  1. Thank you very much for the advice and the compliment which I find is helping my decision. Good luck with the Oculus Rift S!
  2. Thanks for your questions, I updated the OP. I have everything on the list. I picked that monitor to use for connecting my DELL XPS 13 2in1 and my workplace assigned laptop, and to playing most game genres.
  3. Desired outcome: productivity (video editing, virtual machines, etc.) and current gaming on the 49" DELL (60 Hertz, OC potential to ~75, I believe). To be frank, I want to also enter the VR arena, so I guess that might mean bring on a new graphics card? What would you do; replace everything or keep any of it? I want a rig to stay with me a while (3+ years) so if the case I have is a good choice for staying current on motherboard sizes, I think I'll just keep it, though RGB and watercooling is a fun splurge I'll go for. Budget: What is best done (+/- $250) up to $1,000, $2,000, and $3,000? 4. Please understand people don't read posts posted whilst they're typing a reply to another post. Wish there was a timestamp that said "started to reply to thread".
  5. 1: Done. 2: Mea culpa. 3: If you wish to educate, a subforum for discussion would be better than a unpinned topics, IMHO. Thank you.
  6. This is an attitude I strongly disagree with. Build it and they will come. Plus, if I were to tag every topic I see that related to security, I could fill up that forum with 10 pages after an hour, I'm sure.
  7. Any chance we can get a subforum dedicated to discussing the security aspects of hardware and software? I.e., a more proper place to have posted my thread on Privacybox and Nitrokey.
  8. There is surprisingly little chatter online about Privacybox, a physically-in-German fully-encrypted, open source cloud storage service set to launch this fall (they're in beta, ATM). I have been following the development of NitroKey, which is how I picked up on Privacybox. Is anyone here familar with any of these two?
  9. Get a sharpening belt and a straight blade razor. You'll never need another blade again. Great heirloom item potential, too.
  10. I'm sorry to hear about your father. Hopefully you will be able to have a still mind and reflect a little on what kind of person he's taught you to be, and let that come through in your final good-bye. If it were I who were dying, I think I'd wish for people to quickly say their piece (unless it was just already understood) so we could spend the rest of the time not being incapacitated from the inevitable. I'm sure your father knows you love him and you could just tell him "I love you" and be done with that part. I hope you find peace and mindfulness.
  11. I wish they would go back to the best version (HOMM II) and just refine it... no other comment at this time.
  12. I would, off the top of my head, say there are the horizontal BEHOLD-MY-FLOPPY-DISK-DRIVES style and the more modern (at the time, hehe) turbo button style. With a style chosen, might be easier to help you find a case. Sounds like a neat project, keep us posted!
  13. Oooooo, back it up... beep beep beep.

  15. First, take all advice you read on the Internet with a kilo of salt. Second, you're young and still developing - keep this in mind before you jump on anything that seems like a great idea. At your age, the best advice I would give you is to join a team sport and have fun. Because, having fun is how you'll stick to it. Also, know that you can be very strong and not look like a body builder, and you can look like a body builder and not be very strong. Third, take all advice you read on the Internet with an additional kilo of salt. Fourth, at your age it is normal to have body image issues. Truly, this world is drowning in unhealthy body images. That's why the "fun" part is so important. It will help you figure out who you are, which is what growing up is all about. I hope you find and listen to your inner voice, and remember it's OK to learn (SALT!) new things and change your mind. If you feel scrawny, that's more a state-of-mind problem. Results take at least 2 months, unless you're in a position where you're trying to loose weight, which may go faster with plain ol' weight training. For best (SALT!) results, mimic those you want to be like/look like, but just don't go "extreme". Did I mention salt?
  16. Let's expand upon the scenario; would a single 980 Ti run 3440x1440 with the same companions and usage? (I'm presuming 2560x1440 when people say 1440.)
  17. I think it's neat that people care for that sorta thing, but to me it matters not. I prefer a stealthy setup that allows me to focus on video and audio. That's what makes the experience to me. That said, I'm not adverse to subtle ambient lighting in the peripheral vision that changes based on the colors of the scene on my screen.
  18. This might interested you, from Handy Tech Under $100, episode 2.
  19. I like the Chemex, reminds me to slow down and that I don't need a machine for every baldercrapping thing in my life (plus I like "analog stuff" that still works after the power's out). Medium and dark roasts, usually picked up from a local Peet's.
