  1. PS3 was a very cheap DVD player when it first launched. It fit in with other hardware in a home media setup at the time. It used the new DVD format which movies quickly got on board with and the game lineup when it launched was great. There were alot of 3rd party support as well. All signs of a great console. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony took a hit for every PS2 sold...

  2. Depending on how they want it regulated it could be ok...It seems to be a slippery slop to regulating other things on the internet that people would be scared about. The company selling these fakes should hold some responsibility as they are the ones giving the scammers the platform the do this. There is a difference between a random scammer here or there but the site itself seems to be a complete pool of people scamming or giving false information about products. They should be held to the same standard as other stores where they are responsible for items sold on their store.

  3. I would say use something like connectwise / automate If you got time to fiddle with how to set it up? But the cost and undertaking of using that software would be more then just installing all the windows anyways lol. Network install from a server where you push images?

It's more about something like this...

You go with your laptop that has an integrated 2.5 gbps ethernet card into an office building and use a 3m cat6a patch cord from the desk to a wall socket .... but you have cat5e cable through the walls all the way to the server room.

The office / building managers may not want to upgrade and pull all the cat5e cable to install cat6 or cat6a ... so you're stuck with cat5e which is still decent enough for 2.5 gbps.

If the office needs bandwidth, upgrading the switch in the server room to one that "speakes" 2.5/5/10gbps could be a good temporary solution.

answering his question he is installing new not the situation of what other companies have installed currently.

"Please help me to understand all the new variants of Ethernet cables.   I want to make sure I buy the right cables for running in a ceiling and to provide the best speed for the upgraded internet."

Would be better to do cat6 but if he can push 5G through cat5e why not use that. that is more the situation the op is looking at. The information linked was from Cisco both times and both are still relative to what OP was looking for. Generally if your installing all new stuff and he knows what load he will be putting out he can make a better prediction using medium information not cat5 can push 100MB/s. As I said there are alot of parts to make it whole and just saying cat5e will push out 2.5-5GB is usually not the best answer but I could be wrong...

    @GodSeph

its a little out of data, Cat5E can do 2.5GB

Cat 6 can do ether 2.5 or 5gb.

I'll note for 50m runs cat 6 can do 10gb.

out of data? you mean out of date? The information is generalized as there are numerous ways to increase or decrease the speed including length of the cables and how strong the signal is etc.... its more a general information as I doubt everyone is trying to push 2.5 through a cat5e instead of changing the cables to something more robust.....

according to cisco there are 5e that can handle 5G...https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/solutions/collateral/enterprise-networks/catalyst-multigigabit-switching/nb-06-mgig-faq-cte-en.pdf

    image.png.58429465c1ab879b10d1fe78ac771dfc.png

That is crazy I couldnt imagine someone still using 5e if they are pumping that sort of data....

  6. When purchased do you meet up somewhere local? Just test it when you check it out to make sure it checks out. You can do a hardware test when booting the laptop. I try not to assume the worst in people but I also try to live by, if its too good to be true it most likely is lol. People can be awful and there are scammers out there.

  7. It is not a simple setup to do sub 0 phase change cooling. There is alot of setup for the motherboard and cpu socket. As you will be under the delta temperature you WILL get condensation around the cpu socket and on the motherboard. I have seen and setup a phase change cooling before (not for myself but for a friend). Here is a LTT video about a case that uses phase change cooling.

The same rules for motherboard setup are the same.

How it works is like how a fridge works. It chills the liquid that is then cooling the cpu.

  8. Why security in IT is BIG BUSINESS currently. I talk with people daily about how most "hackers" do nothing more than social engineering and trying to trick you into giving them the information/money. This is an everyone problem and has nothing to do with where you live or how much money you make. If there is money involved someone out there will try to take it from you with least amount of effort...Its really sad...

Is there any chance it's something to do with the pump in my cpu cooler?

depending on the noise. Is there a recording of the audio? can you isolate the area in you pc by opening the side panel and listening to where the noise is coming from?

  10. its either fans, hdd, or some weird coil whine. Try unplugging fans and turning pc on to see if the noise goes away (make sure you dont cook you parts). HDD you can test by unplugging it and seeing. Coilwhine is harder to test as its just electrical noise and there isnt really a fix for it.

  11. There is a new virus/cold/flu every other year. Most healthy people who practice any sort of good diet and are in good health should be fine. I remember swine flu scares. I got it was sick for a few days and went back to school when I got better. Sucked but I didnt die nor did I feel the need to go to the hospital, it felt like a bad flu. Do not worry about something that you cannot control. Wash hands and if your sick or someone you know is sick do not hang out with them or hold hands/cough on each other in close proximity lol.

