have my car checked every year to ensure nothing is wrong with it, definitely if you have the vehicle for a long time that has done some a lot of kilometers. In some parts of the world you are legally required to do that, though it depends mostly on the age of said vehicle.
  20. How was it not pure dogshit and tone deaf? Literally you seem to insinuate that everyone who brings forward these accusations are lying only for the means of profit/self-benefit. In some instances that can be the case, but in most times it's pretty much true. It's the kind of defense that people come up with to delegitimize others who have valid claims. People have been harassed for far too long and this culture/mentality that some have has to end. Jokes are fine, no one is saying you shouldn't but keep your fucking boundaries with people. Not everyone is as open as you might think.
  21. Hierarchical structures should be abolished or at least be completely reformed in workplaces as it can create these sorts of problems, but of course there are other reasons too. Anyway the rest of your dogshit post is just tone deaf asf.
  22. IT/gaming culture is just toxic asf and just horrible. The fact that we got so many people still out there harassing others in all sorts of ways for whatever 'reason' within the industry, shows there's work to be done. Whoever takes charge of Blizzard might be able to improve things for the victims, though it's likely going to be minimal. This is a widespread issue that I hope one day will be resolved. Also the Head of HR left as well as of today. All I'm going to say is, with that kind of reply you posted, you're pretty much part of the problem that many are trying to address.
  23. https://magazines.rijksoverheid.nl/knmi/knmispecials/2019/03/gevolgen Have a read on that article. People will be effected by the rising sea levels in the Netherlands. Although I will admit I probably have to correctify myself about the dikes and dams not able to hold off the water since the article doesn't immediately mention anything of it, that still doesn't mean the possibility is ruled out. Regardless, I am well aware that it is more hilly in the Eastern parts of the Benelux region. That wasn't the only reason it happened. With the rising sea levels, you will notice more of these types of storms in Europe and other places around the world. Like it or not, if you continue to ignore the warnings, you will suffer from it severely.
  24. You put way too much faith on those dams and dikes. I know the Dutch are really good at creating land and managing water flow, but at one point it will become as good as impossible to hold the large amounts that will eventually build up in the Atlantic. Also, the fact that very recently a few areas down the southern region were flooded by the immense amount of rain shows how climate change has a detrimental effect on certain regions in the world.
