Nope, I don't see the big deal at all. It's a fitness bike. It's not like he said "get on that fatty, you need to slim those thighs!"
The world is getting way, way too fucking soft and it's getting pretty pathetic.

Right. As if guys would be bitching if it were the other way around. Fitness is enjoyed by both sexes. -
wow Well, I mean there are certain gifts that stereotypically you probably should not get your partner, like a bathroom scale, treadmill, vacuum, etc. but even with that in mind I don't think that was the intended message here at all, nor is it one I would read from this by default.
