  1. Hey guys, looking to mount a monitor above my main sim rig monitor. The only viable mounting spot I see is from the side of the main pillar. What solutions do you see to mount it best? All the monitor arms I found are meant to be table-mounted and therefor come from the bottom whereas if I go for TV mounts that do come from the wall I don't find any that support an aggressive downward tilt. If it helps at all for specific products: I'm in Germany looking forward to suggestions.
  2. Very good point the 4070 TI looks like well better value than the used 3080 TI at similar cost Actually surprised to hear something positive about it after all the outrage The PC part picker wattage listing is still well under 750w but I guess getting a new PSU would still be recommended to get fitting cables for the new GPU gen?
  3. new 3080 TI I would strongly disagree as they currently cost the same as the 4080 but I looked on the used market and they are somewhere between 750-850 which sounds way more manageable than the 1400€ of the new cards
  4. running a 32" 4k screen with 60hz but I wanna future proof a bit so while 1440 and 6hz might be an option for now it might not in a year what do you think about this one? https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/KLbnBj substantially more expensive so please criticize it to death xD and tell me where to save money. edit: would subsidize the 7700x for the new 7700
  5. That def. sounds interesting Do you think current gen graphics cards are not a good option yet?
  6. Hmm do you think 16gb will be enough with a couple of years in mind? What benefit would I have going DDR5 instead? Would the price difference to AMDs or Nvidias new graphics cards be worth it?
  7. Budget (including currency): 1500-2500€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA Games, Assetto Corsa Competizione Current PC I'm upgrading from: I7 6700K 16Gb DDR4 Gtx 1070 750w power supply 1tb m.2 ssd My Pc has started to get a bit aged and while I am still fairly capable of playing most titles in ok graphics I have the feeling its time to upgrade and be able to play games in stellar graphic on my 4k screen. I play a wide variety of games from new AAA games over smaller titles but also have a sim rig where I play a lot of ACC. I don’t do much productivity work on my personal machine so I don’t really need to take that into consideration. In the past I have always been quite up to date with tech and followed new releases closely but I realized that is not the case anymore and I need your help to decide what to chose for my new PC. I tend to go with latest tech most of the time but I’m open to be convinced of last generation if that is by far the wiser idea. Budget wise I’m pretty open. I would like my setup to last for a while and am willing to pay a bit more if that is needed but lets aim for 1500-2500€ and not go over that. Thank you in advance as I can need all your help
  8. Hey guys, looking into putting my own cable on a lightning connector... since you can't buy them (except from aliexpress) I was looking into using old lightning cables to get the connector. The end cable should be lightning to female usb. Now I tried that and the cable looks to work like the normal charging cable also for data transfer (tested with a small male to male connector and connected to my pc) but it does not have the desired functionality like apples lightning to female usb (camera connector) for reference apple cables: std lightning to usb camera adapter do you guys know if there is a difference in the chips used in the connectors? or any other tipps?
  9. how would you do tension release in that case? I imagine with just soldering cable to cable and putting heat shrink around that it would be quite fragile when pulling on the cable no?
  10. kinda also want the looks to be honest
  11. would be an option... but not sure if that helps on the "often die on me". Also very long delivery times. But thanks for the link
  12. Hey there, looking into custom making a lightning to USB cable as the no-name ones as well as the one from apple often die on me and are super short. I need a lightning to female USB like the ones marketed as camera connectors. I use it to connect my phone to an IFI Hip-Dac. My problem is mostly finding a lightning connector that is not already on a cable and ideally has a nice cable clamp or some other form of tension release. The idea came from this. If it's a success I might go as far as putting something like a mini xlr in between to hot-swap between male and female USB, but that's a different story then. Any Idea where to find or what to search for to find a lightning connector to work with? (I'm in Germany if that helps) thanks in advance
