  1. I can't think of a good way to do this from the top of my mind. Even attempting this has a high chance of killing the motherboard through damaging something in the process. I guess on paper if you can cleanly remove the plastic housing the the metal leads completely it should be the same as being unplugged. I would just make sure none of the pads from where the pins were are shorting into each other and completely remove the pins. As for how I'd do it, I'd probably use a heat gun to melt the plastic and slowly and gently pry at it until it comes off the board. Then cut all the pins off the board and ensure what ever is left is not touching (maybe even cover the pads with electrical tape) Be very careful because the heat/prying could vary easily damage other components in the system and you may not even notice it until you are finished. I definitely don't advise you do this on anything you actually want to keep or will be upset if it no longer works.
  2. Its pretty picked through but still live. Interesting none the less. Honestly though, a lot of the orders sold at a loss will probably be cancelled.
  3. Most likely an error, but everything on the Ebay page is listed at $59.99. Some redditors claim to have purchased $2000 laptops and 4TB NVME SSD's. Check it out. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?sid=adata_usa&isRfine=true&_pgn=1 Credit to

  6. Rack servers are not built with noise in mind, nobody cares, its a server. So they generally are made of all aluminum and to maximize air flow with no consideration for noise.
  7. NAS's are a slippery slope. It starts off as just a couple of drives in an old pc. Then it runs out. You find yourself buying more drives for the NAS but its never enough. You buy expansion cards but you still need more. Next thing you know you have 2 pc cases full of hard drives all running the same server, but even that isnt enough. The Linux Isos are taking too much space! So you buy a budget 24 drive chassis from amazon, but now you have open slots. Gotta fill the slots to get your moneys worth right? Great, now to buy more drives. Oh, no! Now the 8Tb drives are cheap and your 2Tb drives are getting old. You go on /r/datahoarders and see that WD EasyStores are on sale at Best Buy, so you buy all that they have in stock to shuck the drives. MUST FEED THE NAS. The clerk is giving you a dirty look when you come back for more drives again and again, time after time... send help.
  8. What model router do you have?
  9. Are you getting a bsod when it restarts? As long as your temps are under 100C you will be fine, though lower is better. If you are getting a bsod you can use software such as blue screen view to determine what the cause of it was.
  10. Meme Magic Edit: I love how this is this guys first post on a tech forum and its about memes.
  11. This might just be my cheap ass speaking, but personally, I prefer 1 very nice monitor and and whatever is cheapest as secondary monitors. I've found that I always prefer one monitor and my secondary monitors just have whatever shit I have open, (teamspeak, netflix, coinbase, etc).
  12. On that budget, he will get more bang for his buck with a refurbished laptop. I personally daily drive an Acer Re-certified Nitro 5, which has not had any problems. Provided you are tech savvy, you could get a great deal. The downside is, the warranty is only 30 days. Take a look at the site, but I would look for something with an i5 and a minimum of 8GB of RAM. https://acerrecertified.com/laptops/?sort=priceasc&_bc_fsnf=1&Processor+Type=Intel+Core+i5 Something like this might work, but I would suggest replacing the HDD with an SSD. https://acerrecertified.com/acer-aspire-15-6-intel-i5-7200u-2-5-ghz-8gb-ram-1-tb-hdd-windows-10-home/
  13. If your on a tight budget I would recommend 16gb of RAM, if you have some wiggle room I would do 32gb. I don't think you will need it but the difference in cost between 2x8gb and 2x16gb is not that great.
