AndreeVs's Achievements

  1. Surface pro 3 64gb. Using this for school and a larger screen than my phone. 300$ on craigslist, this is my best buy in the past two years. Perfect for taking and writing notes with Scrbl app, small enough to carry everywhere with ease, and actually very reliable for everyday tasks. Would recommend to anyone spending around $300.
  2. I'd personally go with an 850w power supply. Many people here will tell you not to cheap out on a PSU, which is true, you shouldn't. I've used in the past a bronze efficiency PSU for over a year and nothing went wrong. So if you'd like to stick with a bronze efficiency, I'd recommend it, but if you'd like to spend the extra on a gold efficiency, then you'd actually be working on future proofing your rig. I say go with a 10 series, preferably the 1080 if you can, and try and get 6gbs of vram or more.
  3. Well first consider that you're 12 years old. You're only beginning your adolescent days, and starting puberty. Over the years, your shoulders are going to broaden, giving you a more masculine look. Stand up straight, and stick out your chest. It will improve your posture, and make you look confident - people will notice, girls/boys will notice. Your metabolism could go in any way throughout your life, therefore, enjoy your fast metabolism, it might slow down drastically in the far future. Your height is all generic, I advise you to not worry about it. Right now you're young, so many of your peers aren't very mature, but later on in life, you'll start to see a lot of people that look pass those frivolous things. There's always going to be girls/boys that are shallow, don't let them get to you, look confident and show that it doesn't phase you. Make a statement that you're mature, you might even get them to reflect on their prejudice. For diets, refer to the food pyramid. The best thing you could do if you're worried about an unbalanced diet is to make a habit of not drinking sodas (high corn fructose), drink plenty of fluids (water, or non-sugary) throughout the day, and eat fruit every day to get the vitamins you need. Make sure you eat tons of protein and carbohydrates if you want to build up the fat that can turn to muscle. Having said that, due to your fast metabolism, if you plan to workout/exercise (which you should), you're going to need to do so after an hour or two after eating. Make sure you exercise daily. It can be light stuff or more active stuff, so long as its something then you're doing it right. If you're not very athletic or sports oriented, I recommend going into track or cross country. It'll keep you fit and lean. E.I., my friend has lost 95lbs in a course of 2 months, and all he did was run 3 miles in around 35 minutes every day. The last thing is skin care. Your body will only be and look as healthy as you treat it. Don't touch your face, your hands carry a lot of germs and oils, touching your face too much will lead to acne you could've avoided. The best thing you could do for your skin is to wear sunscreen - make a habit of it, use a cleanser whenever you was your face (CeraVe 10$), and don't take too many or too hot showers. Hot water can and will damage your skin (make it dry, sensitive, breakouts, or etc.), steam opens up your pores, and cold water closes your pores. You're already taking the right steps into a healthy life. Knowing is half the battle. Look into sub-reddits for more information on whatever subject you need. I recommend taking a look at r/fitness and r/skincareaddiction. Cheers.
  4. Owners or savvy people of 2560x1080 and 2560x1440, here's my question. What's better? To narrow it down. Is the ultrawide 1080 a better choice than a standard 1440? With similar price thresholds, does the ultrawide 1080 blow away the 1440? There rare a large variety of 29" 2560x1080 monitors in the market. Some are even cheaper than a 25" 1440p display. For around 100$ more you can get a 34" 2560x1080, whereas a 34" 1440 would be roughly $700+ USD. But is it worth it? To game on such a large display would take a butt load of horse power. It might look incredible, but does that mean a 34" 2560x1080 would be left behind a trail of dust? What is your take on this? Do you think that an ultrawide 1080 at 29" or 34" is the "sweetspot"? There is a lot to consider as well. 21:9. Majority of the 29"/34" 2560x1080 monitors come with free sync. Allowing it to reach a 75hz refresh rate as a standard. A 25" 1440p is considered a sweetspot, and looks amazing. But exactly how much more? What's your take on the better choice? The monitors I'm keeping an eye on are: LG 29UM68 29" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B9IDLAW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=13B8R0ULSOW9L&coliid=I1O7NZIIU5AULJ&psc=1 (On sale 200$) LG 34UM68-P 34" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMES072/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=13B8R0ULSOW9L&coliid=I1NV73MP7WYPIM&psc=1 (Big brother to the LG 29", I believe on sale around $420 USD?) 5. Main reason why I always keep my important files/videos/photos stored on OneDrive. Even though my data was cut in half, I still managed to squirm all my important files in it. It's a long process but it's worth it IMO. For school: I save all my files from word/excel/powerpoint into my OneDrive file. That way I always have the file on all my devices. Since, the way it saves the date is through Microsoft Upload Center you don't have to be connected to an internet source to save it. It works by saving it as cache onto the Upload Center and when you have a stable internet connection it will automatically upload it to OneDrive or OneNote whatever source you picked originally. This should save people's bacon.,
  6. Here's my contribution. If you drop your ssd and maybe a dog chewed on it. It'll probably still work the same as if none of that happened. tl;dr SSDs are sturdy
  7. New topic, new views. Hello guys, I'm procrastinating my studying cause I got bored. What do you think is something that MUST be known if you're building a computer, setting up a computer, or etc? Is there something nifty only you know and want to share so you look like the coolest guy in the forum? Impress us!
