  1. I would personally take the Mercedes. The interior is far nicer and I don't like the styling of too many Mercedes but the face lifted E-class of that generation looked quite good. Unless you live in an area and also have a typical commute that supports the lifestyle of an EV, it would be best to just get a good old combustion engine car.
  2. I don't see what the whole shenanigans here is. If anything, this Sterling character proved that content ID actually works. By putting in two different copyrighted material, it seems logical that it would receive two different claims from their respective owners. Or am I missing something here?
  3. It is indeed quite vague but it is Google after all. I am not a Google rep so I don't have this info. My best guess is that Google partnered with the carriers (they're quite a powerful ally) in order to gain market share for Android. By allowing them revenue cuts from the play store, they would in turn market and push the Android brand. As to settlement fees, I don't know who runs the play store payment networks but they would need a cut as well. As to unlocked devices with no specific carrier affiliation, perhaps those purchases only receive the billing cut. IDK, shots in the dark. Again all speculation. So far the information we have points that Google did have such policies in order to gain market share and I would need to see evidence to prove otherwise.

  5. I may have been mistaken but I swear there were plenty of articles in like 2009 where the discussions were about why developers preferred to prioritize the App Store even though the revenue cut was steep.
  6. That's what Google did with Android. AFAIK, Google doesn't take cuts from developers selling their apps on the Play Store unlike Apple on the App Store. This, along with allowing OEMs to freely use Android allowed Google to create the powerhouse that is Android today. Microsoft is in a baddd position though since the market has now saturated with two major operating systems. Microsoft either had to pay large amounts of money for OEMs and developers to push their brand OR create an OS (windows 10) that could easily port a large catalog of legacy software and hopefully convince consumers that this is a better way. Seems like they're betting on the latter.

  12. This is going to be a fairly long post but I hope that it helps. Part 1. The key to losing weight is actually quiet simple, calories in and calories out. Your body needs energy (or calories) in order to stay alive and as various physics principles have shown, energy cannot be created or destroyed. So logically, you want to limit (not starve) your caloric intake and then transform the fat (stored energy) into something else like kinetic energy (exercising). A big mistake people make though is that they think they can eat whatever they want as long as they exercise a bunch. While yes, it is possible to expend enough calories through exercise to offset the calories that you intake, it's quite strenuous. For example. 3 large slices of Dominos pepperoni pizza is 1,000 calories. Now if you're like me, I can eat 3 slices for lunch alone. In order to burn 1000 calories, it's estimated (not an exact science) that you would need to walk ~11 miles. My point here is that it's much easier to control what you put into your body than it is to burn large amounts of calories. So how do you know how much food to eat? Try to figure out your basal metabolic rate (or BMR). Your BMR is the minimum amount of calories that your body requires to simply live. Here is a calculator that will ESTIMATE your BMR. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/#result . Just plug in the numbers and it should give you a number. Again, keep in mind that this is an estimate. A thing to point out though is that on the average day, your body will use more calories than its BMR. Simple things like brushing your teeth, writing a paper, and even talking uses up calories. This is important when trying to figure how many calories you should eat as you don't want to starve yourself. Now it's time to do some math. Let's say your BMR is 1800 calories. Add in various simple activities throughout the day that's another 500 calories. We're now at 2300 calories. In order to lose weight we want a calorie deficit. As noted before, there are two main ways to do so, dieting and exercising. A safe calorie deficit is about 500 calories a day. So what you could do is eat 1900 calories a day and then burn off 100 calories by exercising. -2300 (calories expended by your body) + 1900 (calorie intake from food) - 100 (calories expended from exercise) = -500 calories. A question you might ask is where is my body getting the 500 missing calories? The answer is your fat cells. By producing a calorie deficit, your body is forced to invade your fat cells in order to find the energy it needs. If you find that you're not losing weight, that means your calorie deficit is not enough. This will be trial and error since every body is different. Part 2. Familiarize yourself with the different macronutrients. There are carbs, fats, and proteins. Each one of these has a particular purpose in the way your body digests and uses them. Since you're trying to lose weight, most of your diet will revolve around lean meats and vegetables. Here are some that I like. Meats: Lean beef chicken breast salmon tuna tilapia Veggies: broccoli spinach carrots lettuce mushrooms So that's a general overview of diet. Now it's always good to supplement good diet with exercise. There are two major camps of exercisers. The weight lifters and the cardio group. Now there is a notion out there that people who want to lose weight should just focus on cardio. This is UNTRUE! Weight lifting isn't just for people who want big muscles. It is important that you lift weights as you will lose muscle mass when dieting but it's also important for people wanting to lose weight as muscles burn more calories even when you're at rest. So even though you don't lose as many calories weight lifting vs cardio (at the time of exercise) having good amounts of muscle allows you to burn calories even when you're not exercising and what's not to like about that? If you're worried about not being to afford a gym membership do not fret. I actually recommend newbies to focus on 4 basic exercises that can be done at home. 1. squat 2. pull up 3. push up 4. crunches A theme with these exercises is that they don't require equipment (well you'll need a bar for the pull ups) and they're all compound exercises. Your squat will target your legs and your butt. Pull ups will strength your back and biceps. Pushups will focus on your chest and triceps and crunches will work your abs. Master these exercises! Onwards to cardio! Again there are two camps in the cardio camp. The slow and steady and HIIT (high intensity interval training). So think of it as walking for 2 hrs vs running (and resting periodically) for 30 min. Personally, I'm in the HIIT camp. Not only does it allow you to speed of your workouts if you're busy but studies have shown that there are various benefits to HIIT. People who do HIIT have shown that not only do they burn large amounts of calories while doing the actual workout but they also continue to lose calories as their resting metabolism is higher post workout. Sorry that this was quite long and you may or may not have known about this stuff already. This is just months of research that I have done and thought it could be useful to you.

  16. Announced earlier this year, the Phanteks Evolv ATX TG edition has launched. I've been looking for a new case and this looks pretty stellar.   20. Probably the most annoying thing is not every decision Apple makes is a smart one but because of their position in the market, other companies always scramble to copy their move. Good decision by Apple: Apple decides to put a finger print sensor on their phone. Market: HTC scrambles to compete and puts a giant ass shitty sensor on the back of a phone with low tier components. Samsung takes their own derivative of the design requiring you to slide your finger, just not as good. What's even worse is even Apple's RUMORED decisions create a stir in the market. Bad decision (rumored) by Apple: Apple rumored to remove the headphone jack. Market: Some chinese company releases a rose gold phone with a headphone jack strangely missing.

  22. Re-read the stipulation of their new policy. The video has to be monetized by both parties in order for revenue to be generated. Once the dispute has been settled, the revenue is collected by the rightful owner. But if a troll comes and claims a dispute without asking for monetization, neither party receives revenue during the period of dispute.
