  1. im assuming the support list consists of whatever they've tested so far, i doubt modern supermicro board wouldn't support ubuntu if you're still worried though a quick email to their support should clear it up same thing for ssd's modern compatibilty is pretty good
  2. a used 3090 is at minimum 150 euro more where i live so sadly it isn’t an option the only reason i wanna go x3d is cuz it helps a lot with turn times on games like civ 6
  3. hey everyone! im looking to upgrade the gpu in my system but im also worrying if the cpu might hold me back current specs: ryzen 7 2700, rtx 3070, 32gb ddr4 monitor: 4k 60hz upgrade option 1 : rx 7900 gre + ryzen 7 5800x3d upgrade option 2: rx 7900 xt im gravitating towards option 1 but i’d like your input (also yea, i know option one is a bit more expensive but i can stomach the difference) thanks in advance!
  4. the scandal was about fake downloads on third party sites, personally i haven't had an issue with it
  5. im pretty sure the your workload won't benefit from the x3d chips (they might even perform worse than their normal counter-parts due to lower clock speeds) in your use case yes you can use am5 chips, however i don't really see a reason why, since you won't be able to add an extra gpu to the system in the future whereas epyc cpus (even older generations like 7001/7002) support 128 lanes of pcie 4.0 , meaning you can fit as many gpus as your chassis allows if you're dead set on avoiding epuc/threadripper, a mobo like this looks like it has enough adequate pcie spacing for your use case: https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650E PG Riptide WiFi/index.asp however, be aware you will be missing out on nice to have features for a production pc like ecc support and remote ipmi
  6. this is pretty hard to do in today's systems, however pcie risers exist which alleviate that problem as you said you want something with many pcie lanes, so epyc is a good starting point mobo: https://smicro.eu/supermicro-mbd-h12ssl-ct-o-1 cpu: https://smicro.eu/amd-epyc-milan-7443p-up-24c-48t-2-85g-128mb-200w-100-000000342-1 for the cpu there are up to 64 core options but i doubt you need that much cpu horsepower for a mainly gpu heavy workload
  7. depending on the refresh rate you're targeting, but i'd say 100-120 euro is a reasonable price for it
  8. some developers are just stupid, cities skylines 2 targeted 30fps on high end hardware by design
  9. you need to change it so they're shared to anyone who has the link
  10. download the appropriate driver for your operating system and open the program, it will then guide you through the install https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-590
  11. virtual display driver:https://github.com/itsmikethetech/Virtual-Display-Driver (there's also an install guide video) be aware: you will need a program like input director so your mouse can work when the vdd is installed ( i don't really know why this happens, but it works) im recommending this cuz you're mentioning a monitor which i presume is connected to a pc, even if it is not, i doubt there are pc monitors available that support miracast now if you're trying to connect to a tv, then yes miracast is the only option im aware of but if you're just planning on watching movies, i'd suggest configuring a plex server on the mini pc and just stream them to the tv
  12. step 1: buy dummy hdmi plug step 2: install parsec on both computers step 3: insert dummy hdmi into hdmi port of mini pc step 4: turn on your main pc step 5: go to task bar, search for parsec and press enter step 6: press connect done!
