AndriesM reacted to The Sloth in nVidia Quadro 4000?
..ok, to answer your question the 290 will be better for gaming Quadro will be better for color work and pure rendering.

AndriesM reacted to johnt in How bad is using stock cooler on i7-7700K? (I won't overclock)
The 7700k doesn't come with a stock cooler. You will need to purchase one separately.

AndriesM got a reaction from DocSwag in i5-6600k to Ryzen 1800x or i7-7700k For gaming?
A friend of me has an AMD Phenom II X4 970. (has TDP of 125) and in the OC menu, there is an option to OC till 5.3 GHz. His mobo can take 6.3 max. But if he wants to go for 5.3. He'll need a hell of a cooler.
ATM he runs at 3,785 GHz. So not bad for such a CPU.
He has a cooler similar too a TX4. and reaches 45 C in idle. Pretty impressive tho!

AndriesM got a reaction from PCGuy_5960 in I7 7700 vs Ryzen 7 1700
Still waiting for answers from people.
If priority is on gaming, get 7700K.
If priority is on multitasking, rendering and such, get r7 1700
tho 7700K isn't bad at multitasking, rendering and such.
AND the 7700K has more OC headroom

AndriesM got a reaction from PCGuy_5960 in I7 7700 vs Ryzen 7 1700
Ya. BUT the R7 1700 has 0,5Ghz OC headroom. While the 7700K can go up to 0,6 GHz

15-20%.
If you do a lot of rendering, just get the 1700, it is better for your needs.

Ryzen is good too, but i prefer intel because Ryzen 1700X is a lot more expensive and the 1700, Hmmm

AndriesM got a reaction from StarsTechSpirit in Processor choosement
Hello guys,
Just a few questions
I'm planning to build my first PC, but i have some trouble with choosing a CPU.
I have two options: 7700K w/ Maximus IX Hero or 6800K w/ X99 Strix.
It's for schoolwork, video-editing and gaming.
This is the parts list:
Intel Core i7 7700K / Intel Core i7 6800K
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO / ASUS ROG X99 STRIX
ASUS ROG STRIX RX480 O8G
G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3000C16D-16GTZR
NZXT KRAKEN X62 / Cryorig R1 Universal
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX TG / be quiet! Dark base Pro 900
Corsair RM750x
Western Digital Blue SSD
Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX
So the question is:
What CPU / Chipset do you recommend, What cooler do you recommend and What case do you recommend?

But If you look at the title:
i5-6600k to Ryzen 1800x or i7-7700k For gaming?
Then you know the thread owner wants Z170 or Z270 or X370
So X99 is "out in this thread" i think.
But you are right tho

I agree, the higher clockspeed is definitely worth it.
At my dad's business we run SolidWorks 2016 on some pc's with a six-core 3.0Ghz. But Solidworks just uses 1 core(IK, its strange) But a 7700K is going to be better. Just because higher clockspeed.

Ya, that kinda sucks. But overall the 1700 is better. If you go to SW then. Just disable 7 cores and 14 threads. and OC

That's what SW would like. I think it isn't a bad idea. But if the rig runs SW smooth and fails at multitasking. Its kinda strange

AndriesM got a reaction from StarsTechSpirit in AMD Ryzen 1700 overheat!!! Please help!
Re-mounting is not messing with your cpu. Just clean the CPU and the contact surface of your cooler , put new thermal paste on. and re mount the cooler. Don't overtighten it. And remember: Cross pattern

AndriesM got a reaction from PCGuy_5960 in Processor choosement
The plan is 2way CF and i will render at night, so its not a problem if its a bit slower. Then you just need a silent case
