Yea, I think you're right. Might as well upgrade all in one go, when the market is better. Thanks.

^^ From your specs I'd look at a PC upgrade before a monitor upgrade.  You aren't gonna be gaming at 1440 or higher resolution on that setup.  So just ride out with your setup until you are ready to upgrade everything I'd say.

If it's doing everything you need it to, I wouldn't upgrade. The most I would do is upgrade your CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

The current PC component market is only really bad with GPU and RAM prices, but 8Gb DDR4 isn't too expensive if you don't give a crap for aesthetics.

Get a GTX 960 or GTX970... Nvidias GPU drivers have lower CPU overhead, so your Phenom would get WAY better performance (CPU wise) then using a AMD GPU....

If not using an i5, you should think twice before using AMD GPUs for now.... that CPU overhead DOES matter, and with your old CPU, you need all the CPU power it can gather... Nvidias drivers also support multi-core draw-calling, while AMD is purely single core...

Certainly, the phenom series, escpecially the 1070 series, and 1090 series, are all still pretty good cpus by todays standards.
They actually have better single-core performance than the fx series, clock per clock. However, I'd rank them more on par with first gen I5's, like the i5 750/60

So, they're not bad, but they're not great.

Yes, go ahead and upgrade the gpu, you can certainly get more from your system by doing that. Once you get your hands on anything like a 380X or 970, then look at maybe upgrading the cpu. At that point you would start to see more and more cpu bottlenecks.

You could even get something higher then upgrade the rig in a few months to get improved CPU. (I tend to do CPU/Mobo/RAM),(GPU), and (HDD, SSDs) on alternate upgrades (if needed). Hence I currently have a (5930K, Rampage V, 64GB DDR4), (R9 290 Flashed to a 290X) and (Crucial M500 + Samsung 840 Pro and other HDDs that get replaced if they fail.)

Depending on budget something like a 970.

The one thing I would say that will make a tremendous difference is get yourself an SSD and do a CLEAN install of windows.
     You wont regret the SSD.

I moved from a quad drive raid 0 to an SSD a couple years ago and saw a HUGE performance increase.

You could throw anything up to a 285 and not see any detrimental bottlenecks. The Phenom CPUs have aged really well, especially compared to ANYTHING in the FX series.

A1100t is still pretty decent and is about onpar with the FX6300 iirc.
Something along the lines of a 380 would be nice and not bottleneck it.

Nah. It'll be fine. Go for it, man. Just note that Radeon's are getting more and more power hungry so you might need a new PSU too.
