  1. Have you considered sacrificing some kittens to our lord Satan?
  2. Hi, I needed to copy files from a Bitlocker secured external SSD to a Windows Server 2012 computer, but I couldn't get the drive to open. I plugged it into another PC on the network that runs Windows 10 and wanted to copy it over the network (the server is mapped as a network drive) The connection was only 11 MB/s. Considering we're talking about some 80GB of backups I was not willing to settle with that. I noticed that the PC and server are plugged into a 100Mb router, so I plugged them to a dumb 1Gb switch that's already a part of the network setup. Both PCs and the switch recognized the connection to be Gigabit so I tried again 10,4MB/s. I tried rebooting both machines, using different cables, all with the same results. Another PC on the network also transfers at max. 100Mb speeds so I am led to believe it's a configuration issue. However due to it being a work environment I cannot simply run netcfg -d because it's a small business environment and I am not familiar enough with some of the programs to alter settings they depend on. Both server and the first PC are SSD based so there shouldn't be any bottleneck there. Where and how can I troubleshoot this issue?
  3. Did you try removing the little CMOS battery?
  4. ohhh boi you in trouble Disconnect everything that's not essential - GPU, peripherals except keyboard and monitor, plug monitor into iGPU and try to force the computer to POST in safe mode Try unplugging the drive and see if you at least can get to the BIOS. If you have another computer around, try if the drive gets detected in it, download CrystalDiskInfo and post the readings, and BACK UP ALL YOUR IMPORTANT DATA.

  8. Ryzen 5 3600 is probably better for editing as it's faster single core, and it's better value because it's really similar to the 3600X
  9. I keep forgetting the RX5700 series ?? I guess that's what happens when you buy into the Nvidia ecosystem

  11. The title says "CPU" instead of "GPU"
  12. The one major downside of the Meshify C. For now, I would suggest a 6-8TB internal hard drive, and one external one with adequate capacity as backup. Long term I'd suggest you look at the used market in your area or try to find old hardware lying around to build a dedicated NAS box. Personally I intend to go that route with the Fractal Design Node 304 and a mini ITX MB with 6 or more SATA ports.
  13. I mean it's basically Samsung 970 EVO PLUS performance for quite a bit less money.
  14. ASUS X570-TUF is actually really good for the price - lot's of I/O, solid VRM, version with WiFi... The only downside is that it only has 2 x16 PCIe slots, with the bottom one being wired to the chipset at x4 electrical, so if you need 2 PCIe slots connected directly to the CPU Czech out the ASUS X570-PRO
  15. It's by no means comprehensive, but my testing of various settings suggests that lowering Vcore using negative offset helps with boost clocks more than pretty much anything (to a point) PBO pretty much just gives the chip more voltage, which causes it to increase in temperature, which in turn makes it boost to lower frequencies. I suggest you look at boost clocks with PBO explicitly disabled in BIOS. Lastly, rumor has it MSI BIOS is broken and so the CPUs don't boost correctly (don't know if it's still the case though)
  16. That's a shame, because it's the only software that reports clocks and core states accurately and overall is an actually good piece of software. Aside from the VBS bug. That's ridiculous.
  17. A400 is garbagio look at Seagate Barracuda SSDs, Crucial BX500 and MX500, Kingston UV500 and WD Blue SSDs
  18. I'd go with the faster 3600 - Photoshop and some video editing software prefer speed over number of threads, and gaming performance of the 3600 is not much behind the 3700X. It will do 1440p completely fine. If you actually have a use case for more cores, the 2700X is a great option too.
  19. Yeah it has those macro keys, if you used them on the G710+ it's probably better than the K70mk2, and if you're okay with the price then I suppose it's the most similar replacement
  20. If you can find a G710+ new, go for it. If not, Czech out Corsair STRAFE Mk.2 and K70 Mk.2
  21. Hi! Look for keyboards with Cherry MX Brown switches. The G710+ has unfortunately been discontinued.
  22. So I started some (not very scientific) testing and apparently there's a bit of a difference between PBO "auto" and PBO "disabled" (BIOS settings, still no Ryzen Master) Cinebench R20 with PBO disabled, -0,0375V Vcore = 4400 points (actual Vcore under load between 1.2 and 1.3V), sustained max. frequency 3,85GHz Cinebench R20, PBO disabled, -0,0625V Vcore = 4450 points (actual Vcore under load between 1.15 and 1.2V), sustained max. frequency 3,9GHz Cinebench R20, PBO "auto", -0,0625V Vcore = 4600 points (actual Vcore under load between 1.3 and 1.35V), sustained max frequency 4,05GHz Up to +10°C on Tdie with PBO "auto" Also the CPU is consistently pulling 105W Package power under load. 1.25 Manual Vcore = BSOD on startup 1.275 manual Vcore = BSOD on running Cinebench R20 Cinebench R20, PBO disabled, 1.3V manual Vcore = 3500 (!) points, actual Vcore 1.262V, sustained max frequency 3.2GHz (replicated multiple runs) Cinebench R20, PBO "auto", 1.3V manual Vcore = 4250 points, actual Vcore 1.256 - 1.262V, sustained max frequency 4.05GHz Cinebench R20, PBO "enabled", voltage and frequency boost maxxed manually, 1.3V manual Vcore = 4250 points, actual Vcore 1.256 - 1.262V, sustained max frequency 4.075GHz Cinebench R20, PBO "auto", Vcore auto = 4650 points, actual Vcore 1.35 - 1.357 V, sustained max frequency 4.05GHz, 125W CPU package power, +10°C under load compared to highest previous temperature Preliminary conclusions: 1) Offset undervolting is more beneficial than manual Vcore 2) Unless explicitly disabled, PBO is ALWAYS active 3) additional validation required @GabenJr
