  1. With Apple Power Mac G3 made in 1999 can you use any hard drive and power supply? does it use atx psu and ide hard drives the same as a pc? can i take hard drives and cd rom drives from a pc and use it on a old power mac?

  3. My old motherboard has a standard fan cooling system. I bought a new motherboard and the pin holes are different like a rectangle and the cpu is at an angle like a dell precision 380. How do i know which heatsink to buy and how do i mount it in the holes? also the cpu is at an angle wouldn't i be putting the heatsink on top of the cpu and doesn't match the angle?
  4. do i make a dos iamage file to boot? or just put the dos file on a disc the way it is?
  5. do i make the bios an image file?
  6. i'm confused about ms-dos, do i need to make a dos disk to boot the computer after reseting the cmos, or do i just put the bios on a disc?

    bios

one board is dell (just stays in boot screen) and other intel (uses floppy disc) they are old and i had one up and running but not the other
  8. When making a disc with bios, do i just put the bios on one disc or does it need to be on a disc with ms-dos? do i format a dos disc and then put the bios on it, or do i just have a disc with bios on it? i have two with problems. one asks for the bios, like "no bios disk found" or something like that. it calls for a floppy disk and i haven't made the disk as of yet. i reset the cmos, when i found out later that all was really wrong was i wasn't plugging in the cpu power (ha, ha), but i had already reset the cmos. i think it doesn't always call for bios when the cmos is reset though. the other, just goes to the boot screen ("loading bios" and i think something wrong with the bios)and not go to the bios screen, and i think i have to reset the cmos and i'm afraid of haveing to boot the bios etc.

    bios

i've never done this before. When making a disc with bios, do i just put the bios on one disc or does it need to be on a disc with ms-dos? do i format a dos disc and then put the bios on it, or do i just have a disc with bios on it? can anyone explain how to format the disc etc.?
  11. I have a dell motherboard i bought used on ebay and tried to boot it up. The boot screen just goes to loading bios and then shuts off. It does not go into the bios screen. does this mean the former owner reset the cmos and i need to flash the bios or is this some other problem?
  12. Can i install ram that is differrent speed as long as it is ddr3? like i have 1333MHz ram and the manual only calls for 2400MHz. Just as long as it is ddr3?
  13. my question is, would the 8 cache help with other tasks besides gameing? like everyday work tasks and programs like dreamweaver, and adobe premiere
  14. I have bought some really nice cpus. I want to make 2 computer builds with 2 or 3 specific purposes. one is specifically for windows seven pc games (lke sim city) I know the 3.4 ghz helps with video games. the other is a audio/video production computer like a recording studio, (maybe a gaming pc) i have alot of intel 3.40ghz and 4m cache cpus I have one that is really a nice intel 2.40ghz 8m cache quad processor. my question is the large 8m cache, I guessed and I think i should use it for the recording audio/video studio and that the cache would help with large video files being edited. Should i use it for that purpose and not games like a computer that i use for work wordprocessing, audio/video production etc.? all would have 8gb ram.
  15. I have a 20 pin power supply that has no 4 pin connector! http://microdream.co.uk/review/product/list/id/3940/category/13/#.V1nnOPXYia4 Hipro model: hp-235nlxak It only has Molex connectors. It is either really old or I think it is one of these Amp connectors and is missing an attachment? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector I have found an attachment could you help me with installing an attachment. picture attached. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812423185&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Cables+-+Internal+Power+Cables-_-N82E16812423185&gclid=CJjK1tv5m80CFZSCaQodc8ME9A&gclsrc=aw.ds it is also low wattage at 96w on the 12v rail.
