Right now I have 1121 Chrome tabs open on my laptop.  (Some of them are suspended, though.)

Windows task manager says overall system RAM usage is 24.5 GB, Chrome overall is almost 8GB (runner-up app is about 95 MB), and most-RAM Chrome process (in details tab) is about 1.3 GB.

Something doesn't quite compute, though.  Chrome's task manager says GPU Process is running 5 GB.  Also I have a Linux VM running, and its task manager says it's using 1.6 GB RAM.

I'm also more and more running into a significant issue with Chrome.  Whenever a process hits 4 GB memory usage, it crashes.  This is in spite of running a 64-bit Chrome on a 64-bit OS.  (The aforementioned GPU Process is an exception.)

@firelighter487 i have like 80 tabs of chrome at home, thats only 2GB. whats in the tabs matters quite a lot. Its mostly text based websites or tabs of forums for me

@Bananasplit_00 ah that makes sense. also if you don't use them for a while it writes them to disk and takes them out of ram afaik... so if you leave it on all day it writes most of the tabs to disk.