  8. Well I'm sort of a one poster? I definitely seen every video, probably, enough times to kinda say double the amount of their overall videos? I'm not sure. I've learned a great deal from Linus. I'm not the greatest follower though, I've never been in their twitch stream mainly cause I have my own time frame. I love forums but I never make time to become an efficient or known poster. I may not be the ideal fan, but I'm still a huge fan. I'm sure a good number of the new sign ups are pretty crazy about his videos. I think who ever wins deserves it.
  9. You should definitely knock on the door, window, bang on the wall to get their attention. If I was dumb enough to be in that situation I'd appreciate a neighbor going such lengths to get my attention. Obviously, try not to wreck anything. If it comes down to it, try opening the car door. I'm not sure that if you try enough times the alarm might go off? Just don't destroy their property lol.
  10. Personally, if it's not something urgent or something that I could have gotten by without yesterday, I'd just order it on Amazon. i haven't had the need to run to the store for anything major in months and even when it was somewhat major, I really could've gotten by waiting 2 more days. If I feel cooped up in my house, I'll always go to the store. Cause even if I already know exactly what I want and where to find it, I can still window shop and touch everything.
  11. Pretty simple cut and dry case. You obviously need your receipt, any documentation or proof that you were informed your laptop is missing would help you tremendously. You can argue to get your money worth - store credit or possibly replace with a higher quality due to this mishap. Ultimately. make your case strong, try to be nice. If you need to blow up from frustration take it up with the management or leader on duty.
  12. I've actually been upgrading my rig since I first built it 5 years ago. I been reselling the parts and buying new parts whenever I was able to get them at such a low cost. Like right now I just bought a 32gb kit Hyperx Fury 2666mhz from Officedepot at 100$. I went with a 5820k not only because I got a good deal on it, but also because Linus really impressed me with his built. But I can't afford a 5930x.
  13. Hello guys, lurker here. I just pulled the gun on a 5820k and an asus x99-pro. I did do some planning before hand. However, I did get these with a pretty hefty discount from friends that work at Frys electronics and I couldn't resist - I'm not crazy, I swear. Currently I'm running on an 4690k with a Corsair h100i GTX on an MSI G45 Gaming board and 16gbs of ram. I have a single 980 for Player 1, an mia 750 TI for Player 2, and an 650 TI for the unraid server. Since I'll be running on a 5820k I plan on splitting the cores 5/5/2 or 4/4/4, whichever you guys think is best. I have a single Intel 730 480gb SSD and single Seagate 2tb Barracuda. I plan on getting another 730 480gb, What Linus did for his HDD selection worries me a bit. I only have the one HDD I'd rather not use an HDD for the OS. I want my OS to be installed on my SSD. I don't mind the unraid server to go on the HDD but I still want my OS to load on my super fast SSD. Is there a way to work around that or am I limited only to an HDD, and if that's the case will I need two? with a minimum of 3tbs each? What do you guys think is the best solution for this or am I misunderstanding something from the whole set up? From the 2 Gamer, 1 CPU - Virtualized Build Log thread the guys there question Linus on the use of a $60~120 Lime tech software when there is a free copy of KVM. The thread there seemed pretty dead which is why I came to this side of town. I don't know how to get this free copy of KVM, and even if I do i'm worried it won't be the same routine as Linus showed. I'm hoping someone with experience will help me out As far as the actual build goes. For my ram selection, do you think it's a good one? That's basically what I'll be aiming to get. I was hoping for 3000mhz but for 32gbs it would hurt :(. Well that should be it for now. Can't really think of any questions or concerns. Please comment/reply/whateva I look forward to hearing from you guys!~
