  1. aye that is possibly true, we will need to wait and see I suppose, but the 4 core 8 thread still makes no sense as I doubt will be a thing, especially as an i3, i5 maybe, not i3 though, cause AMD, who have entirely been about P/P and cores hasn't done it, and I doubt intel of all company would try and under cut AMD in cores, or P/P and more go for preformance
  2. I could be wring here, but wouldn't the 4 core 8 thread (which I doubt is real) with it's extra 2 threads be better than the 6 core 6 thread i5 in multi threaded tasks or have I got that wrong?
  3. oh right that makes sense, as I said I wasn't particularly sure what you meant by "TR awar" but that makes more sense now you've said that
  4. depends what you mean by "TR aware" if by that you mean scale with cores better, then that might happen, we might get games which can use multiple threads, maybe even up to 32 (doubt it though, and if it does I doubt it'll be worth it) but I can see games slowly getting more benefit from more threads, I can definitely see them using up to maybe 12-16 threads soonish (in a year or two, not with the AAA games from this production cycle but probably with the one after, maybe) so there might be a point with it in the future, but yea your right at the moment there's not
  5. it's for people who do CAD rendering (which scales almost perfectly with cores) and other rendering tasks, and other workstation uses, it's not for the average joe who just wants a gaming machine these are for professionals who want/need the best performance
  6. you know any legitimate websites as I have seen several I have never heard of and don't know which ones are legitimate. And it's less a VM it's an old PC I have lying around which I am giving a use to. Eventually
  7. You wanna share? aye but I have too many old PCs with no uses so I may as well get a dedicated system which is actually running XP rather than a virtualbox (I might even shove a 760 in it as well (think it's a 760 I have)
  8. tried for several hours with both of them and no.
  9. Quite simply I have a couple of older games which don't play nicely with win 10, but do with XP, so I wanna install XP onto an old PC to play them. This PC will not be used for internet browsing etc. because I don't want to become riddled malware etc. I will be running other things off it too, maybe, I will need to wait and see. Can I get XP for free anywhere as I am guessing microsoft isn't selling it anymore so might be giving it away for free cause they wanna be nice for once.
  10. The tape and HDDs are both in a way similar, as the tape is done by manipulating the surface, in a similarish way to a HDD, the difference is in storage speeds, cost and capacities, as a tape far as I remember can have a lot more data stored onto it, per unit volume (anit saying a unit here as everyone has a difference preference, mines cm^3) than a HDD, but the tape required to do this costs more than a hard drive, the speed is also different as the HDD spins at a high RPM and it's arm can quickly move to the desired area to read the data, where as the tape needs to move a large amount of tape (in some cases several meters) in order to get to the data, which is a lot slower which is why tape is not used in storage on your PC at home or in most servers as it just isn't practical to do so.
  11. yes and no, sometimes they are cheaper than other places, but yea quite often it's not
  12. wowowo woo! lets be serious here, it's not that simple, you also have to put the thermal paste on, and maybe even a CPU cooler, which as we all know is a hard thing to do
  13. I'll be honest I have it pinned, and never even release, A) I could unpin it B) that it was even at the top of my screen when I scrolled down
  14. oh I imagine that is true but our politicians smurt and that might be possible with their wording etc.
  15. I agree it's good to a point there is some cases where it's not, but in most yea it's good. Mainly the who's your relatives ones, and possibly it would be good to know, I doubt this law could stop the police from storing your DNA and finger prints though, I would imagine they weren't that dumb to make it that you can get the police to remove your data
  16. yea tiny detail of stupidity how we are getting dragged out of the EU by england
  17. the Ryzen 1950X might hand intel a new one when it comes to multicore performance from the looks of, it's hard to say for sure, but it looks like it quite possibly will. (AMD 32*3.4=108.8 vs intel 36*2.6=93.6, so assuming clock to clock are equivalent the AMD 16 core will be about 10% faster (very rough estimate, it's hard to say) in multi core performance)
  18. yes but Britain is leaving the EU meaning that it possibly wouldn't have the law when it did, so this is them making sure it is, by passing it through our parliament as well making it part of our laws rather than EU laws which we may not be following soon
  19. Aye possibly I haven't kept up with the stupidity of trump, and it was more an example of what could happen, rather than what will happen
  20. no some companies store your DNA data, ancestor.com for example, and yea their end game is a tad unclear as I am not sure if this is being done just to please the EU (as they are also trying to implement something similar) or if this is being done because they generally believe in privacy (but as I said they are against encryption so I am doubtful on this one)
  21. oh in some cases yea it's great and I'm surprised our government is even thinking about this but in others less so, but on the whole I think it's not to bad It's hard to say, as I said it's unclear in places, as it might be your able to literally disappear from the internet by deleting everything about you, or something much less extreme.
  22. The UK government is planning to implement a new law which means that you will be able to communicate with a company that you want them to delete certain data they have of yours. This means that posts etc. you will be able to be delete certain posts etc. which you have made in the past. This is good as it means that if you made a comment in the past you don't stand by now or similar it means you can delete it meaning people won't see you once thought that, issues is though is what can you remove as it may mean that you could remove something important etc. like Theresa May deleting one of her old posts etc. (or in a way like trump doing it if ever spreads to America) which are in a way shouldn't be deleted as they are public records and insights into what they are thinking. This law could also increase the fines which companies get when data is leaked which makes a bigger deterrent for companies to actually protect the data, as although to most people £500,000 is a hell of a lot of money to companies like google it's not. There is still issues and much to be desired with this law though, as well that quote sums it all up I think this is kinda contradictory to the governments stance on encryption considering they are against privacy there but for it here. The law like many laws is still unclear of what it could do though, as it could mean that something that shouldn't be deleted might be, so it's a difficult one at times, as in some cases this is great in others less so. 23. ok right, yes this is bad for gamers, but same time it is good for AMD and miners. Because good mining hash rates means they can mine faster etc. and it also means AMD can sell lots of cards, which obviously is a good thing for them in their position, That and also they are making vega slightly less appealing to miners and more towards gamers, so that's also good. So lets be honest this is a shame if your a gamer, but miners and AMD anit going to be complaining if it means they make money off it
