I don’t really know what happened back when I was gone for more than a month but I’m guessing many political status updates went south and became a cesspool of hostile ad hominem attacks, regardless of the spectrum they identify. 

Personally, I’ve made quite the number of political, religious status updates in the past. But if you ask me, I’m fine with their decision because many people can’t be trusted to be nice when their worldview and opinions are challenged. Imagine a bunch of people signing up for the forum not because of tech stuff but they saw a political/religious status update they either agree or not. I mean, I once saw a status reply from someone with zero content count, then later sent me a message about sensational stuff which I eventually ignored.
