    Security VLAN?

On a managed switch it is totally doable. You could lock the traffic to mac addresses AND flow (what TCP/UDP ports). Still hackable? yes. But it will keep out the casuals.
  3. Alright then, Open the Device Manager and in the properties of the device you need drivers for open up the "Details" tab. Change the "Property" box to "Hardware Ids" and post the strings on here. This is what will tell us what hardware ID string Windows sees and help you find the maker/model/revision of it. I've included a picture to reference below. Right click on the strings, choose "select all" and right click on the selection again and choose "copy". You can now paste all the strings in your reply and we should be able to find who made that device pretty quickly.

    Security VLAN?

It really depends what type of stream the cameras have - if the footage is UDP transport (one way only) it may just work, but I would check on that first. It seems very simple to buy a managed switch (Cisco, Juniper, etc) and only accept the traffic you want from the cameras on the network. I'd probably get myself a cheap Catalyst Cisco 100MB switch and go from there on Ebay.

  6. Thank you. Sometimes I feel the rules are too far reaching for no reason.
  7. Is this something we should test? I can make a comparison between samba performance and NFS if someone would find this informative.
  8. 9. NFS works fine if you can use that. There is an NFS client in Windows 7 if you want SPEED http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/nfs-client-for-windows-7/42aae25d-d077-4ff9-abdf-7314a589c46d?auth=1
  10. No need for display port? interesting. I think it should only be a short time for TVs to get it as well! This is GREAT news. Now you can possibly game to a wall mounted monitor failry far compared with what you can do with display port. This will be a great addition to all media centers who need to eliminate video tearing. Now if only we could get it at hig refresh rates and bigger (50 inches+) Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-freesync-hdmi-display,31332.html Source: https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-expands-curved-monitor-portfolio-with-three-new-1800r-curvature-displays?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000279
  11. Your pinout is likely to be wrong if the 4 pairs are fine. Notice how it's ALWAYS white/color before color (i.e. White/Orange then Orange) EXEPT for the 2 in the middle which are Blue first and white/blue second. Please check your pinout and fix it accordingly.
  12. It's not only doable it's standard. Let me know exactly what you have in mind with a graph and I'll show you how.
  13. What is the model of your ISP Box? it also needs to be 1000Base-T compatible for it to work.
  14. Make sure your adapter is in 1000Base-T or Auto mode. Make sure you are using a Cat5E cable or greater that has all 8 connectors wired - if you miss one it won't work. Get a different cable first, then check your drivers second.
