DodgyChris got a reaction from CatastrophicDinosaur in Key Bindings For Left Handers
Hey guys, So a topic I could never find much information on....Key bindings for a lefty!
So, I am a left handed gamer, and I will not compromise, the mouse belongs in my left hand as should any left handed gamer (with the exception you are ambidextrous and competent enough to use your right) and my keyboard is used by my right hand. Now I see a lot of gamer;'s using the mouse in their left hand but using the WASD and Arrow Key layouts to play their games, why?
The advantages to using WASD and Arrow Key configurations are non existent. You cannot reach the space bar, control, alt, shift and so on properly. It is also very uncomfortable, especially the WASD config. Why put yourself at a disadvantage?
So...what can you do to up your gameplay experience? REBIND.
Key Bindings for Lefty's
Movement
Forward - P
Backward - :
Left - L
Right - '
Crouch - ,
Prone - .
Combat
Fire - RMB (Fire and Aim are reversed, this is a personal preference)
Aim - LMB
Lethal - J or Middle Mouse
Tactical - Any free key of your choice
Reload - I or Wheel Up
Fire Mode - U
Change Weapon - Wheel Down
Sprint/Hold Breath - Left Shift
Spot/Assist - Alt Gr
Equipment - # (any keys surrounding P L ; ')
Ability/Action Buttons - O [ 8 9 0 -
Global / Interactive
Interact / Use - K
Enter / Exit Vehicle - K
Scoreboard - =
Chat - Any free key of your choice, try to make it easy to reach
Note If you couldn't make out any of the keys, such as the small punctuation keys they are worded below:
Backward - Colon
Right - Apostrophe
Crouch - Comma
Prone - Full Stop
Battlefield 3 MAV Controls
Just one last thing, the controls for the MAV in BF3 seem unchangeable? Wrong. Download a program called BF3 Settings Editor by Realmware!
So guys, I hope that this is helpful, it is a pain in the ass to rebind all of your keys before you even get to start playing your games, but you will enjoy it so much more when you can play properly, being able to reach all of the keys as if you were using WASD as a right handed player.

DodgyChris got a reaction from mikeeginger in DodgyChris Phanteks Evolv ATX.
Hi guys, recently downsized to a Phanteks Evolv Atx from my beloved 800D. Just thought I would share some info and a mod that I carried out.
Firstly the case is great to work with, there could be more cable tie loops built into the back of the motherboard tray and I do feel that the basement being closed off doesnt benefit much in terms of trying to install pumps etc. Secondly I had an issue installing the res, the mount that came with the res was just way too big to install anywhere especially with a 60mm rad in the front.
Secondly I have modded the top to mount my 240 rad as whilst the included radiator mount is a nice easy to use feature it was covering up half of the components I wish to show off! So I ended up drilling 4 holes in the top to mount a 120fan, the spacing was too wide to bolt the entire radiator but having half was more than strong enough to hold it in place.
I resorted to cable tying the res to the back of the case which keeps it secure and looks just fine as opposed to using the huge clamp included from EK.
I also used the top fans as an intake, although it is not filtered the mesh is quite fine and should catch a reasonable amount of dust, besides, the top panel can be easily removed with 4 screws for cleaning.
Another part of the case I wish I could change would be the option to mount the front radiator closer to the front panel and allow me to easily have my fans in a pull config as I usually prefer it to pull or push pull. Saying that, the airflow is ok but due to the size of the case the temperatures are a little bit hotter than with my previous loop in the 800D (all components are the same apart from a GTX 980 upgraded from a 680) although temperatures are very similar between the two cards.
I wanted to keep the loop as tidy as possible which did remain quite difficult with little space to work with, my loop setup is now reversed starting with the GPU > CPU > Rad > Rad > Pump/Res Combo. The flow rate is good with the D5 set to 5 and noise is minimal although I have noticed that the temps are slightly lower when the pump is slowed down as sometimes a high flowrate can actually reduce cooling in some circumstances.
I like the SSD mount on the case although a power extension could have been included instead of having to drag the entire sata power through the bottom of the case, I have had to use two sata power cables as opposed to one as one cannot reach my HDD and the Fan Hub.
I was also disappointed to find out that the lower 3.5 caddy is not included with the case, it is cheap which is great but I would have paid the premium to have it included as I do like to use a mechanical drive for storage.

DodgyChris reacted to Helly in Key Bindings For Left Handers
left handed keyboard dont exist as far as i know. I always used wasd, cuz i was to lazy to change ALL the bindings... most of the time i use a key that already has another binding and when games start complaining about unused bindings (like no binding for team chat or w/e) i just revert back to default... dont want to be binding keys forever.. i want to play.
these days i use ijkl and rebind everything exactly the same as it is on wasd just around ijkl. so q and e become u and o, etc. just because i've been used to wasd.
for CTRL and ALT i use N and M cuz i can reach those easier :P.
i've also always used the mouse as a right handed in my left hand... so LMB is still the same. i do find it very annoying us lefty's are stuck with mice that go in both hands while right handed ppl can chose from lots and lots of right handed only mice which are often better. I'm using a steelseries sensei atm and it's ok but i would like it if there was a good mouse that was made for left handed ppl.

DodgyChris reacted to Charger in Key Bindings For Left Handers
I really wish i could use a mouse with my left hand as i think i would me more accurate in games that way seeing as i am left handed but i have been using computers since i was 4-5 in the early 90s right handed and have never seen any computer setup anywhere that is left handed. Did you know there are left handed keyboards out there where the numpad is on the left?

DodgyChris reacted to xToFxREAPER in Screen Tearing With V-sync off, But Input Lag With V-Sync on?
if you have a z77 platform or a z87 platform you can use virtu mvp with virtual vsync, no more screen tear no input lag and run at the highest possible frame rate :) also you can enable triple buffering via nvidia control panel to reduce input lag and use tradition vsync, myself ive never really noticed much of a problem with old school vsync so i usually leave it on, i should note that virtu mvp only works with a single gpu setup, sli and multi gpu cards cannot run with virtu

Wow that looks awesome :O sorry for asking but is it difficult to build a custom watercooled rig for the first time ? (I'm pretty expierenced with air cooling and pre-filled solutions like the H60)

DodgyChris reacted to MrPete1985 in How to stop BSOD at the Windows Logo when using a new motherboard.
If you still have the old MB then you can put the HD back on the old MB then run sysprep and generize the system, this will reset all the drivers and whatnot so you can install the hard drive in another motherboard.
