  1. This thread still alive? It'll be awhile before I can afford to do a custom loop, but I was watching Kyle's build-log for that ridiculous pink loop he's doing and he ran into a snag trying to get a block on a Zotac card. https://youtu.be/EdXycmVDwmY?t=10m30s Got me wondering if there are any custom-PCB cards out there that actually lend themselves well to watercooling, if one were willing to spend more to avoid the some of the silicon lottery unertainty.
  2. Somebody posted this as a response to Linus' "should I do it" post on Twitter today. Cause for concern, or just stuff that was there all along?
  3. Fair, dude I just want to see some discounted X99 boards. I've been waiting for something decent to drop down to the 150 range for ages.
  4. I haven't seen a thread specifically dedicated to the best of Prime Day and I thought it might be useful to have a single thread dedicated to deals that expire after July 15th. Doesn't even need to be Amazon, but let's limit it to deals we can't get after today. I tried really hard to find an awesome deal to kick this thread off with, but I'm having some difficulty finding enthusiast grade stuff in the ocean of crap. Sorry if someone has already started this thread, all I saw was the "official hype" one and a ton dedicated to individual deals. Here's some headphone links. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=pd_sim_23_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=1M27HBSAJ2HD5YG078H1 http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B0042A8CW2/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1436978956&sr=1-3&keywords=sennheiser+headphones Oh and please post links with affiliate code and whatever, because reasons.
  5. Yeah I definitely hear that, I mean I totally acknowledge this build makes no sense. Pretty sure I can't fit four HDDs in there with a tube-res, don't really know if the UV LEDs would even shine through the bay-res, even though that would be a really cool effect. The EVGA cards are the closest thing to a practical decision on here, applying a waterblock to a videocard seems like something I'd screw up and not realize until way too late. I did take care to match tubing size to compression fittings and all that. Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.
  6. All valid points, but I wasn't trying to showcase the perfect dream build, the entire point was I wasted my time. Blame PCP for the Klevv pricing. The videocards were placed in the proper category, PCP just throws them down in other if they can't link to their own site. I'd like to defend the H630 and K70 under the entirely rational arguments that I just like them, yeah they're completely out of place, but whatever I can't decide what I want when the price point climbs high enough in those categories. I like the dual wheel on the MX master and the whole switching bluetooth profiles thing. Forgetting to swap out the 5820K is pretty egregious though I have to admit, started from another build and didn't even think to change it once I got into the EK parts.
  7. All the 5820K complaints are completely valid, I started this build off another list (for a computer I'm actually planning to make,) I forgot to swap it out though in my rush to post. As for the H630, I just like the aesthetic, I know it's completely out of place, but I really like the design. The monitors are for different things, not meant to be used together at once. One for gaming one for color correction and multimedia, I'm not aware of a g-sync monitor with a 1ms response time that hits 99% of the Adobe RGB gamut.
  8. I think I have a serious pcpartspicker addiction, I just spent two hours making this list. I have no money to build this machine, I don't really have the time to be contemplating $8000 computers when I need to be finishing school and finding a new job, but I can't stop. 9. My Logitech G602's wireless receiver has been wonky lately, every now and then my cursor just jumps for no reason, which makes it really hard to snipe in TF2. Also lately my wrist has been cramping up whenever I use it for more than an hour continuously. I'd really like to switch back to a wired mouse with a nice low coefficient of friction that's designed for sustained intensive use.
  10. This is the stupid thing I would build if money were basically no object. Although at this point it almost seems dumb not to throw on Xeons and Titan Xs. 11. So I totally forgot my ex-roommate who just up and left without taking his stuff has a crappy old computer with a Radeon 5770 in it, I can just use that until I've saved up enough for a 980 ti. My long term goal for this thing is to do a custom water cooling loop with a 360mm radiator in the top, dual 980tis with water-blocks, but that's obviously way in the future.
  12. Alright, except for the graphics card I think this is a machine I can stand behind building. 13. GPU is just a placeholder, I really want to get a Strix 980 ti or something eventually, but for now this will let me plug into a monitor so I can get some work done and save up to actually purchase something worthy. I actually meant to swap out the 850 pro for an evo after I read your first comment, just forgot when I went back to revise the list. Swapping the drive out brings me down to $860 for my baseline, I might actually get to start building soon, okay now I'm excited.
  14. Alright, so this is the revised version, cost shaved off wherever possible.
