  1. Did you try turning it off and back on again? In all honesty after power loss sometimes you just need to turn it off, unplug it for a few, and start it again. Other than that it may have been damaged or corrupted. Give us some details and we can try to help(NAS or the build, OS, etc)
  2. Not really, I'm sure theres some way, but it would be chaotic. Depending on the room you could just clone it then move the other stuff back or reinstall windows to the ssd then set the libraries to the old drive/library location. New install is safer but more work
  3. Wheres the LTT headshop thread
  4. If that was the case it would already happen with thumbs up, funny, agree, informative, etc. People would be making dozens of accounts to follow themselves and agree with themselves on everything. I doubt one more reputation stat, even if slightly more definitive or pertinent than others, woulf be the tipping point.
  5. I would like to believe this would leave to great physical abilities but I'm fairly sure this just leads to furry escorts
  6. 8gb or 80gb? I would just install fresh from a usb or cd onto the drive since youd have hardware and driver problems even if you did boot from the old install.
  7. Are you computers on the same network/wifi ? assuming they are check this out http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/how-to-set-up-file-sharing-on-windows-10 not the best guide but should work well
  8. file sharing/network folders or ftp or cloud storage. You could also try some kind of usb bridge.
  9. Not that the thumbs up and agrees don't testify to ones reputation, but I think there should be a tally kept on one's profile of how many times they were marked as best answer. Ignoring those marked by themselves(the OP puts their own comment as best answer). Just another bar with the likes and agrees.
  10. Its really not, many linux distros spring from it. Typical gui install and built up more than arch just more raw than mint. I would think kali or tails or whonix or perhaps arch (depending on how much work you did) would be better for security unless you took debian and built your own set of security on top. The only OS with security issues i've heard about recently was ubuntu, which was privacy not really security. I believe that was resolved though its rep is forever ruined. (ubuntu is the child of debian and the mother of most mints). As mentioned though, its was the site, which could happen to an OS and we wouldn't know til afterwards. You can still use mint, just grap a fresh copy or an older one if you have if you downloaded the iso during the time of the hack.
  11. That would be nice, I'm listed as RedWulfTech everywhere but here, I'd like to keep it consistent. I can however see why they would want to make people keep their names, otherwise trolls would just hop names left and right.
  12. You don't... Theres been a load of threads made about building laptops, unless you know or are a plastic/component manufacture then you're not going to get a case or computer of any size to be called a laptop. You can maybe get a brief case sized one at which point you might as well get a mini itx with a handle and save a couple grand. The other option is a barebones build which is the battery, case, and mobo and screen fit into a case. However those probably wont fit 2 drives. You'll also need to consider your gpu and that laptops dont use "normal ram" if thats what you have. There was someone else on here who had went as far as a battery and a case, not sure what happened of that. You could always just buy a laptop thats broken or not as good and upgrade it.
  13. Id be all over debian if it had support or was even just more widely used.
  14. most any os can, even windows. But your best option is mint 32 bit, its friendly to windows users and its lights so it should run on most any system you'll find. Same process, download the iso from its website and use rufus, lili, or yumi to burn it to the usb. You can use most any linux distro(ubuntu, mint, zorin, fedora, suse) the same way.
  15. That happens, honestly all you can do is let time and work build your rep and try to get some certifications. Don't forget to ask your customers to rate you on facebook or yelp.
  16. You might partner with one or two of the guys doing it on the side or see if one of the shops are hiring. Or just kinda slowly build your business and rep while doing an unskilled job. Facebook is always a good place to advertise, local groups and a business page. I hear that, its feast or famine, thats where planning and crunching come in. It won't be the easiest thing at first, but once you get some savings you can dip into it during slow periods and replace it when you get busy again. Also, though it will be harder to get going you could do online customs. PS on this site you can quote or use the @"username" thing to let someone know you responded.
  17. I ordered a $10 webcam at 4am yesterday guess will see how bad it really is for the OP, I actually had a usb hub sitting in my cart for like 2 months I forgot to order until I needed it again.
  18. Depending on where you live you could do tech repair all day everyday, you'd probably be best off with a partner or an employer though. I live in a town of about 6-8 thousand and there are 3 computer/tech repair shops that stay in business as well as a few guys doing it on the side. You could study/train and get certification in various repairs and electronics(phone repair is big).
  19. Get a legitimate windows or another method Virus scan(s)
  20. Theres no one real tool, as mentioned kali has a set of tools used for it though. Either way, yes someone can just pull into your parking lot and break the wifi, depending on your security though it may not be simple. I would block the service or port if you can, change the password, and make sure the others allowed access aren't giving it out or letting others use their connected devices. You could monitor the usage, find the device(s) using torrents/no-no site/common ports and either confront the employee or black list it or setup a white list of devices.
  21. Have you tried switching ports around with the mouse and keyboard? Does it notice thumb drives? Have you tried other things or just those two? (it may just be an issue with the device) Can you try a powered hub? Try updating the drivers, as always.
  22. Learn the languages and functions... Programming languages aren't like "human" languages, they don't translate easily. I'm not very familiar with PHP but someone else here may be able to help you if you can provide the code and use.
  23. 02 mustang with a custom paint job, so I guess an i3 with a 720 and a color scheme.
  24. When you say it won't boot, nothing happens(no fans or hdd spin) or just no display? Are you sure the memory is compatible?
