MooTaters's Achievements

  1. Truly a sad day. I was even thinking about getting another Surface 1030(L) since mine is nearly a decade old. I would have had respect for them if they just took ownership(bankrolled them maybe?), and maybe worked with them for a special line of products, but no...demolish what was Func, and make it into something completely else(Edit:or rather rebrand everything as your own/edit). And like you said, double-dip with an indiegogo campaign...because they couldn't just leave Func alone and make their own company.
  2. I originally found ltt by searching for someone to explain what Nvidia's Titan was, and in a manner that was meaningful and not just marketing bollocks that means nothing. Through ltt I've also found many other tech YouTubers, so thank you for spreading the love and sharing other channels' names for us to check out.
  3. Do you mean nail polish remover? If I recall correctly some super glue bottles even recommend it's use if you get it on your skin...which I swear it's impossible not to.
  4. It likely depends on the glass cleaner and is along the lines of how you shouldn't use a sharpie on a CD/DVD/Bluray disc, yet people do it and things work out. As I've been told, the acid(or something) from the markers can seep through and screw things up on the disc. I'm sure there are some glass cleaners with acids or other things in them that aren't good for LCD monitors.
  5. If you had paid attention, you would realize that Ruostunut was purely answering the question with a likely answer, and is not the same person as wackyalex.
  6. So much face palm...I don't know how much more my face can take.
  7. Thinking about this has me dreading the future somewhat. I mean with AIO's being the new thing with people saying things like "I don't want the tower I just want the computer." Situations like this will only become more common and probably more obnoxious.
  8. I lost the game. My dad started calling every tablet an iPad, kind of annoyed me when I have a Xoom and he would say "your iPad." I'm sure others have had similar experiences with people who call any PMP an iPod.
  9. Eh, depends on the person you get, but I guess you could say that about a lot of things. I was surprised when I bought 3.5mm extension cord at Radio Shack(yes, we still have one), the guy asked if I was using it for my phone, I told him it was for my PC. He asked what kind of PC I had and talked a bit about hardware with me, at the time I had just upgraded from my old C2D E8400 to my 4670k, he had some AMD chip I think a phenom of some sort that he felt it was time to upgrade from. I was honestly somewhat surprised to run into another builder...or at least I assumed he was, as he actually knew what hardware he had and that the C2D was pretty good for its time. Also talked a bit about games, was not long after the titanfall beta. Oh and fyi key word there would be looking, at least with that I got an idea of what she wants. Even my dad's been trained finally to know that newegg and amazon can often be a better price.
  10. I was in best buy the other day with my aunt helping her look at PC's, I could build her one...but I don't know that she even knows that. Anyways, while we were looking around at regular desktops I heard a lady say to some employee "I want a PC without the tower." At first I was rather confused, then laughed a little inside thinking "she wants a PC without the computer." Of course what she meant was she wanted an All-in-One, it just confused me at first until I realized that...thought it was kind of funny.
  11. I don't think I've ever really had this problem where another family member's problems have been blamed on me. Well I guess there was the time that my dad's PC's HDD died upon a reboot I did because he never restarted that 7 year old machine, let alone shut it off when it was not in use. But I don't know how serious he was about blaming me for it, plus he figured it's about time for an upgrade anyways. Most of my family members that I help out though are rather thankful and problems generally don't seem to blow back on me.
  12. I just remembered this, but my younger cousin was talking about how much he loved linux because it's free...along with saying he got "CoD for free." His parents are rather frugal and I guess since they got a new family PC they let their son have the old one(so it likely wasn't that high end of a PC), and he took it to best buy since they have some geek squad membership. This apparently was where he found out about linux as he asked them if they could do anything to speed it up, and I guess one of their guys was into linux and even though they aren't supposed to he told him he could put ubuntu on it. Though I didn't say anything on it, I did wonder how he claimed to get a Call of Duty game free, as Activision is still as greedy as ever with that series. Didn't say anything about it as I didn't care to get into any argument or anything of the sort. I did however wonder how he went about getting it free, or if he actually mistook another game for being Call of Duty. In the end he seemed to be under the impression that because linux and many programs in the ubuntu library(marketplace or whatever they call it...haven't touched ubuntu or any linux in quite some time) are free, it automatically made Call of Duty free for him.
  13. I'm guessing it's an old book...and possibly referring to old CPU's that may have had a thermal pad. Then again I could be mistaken, I just remember hearing a long time ago about something other than thermal paste(that I'm pretty sure was just a type of thermal pad) that was similar to wax. Still would think that's a bad idea and if anything today, running a stress test would do just fine... And you could touch the Capacitors in a PSU, if they were all drained, heck might live even if they weren't...I definitely wouldn't risk it though. And a hard drive might function without the cover in the right conditions, like a special clean room...but if I recall correctly the space between the platter and the read/write head is smaller than a particle of smoke.
