    If you want a really lightweight distro which will run nicely off a flash drive or even a CD, try DSL (Damn Small Linux). It's very lightweight and somewhat stripped back, but if you're looking to learn command line then it might be a really good option.

    Not sure which kernel they're using in the latest version though.

    I'll be ordering the CPU on Monday and will probably build later in the week. I'm checking now before testing because my local store only had one other RAM stick of this type and they weren't planning to get any more in. If I need to swap I should do so before that stick goes into another build. But from what you're saying, I don't need to worry. Thanks again for your help