I am assuming you mean worry like buying non perishable food and water for the coming darkness for the next 10 years. I doubt that would happen as we have multiple countries looking for ways to fight it and how to prevent it. As I said before encourage sick people to stay home. No point working and coughing on people it will onyl spread things more. This is one of the key issues with this in particular spreading in some countries. Some places are forcing people to work even sick and its spreading worse than if all the sick people just stayed home till they got better lol...

  12. I dont trust any phone companies let alone ones that have direct ties and legal obligation to give information to their countries government. You can be mad at Apple but they really didnt want people to hack into their phones (cant remember the reasoning some guy broke the law I assume). But I use Samsung note 10+ as I use Dex as my office desktop and remote into network desktops lol. I filled out 99% of my data for phones and websites incorrectly on purpose.

  13. Only you can answer that question. There is a risk in delidding and depending on the application and a bunch of other things you could see a temperature drop. But the temps you have are stable and unless you want to push it further 80C stressed is fine for longevity. You can do either or just know what benefits for both sides and the cons of both sides and decide which route you would prefer.

I was giving an example of situation where they could ask for such details. I don't live in Canada and have no idea whats the practice with expensive custom orders. So I gave example about where I thought they might acquire verification of persons identity. And I also know that in here you can make orders without paying first, like paying only after you received order.

I have ordered such things and I never had anyone want an email with my ID? there is usually a receipt number that has an address attached to it. Maybe when you pick up the package you need a photo id for pickup... Sounds strange but I guess I never ordered from Memory express so they could be different but still seems strange. What would they need an id picture for lol. Basic IT to be better safe than sorry.

I would agree price is not a problem as the consumer decides what it is worth to them. However I would say price is a problem with their repairs. Not specifically the cost of repair, but the lack of repair knowledge and/or intentional malice depending on who you talk to leading to entire motherboards being replaced when one little cable is not fully plugged in.

People go in with minor issues that can be fixed in a heartbeat and they are told the whole device is toast and needs a logic board that pretty much is the cost of getting a new device. Also they are often told their data cannot be saved when it can easily be saved if they actually tried to repair the device.

I would agree that their practice of repairs is not up to what it should be but mine was price of X product price only. If we go into every nook and cranny then we will be here all day. but their repair and "genius" bar is kinda silly lol. I used to work in a chain store that had something like this and it was less about fixing and more about selling services lol.

price is a MAJOR problem.  what is better about them?  You are essentially paying hundreds, for a different OS.

Then purchase something else? That is why there is competition in the computer space. If nobody purchased X product then they would either redesign it or change pricing as we saw with the trashcan Mac and a few other stepping stones from Apple. My argument is that its not Problem not that you can criticize the prices and such. There are most likely some that are prices incorrectly and they will either change the price or discontinue the product line.

  17. I would argue that price isn't a problem. They are allowed to charge what they want for their product. If people didnt care for the price they wouldn't purchase it. So I believe they have a good price for what they believe covers their cost plus ability to make a profit. If I made X products I can charge what I want, that doesnt mean anyone will purchase it... Price and cost of a product is relative to the consumer market they are shooting for. Do people go to Lamborghini and complain its too expensive? Or what about mansions? These products are meant for a specific client, that doesn't mean you can criticize the choice of price tag but I wouldn't classify it as a "Problem" with the product.

I'm wearing the Apple Watch as an ultimate flex and a statement on how bad Android wearables are.

I don't have an iPhone and it's not paired to anything. I just use it to tell the time and to get annoying reminders to "breathe" (do Apple users find these reminders offensive in the slightest?)

I have no relationship whatsoever with Apple and I paid full price for it.

I don't intend to review it. Just messing with y'all

TBH I find all smart watches more a statement piece than anything. The smartwatch idea itself is limited to a small device on your wrist. Its function to tell time and communicate with a phone is its strong point. Which itself is silly since you can almost easily look at your phone these days (10 years ago that would be very taboo in a workplace). Currently I use my Samsung smartwatch to check messages while in meetings all day to see if its worth picking up my phone lol.

Rarely do I see or hear people using smartwatches for more than "O I gotta answer this email" or tracking steps. Once they break that barrier they will become more common. Until that time Actual Watch people will not adapt smart watches for multiple reasons but as a "Flex" Im sure actual watches got ya beat.

  19. Sucks to have so many problems instead of enjoying the new computer. Have you tried running another OS like Ubuntu and run some tests to rule out Windows? Also try running HDTune to make sure that the HDD doesnt have any bad sectors that could be giving incorrect information. There is also Memtest86 USB where you boot into it to run some tests. It says it is a CPU but could it be the motherboard sending incorrect values and the motherboard is the culprit? They are usually the hardest to test as things plug into them. Is there another board or a Store that would allow you to test a different motherboard? It looks like you did everything including replacing the cpu and I doubt they send 2 DOA CPU's unless your REALLY unlucky. Keep us up to date on how its going.
