tbh it's more fun than just buying a prebuilt keyboard, also non-mainstream boards let you choose non-cherry options

That can be said about a lot of other communities, sadly.
I've never built a custom keyboard before but, I love DIY stuff so, it seems really fun to me.
Still, that doesn't warrant you to be a condescending a-hole to others but hey, humans are weird.
