You guys are 100% missing the point.
Its not a handicapped 6900k, they're not saying "Hey, this product we're showcasing here is just as fast as the 6900k!" What they're saying, and I quote here is "...The point of the demonstration was to showcase the IPC improvements of Zen"
All of amd's previous cpu launches have had awful ipc compared to intel. Clock per clock, core per clock, they lost every time. Now they have a product with what they're claiming is a higher ipc, and that's massive. Okay, maybe not massive, but it sure as shit should give intel a kick in the pants and actually force them to advance their own damn chips on the consumer end. That's what this release is about; not anything like saying that its better than a 6900k, they never claimed it to be except when compared clock per clock, core per core.
That also means that, if this cpu is capable at running at the same speeds as a 6900k normally, then it would be faster than it. However, the way that they decided to display this information, I think its very likely going to mean that the consumer chip from amd is going to have a lower clock speed than the 6900k.
yeah nvidia pulled off a dick move...they disabled 2 SMX units on the 3GB card so it has 128 less cuda cores (-11.1%)...it's a GTX 1050ti...not a GTX 1060...but nvidia figured a GTX 1060 3GB GDDR5 would sell better at a higher price vs. a GTX 1050ti 3GB
