  1. I feel like its not output related because the PC doesnt even show any sign of staying on. Still I will try that just to be sure.
  2. No I tried multiple monitors. I dont thing I have another system I can try the CPU in. Replacing the motherboard and PSU is everything but the ram I have borderline build a new PC trying to fix this one lol.
  3. This is the worst case scenario. I replaced the motherboard first so I guess the first power supply could have nuked the second motherboard before I replaced the PSU too.
  4. When you turn on the computer the fans spin for a second, no output is sent to the display, and then it turns off. At first I thought, well, thats really not a lot to go off of, probably an old shitty motherboard. I replaced the motherboard, same thing. Then I thought, wow, ok, maybe the power supply is shot and both motherboards are turning off as a safety measure. Replaced the power supply didnt work. The PC literally only has the RAM and CPU left to diagnose. No GPU in the system, and I am assuming its not a hard drive thing because it should atleast get to the BIOS in that case. Next most likely thing is either I screwed up somewhere in the process of debugging, or the RAM is shot because I know RAM issues can act up in a million hard ways. There are no post codes, beeps, anything like that to go off of. Just the wimpy spin of a case fan and a turned off computer https://pcpartpicker.com/user/alexbianchi15/saved/#view=cRDCmG This computer is my grandmothers, I build it for my grandfather a few years ago before he recently passed so its really important to my grandma that I get it working even though i've explained to her that the data is still safe even if another part broke.
  5. ive got nothing besides double checking everything is plugged in right and googling stuff sorry. good luck though.
  6. did you happen to mess up a setting in the bios while you where in there? we've all done it before haha
  7. I wound up reseting the bios and re installing windows. completely fresh laptop wich i wanted to do anyways. After that I found an article that had the same issue as me. I had to restart into safe mode and before it booted go into the bios and disable raid to go to AHCI. after that windows booted in safe mode and after another normal reboot worked fine. From there it was a normal linux install, partition the drive usb stick installer yada yada. Kali linux has a bootloader that lets me select windows or kali so its really easy for me to choose. Thanks for the suggestion. Im looking forward to getting to know linux. I want to learn to code and gain some networking skills instead of just being a computer nerd/hobbyist.
  8. Update: another fresh install of windows later I got windows back so thats good. Still determined to get linux on it tho.
  9. Hello, I feel like a moron. I have done this multiple times before but I haven't been in the UEFI for a good while and I guess I got rusty. I was trying to dual boot Kali linux and windows 10 on my dell xps 13 9350 and Kali wasnt detecting my SSD. Weird, so I google it and it sais that the dell xps 13 is set to raid mode not ACHI, So I downloaded the windows drivers to make it work with ACHI and went into the bios to switch it and now windows doesnt boot and the SSD is only a legacy boot option, So now the laptop knows it has an ssd but cant tell windows is on it to boot from. It used to go into repair mode now before the fresh install of windows now it wont boot at all. I reset all settings back to default on the XPS and installed a fresh copy of windows 10 but I am having the same issue. When I boot off the windows installation stick it detects the ssd. Im so sorry, this is such a stupid mistake I should have been following guides more but I was more confident in my abilities than I should have been. Any ideas are appreciated. Theres no data or anything to save this laptop is used for school and I just graduated so I deleted everything and backed up the important stuff to my desktop. Maybe I can just wipe everything and start from scratch ive done that before on this laptop. but I have also dual booted ubuntu and look where that got me this time.
  10. Ok cool thank you I'll try that today. I've been running it wide open thinking that's best for the backround blur effect. Sorry I'm very new to this.
  11. Ok cool thank you, it's a canon 24mm it's very cheap but im on a budget. I'll try that out today.
  12. I have a 70d that i use to record my videos for youtube. link to example youtube video https://youtu.be/0QDNcoTY67Y I remember back when Casey Neistat was vlogging he had a 70d and it looked great! I understand casey was using lenses that cost thousands of dollars, but with my 24mm F2.4 lense how do i get close? I edit with premeir, and other equipment is previously mentioned. Its a cheap SD card is the only other part of the proccess. Right now I dont do any sharpening in post. Does anyone have advice? Please this would help SO much.
  13. Any way i could lessen the bottleneck, im waiting for ryzen 3000 rn before i upgrade.
  14. System Info I7 4770k OC at 4.5 ghz Asus Aura GTX 1080 16gb of ram 144hz 1440p dell monitor with G-sync everything is running of an ssd windows 10 64bit Temperatures have been observed to be perfectly normal The problem Sometimes i will load up a game and it will have hugely inconsistent frame rates ranging from 60-100 fps and putting an fps limit of only makes it different (say 60fps cap will see fps range form 40-60 so still super laggy). Sometimes but not always turning the pc off and back on will help temporarily, and i can also see my mouse curser having some weird issues outside of games. It is most observable in BO4 however certainly their in other games. I have zero clue what it could be especially because sometimes everything runs absolutely fine, also the frame rates are not inconsistent, the are consistently variable and its say a 5 second delay and then it slowly dips and rises and dips and rises. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?
