    The X-650 is a great unit. If you wanna save money get the G-650.

    Yes, 550W is enough. Seasonic SSR-550RM or Rosewill Capstone 550W are good units. As stated above, go for a cheaper RAM, as these don't benefit in terms of performance. Use that money to get a 256GB SSD or something else.

    HX750i/850i are very good units. Full japanese capacitors, silent fan & platinum rating. There aren't many reviews because they are fairly new units.

    Since you got a new PSU, and the problem still exists, it must be your motherboard. If it's under warranty, get it RMA'ed.

    They are quiet below 50% load. Starting pulling more & they become audible.

    Since you got a new PSU, and the problem still exists, it must be your motherboard. If it's under warranty, get it RMA'ed.

    It depends on the PSU you have. Check how much power the 12V rail has & the total wattage of the unit.
    You won't have any problem using a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter if the power supply is capable.

    Save some more money & get a 650Ti boost. Preferably the MSi variant. The heat output won't be much.
