  1. So I went a little stir crazy while Isolating myself in these funky times.

Decided to make my own keyboard layout from scratch and hand wire a prototype.

She isn't the prettiest gal in the ball but she's definitely one of a kind, and I can really call her mine.

MOMOKA Flamingo Linears / Kailh speed Pinks
1.6mm 5052 Brushed aluminium plate laser cut by a third party and (poorly) hand bent by me.
Some 3d Printed PLA supports (will be revised, way too much flex from side to side)
    Maxxkey Blue/Cream SA Doubleshot keycaps
    Durock Plate Mount Stabilizers
A metric ton of wires (that will be revised eventually for better organization)
    And a Teensy++2.0 microcontroller.

Not sure what to call it just yet.

  2. Graphics cards are beginning to fail, one 270x is flexing too much for my liking and the two in my rig are horribly noisy under load with tons of coil whine, even with the fans ramped down in a Fractal Define S I'm still able to hear them.

The two R9 270x's haven't aged well at all..

Perhaps a polaris alternative would serve as a good transplant for this pc of mine.

  3. I wasted a good 100$ on a supposedly "factory re-certified" Corsair RM 750. Apparently Corsair's Power supply's don't need any 3.5V outputs at all to pass re-certification. (╯ರ ~ ರ)╯︵ ┻━┻

  4. Well I've gotten bored, so I thought I would try a little something.

I will start with two lyrics/lines taken from random songs from the internet, those who guess one correctly also attach lyrics to their reply's, and so the chain goes on.

All Lyrics posted must abide by the community standards please.

Lyric 1: "..An electronic paradise where humans would not go."

Lyric 2: "..With open eyes we still believe in the world.."

    Good luck and happy hunting.

  5. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community, I seem to have a dire problem on my hands.
I recently had to get rid of my MOBO and PSU to accommodate a new processor I had received along with a new Graphics card. And me being the cheapo techie, decided I'd risk open box parts. The motherboard was an easy problem to solve, it was missing a screw for the mounting tabs. (990FXA-UD3 R5 From Gigabyte, nice and stealthy black looking. :3) But there seemed to be nothing wrong at least with the PSU at the moment of using it.

Now I recently upgraded to a water cooling loop I made to test some overclocking, and that involved transplanting all the parts I had into a new case. After that I'm getting weird startups where when I press the power button, and it flickers to life, but shuts down after a second or two, then comes back to life just fine. Then the main problem is that under a ton of load, like in a game of sorts, the computer crashes in a way I haven't seen before, where a screen of grey and black bars go across one monitor while the other monitor in my selection goes white, leading me to believe it was the two crossfired cards I have.

After extensive tests done with my buddies system, and 100% load stress tests on both of the cards for around 24 hours... I determined it wasn't them.

I'm stuck between the PSU possibly being faulty and not being able to output its wattage correctly (RM750 PSU From Corsair with 80 plus gold)

Anyone else get this strange problem?

    Full system specs are:
    AMD-FX 8320 Black Edition CPU
2x8GB Crucial Ballistix RAM + 2x4GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
    Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 Mobo
    2x R9 270x's
    Corsair RM750 PSU
EK custom loop. (I checked for leaks through this whole thing, and no leaks even after days of shifting it around)

You're saying the sound represented a bitmap?

    Holy shit.

SSTV, a fun way of encoding messages into a WAV format. This method caught my attention when it was originally used after an update in Portal, in which some radios would emit an SSTV signal that could be decoded into image teasers of the second Portal game.

theres some noise on it because i just stuffed my headset mic between the cans and let it roll in off of soundcloud :P

Well its way better than my garbled mess. I tried to do it with the AC on full blast so it looked like a collage. :P

As Promised,. :P here's your gold star.

Maybe I should add a cipher for the next challenge.. and a certain key others may like. ;)

hate to say it, but i feel like that image is not up to the community standards :P

EDIT: should add, its a meme about a "manhood" being in a different place. to say it in a forum-safe way.

Hmmm, yes, I forgot what the image was myself, its a rather old puzzle. Thank you for not spoiling it entirely though, will fix. :)

  9. So, I've been upgrading my pc lately, I even gave it a new CPU and around 24GB of Ram just for fun, but I'm in desperate need of a new GPU, and just one. I've been crossfiring two R9 270x's and its just been one huge mess of an experience, be it absolute system failure under load, games and renderings glitching simply because the bridge the cards use are stuck... I just need a new one badly. Anyone know any alternatives that have at least 4GB of VRAM for around the 200$ to 250$ range? That's what the two cards and mobo cost me originally.

  10. Good evening ladies and gents of the Forum Community, I've been bored so I decided to go ahead and give you all a challenge.

In the below soundcloud link, there is a message hidden in it, if you can screenshot it and post the result below, you will win...

    ..."...a f*cking gold star." -Linus Sebastian, 2016

    Good luck.

    -E

FIX: Here is the direct link to the sound source: https://soundcloud.com/cant_find_a_damn_url/unknown

P.S. Did I mention a time constraint? You have until 7:00PM Easter Standard Time on Sunday the 12th of June until the soundcloud sound is taken down, and the secret is lost forever. Happy hunting. ;)

Newer AMD cards do not use bridges, are you using two identical 270x?

Actually no, but I jiggled the bridge on one of them and it fixed it. Just a bit loose on one card I guess.

One's and XFX and one's a Sapphire, and they both have the headers for the bridge
