  1. I care about it. My next setup will be built around the rift.
  2. That's right, the Oculus Rift DK1's "Firmware, Schematics and Mechanicals" are now all completely open source. Reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/2gwvd2/the_dk1_is_now_open_source_design_schematics_and/ Direct Link: https://github.com/OculusVR/RiftDK1 In my mind, this helps quash the talk of Facebook destroying the company. (Granted, that could still happen, but I've got a little more hope, at least). It reminds me of Tesla's move of opening up their patents. This, in theory, sets a baseline for VR headset quality, at least on a technical ability standpoint. There's no reason to have a headset that performs worse than the DK1, which was actually pretty good, all things considered. VR Tech, it's the future baby!
  3. It was a couple years back. I was on a rant about how much of a pain in the ass it was to keep up with noteworthy tech releases and a friend linked me the channel.
  4. The screen has to be top of my list. Although the contrast is a bit off putting. Dat resolution tho.
  5. Sooo, I have 9500ish subscribers... Is there a little bit of wriggle room on that 10k limit?
  6. -15 sounds about right from what I've found. "And use something like an arduino to control the peltier unit. Setup a control curve to keep the cpu temps ~ 5C ABOVE the dew point." That's become my line of thought too. There seem to be a couple of ways to keep the condensation down. If I properly insulate the system, I could get away with a lot cooler temperatures. The more I look into it, the more I think it's going to be a lot of trial and error. Good thing I have a draw full of old CPUs to burn through. I've played with a few end goals... One would be to hook it up to a 780 and ramp it up to get as much power as possible. The other would be a sustainable system for my server. One day I'm going to watercool the 8 sticks of DDR2 in that thing. It gets super hot.
  7. I stumbled on a graph before, you want around 60% antifreeze for the lowest temp. Not sure about alc though.
  8. I'm not sure how you're answering any of my questions. I'm aware of what's needed. What I don't know is if I need to mix antifreeze in with my coolant fluid. Is the liquid just water though? I know the fluids they put in car radiators have a lower than 0 freezing point, hence why I'm asking.
  9. Got any idea of what the temp is? This seems to be an ultra niche area of the cooling game. Not a lot of info out there.
  10. So, I'm playing around with the idea of Peltier cooling my rig. Just for shits n giggles. I was wondering, however, what the freezing temperature of your standard water cooling fluid is? I can't imagine chunks of ice would be good for my pump. Hah. Anyway. Thanks in advance!
  11. I got around the BF4 price by going through here: http://www.cdkeys.com/ Seems to be legit enough. And it all seems to be working ok.
  12. If you're worried, do the rice trick. Fill a bowl with rice and completely surround the part. Leave for a day or so to soak up moisture.
  13. I use them occasionally. I alternate between them and ComputerAlliance in brisbane. Only issue i've ever had with them was a PSU was DOA, sorted the whole thing out and refunded within a few days.
  14. I'm not super fussed about appearances, as long as it fits with the colour scheme. Everything is black and blue.
