The EVGA Supernova NEX power supply is kinda mediocre, there are better deals available. Like the EVGA Supernova GQ 750W - it's higher quality, higher wattage, yet costs less.

Hey so I was following your post all day - waiting to get home from work so I could respond! I just built a pc for a coworker, and he wanted it to accomplish one thing: gaming!

I feel that all of these builds are okay/great in their own way - as far as your build is concerned, I think you're not putting the money where it matters. there's no point in getting that case aside from looks if you're not going to put fans, and LED fans at that, in it.

There's no sense in spending $110 on a liquid cpu cooler, because a heatsink and some fans will keep it temped just fine, and you want airflow to keep the gpu and ram cool as well!

The $40 SSD is pointless because it's not NVMe, skip the HDD for now and you can spend $90 and get a m.2 256gb WD Black PCIe SSD - which is NVMe and plenty of space for you to use until you upgrade or add on an HDD for $50.

You don't need a 650w, you're not running dual GPU's or anything crazy, a 550w will do the job for $20 cheaper.

Now as for the MoBo and CPU - think about this - you are not planning on overclocking are you? I went with the H370 chipset - saving $40 on the MoBo but getting the same features (maybe more!) ... and if you're not OC'ing you don't need the 8600k. Although the 8600 plain is only $5-10 cheaper... I went with the i5-8400 - you still get all the same features, just no ability to OC and the main different is $70 in the price, and 800MHz.

Now I'm not saying your build is bad by any means, The biggest difference between mine and yours are 1) the CPU speed and 2) putting money into the GPU because you said gaming was the goal.

Keep in mind with these Intel CPU's you can use Turbo Boost mode on either up to 4.0GHz or so.. and looking at gaming benchmarks - the difference between yours and mine are MAYBE 3 FPS!!!!!! But then again, the better GPU may make up for that difference so unless you're really multi tasking heavy why not save the $70 and put it elsewhere?

If I had to spend $1200 on a gaming build, this is exactly how I would do it right now - although it's a bit more for some extra fans.. but aesthetically - this case is one of the top 5 cases under $100 this year!! It comes with an RGB strip, and you have RGB features in the MoBo and RAM. Plus it features Corsair add-ons which you said were important to you.

However, with two extra fans for the front (your case comes with two fans PLUS a manual fan controller on the front I/O - the two extra fans brings it to a bit over $1,200, but necessary if you ask me. With shipping about $1,250 - AND the whole purchase is from Newegg so you don't have to price parts out at 5 different retailers.

OH so let's finally talk about the GPU - $460 - $150 more than your build, for a 1070ti 8gb Dual EVGA Gaming graphics card. WHY NOT?!?!?!?

For $1,200 this is how I would do it.. this is how you should do it!!! If you want to go up to $1,350 or $1,500 you can add on the HDD OR just get the better CPU, or even modify a couple things and put it into a 1080p 144hz LED gaming monitor!

I put some serious thought into this, I hope you consider it and ask me any questions you may have please!!!!! Look forward to talking to you about this build!
