Just so you know, the gestures the iPhone X have started way back in 2009 with the Palm Pre that runs on webOS and later popularized by the Blackberry Z10. It means that Apple actually copies the Palm Pre and Blackberry.

I’m not entirely sure Palm and BlackBerry get credit for those features when those companies are effectively dead.

Sure they had that idea first, but if they aren’t actively doing anything with those, was it really their idea?

    Ehh, idk about that.

The people like to credit Palm line with a lot, even if they were the first to do it, I don’t think it’s fair to say that over a decade later someone else doing it is really copying them. Especially when the company that made Palm is not longer in the consumer electronics market/doesn’t exist anymore.

Ford invented the Model-T, so if the logic carries over to other industries that would mean that Elon Musk copied the idea of the Model-T By building Teslas.

No, it's more like saying that Tesla came up with the idea of an electric car even though electric cars existed in the early 20th century.

Apple may have been the first company to use gestures well (that's if the gestures were implemented poorly in the Palm), but they didn't come up with the idea of gestures.

So did Tesla copy them? I think once there is a reasonable time gap between the initial idea and someone implementing it at a later date is not considered copying.

I wouldn't call it copying, but it is absolutely not their idea.

Well I can agree with that

Every idea has been thought of, guys. Let's just agree to call them "interpretations" or "applications".
