Actually, GPS is a very weak signal by the time it reaches the earth. In fact, the spectrum desity is even lower than the thermal noise floor. Without the compuational signal gain given by the spread spetrum signal, it's impossible to decode. With a very basic jamer of 1 watt you can easely build at home can wipe out any GPS signal within 1 kilometer. A few kilowatt on a strategic location should be enougth to do the job. On topic: It's insane they are allowed to disturb so many people, especially abroad. Just imagine the outcry when Mexico would do a similar thing close to the US border....

Unless your case is at least partially made out of heat sinks, you will need an external readiator. For more information, look here:

Samsung's new M3 Cores: Super Wide, True Apple Competitors at Last?
Stefan1024 replied to DocSwag's topic in Tech News
Haha, I like how the bars of the division and FP just fades out to hide how much more time they actually need. Also, let me know how large the performance gain is after patching for specter and meltdown.... -
[UPDATE] Man gets cyber crime charges for spamming twitch channels

So, Trump is finally getting shut down? Good! ... Oh, wait, looks like some people are more equal then others! So sad! (I know it's twitch and not twitter.) -
Is that a heat sink on the back?!? I'd love to see one

South Korean government preparing bill to ban crypto trading

You can start the engine and then start to remove the snow by hand. You are just not allowed to melt all the snow with the car. Also the fine if you don't is about 40 USD. -

Wasting energy can be illegal. For example it is illigal for us to start the car engine and wait 15 minutes nearby until all the snow melted. Also what things are illegal or legal changes a lot over time. -

Great, at least we have an option now to disable all updates. No more forced updates, that's like a delayed christmas gift! /s -
You make a backdoor and use a password with abc and 12345?!? I can't even...

First, have a look here, you will finde a lot of information: - The wires get hard and brittle over time, but as long as you don't upgrade the PC they stay intact perfectly. If you like to upgrade, you need to buy new cables. - I removed stuff from the oil and they need at least a month or two to drip dry. And fans will be destroid permanently (they work, but collect a lot of dust very fast). - I fined my build 14 month ago and it still runns good. I feel like some thermal paste have been disolved as it runs a bit hottet than initially, but it's not a big deal. When you use a HDD, make sure you used a helium filled one. My WD Red 8TB runns fine submerged in oil. And use a sealant that is oil proof. My one is oil resistant, but it leaks a tiny bit due to diffusion.

battery water for cooling?
Stefan1024 replied to SmilesRising's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
The final product is exactly the same, but destillating (evaporating) the water needs a lot of energy, so they use fancy filters to get the same effect. But then you can't call it destilled water, as it was never destilled. -
The FET can be replaced easely as well, they cost about 5$. I repeared a board that was worth 1000$ by replaising a single FET (sadly it was at work and mnot my own). They are usually "normaly open", meaning when you measure the resistance between all pinn you should have > 10k Ohm. They usually fail short and create a short circuit between drain and source (< 1 ohm). This makes it relatively easy to finde the faulty one.

FET = field effect transistor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-effect_transistor Basicly the switch that is used in a step down converter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_converter

Just a standard PCB ruler, nothing fancy. In fact there are much better once with componets assembled and running (e.g. LEDs).

Good luck on the repair and let me know if it works. In general, inductors are very robust componets and can handle huge but short overloads without damage. I assume the driver FET was unhappy / shorted out. Or the inductor was just undersised by design.

Just a new level of Nvidia greed. Also I recall the Geforce Titan X cards marked as deep learning card and pushed for this tasks. Training an NN ist just a normal compute workload and not so different from any other stuff. It's ok, if they cut the support for datacenters using consumer cards, but just let them do it. It's like saying, you can drive your car up to 150 km/h but you are not allowd to drive 106.2 km/h. Also I wonding if it's legaly allowed to limit the usage of an already slod item. Base line: even selling 1k$ cards is to low profigt for nvidia, they want al least 3k$.

Saying "Samsung" when they actually mean "Android" . Don't like Samsung phones and think all products from Samsung are bad (SSDs, monitors...) Gauging the performance of a laptop based on the OS installed. "My old laptop is still quite good, it has windows 10 and everything." In general, when product A and B don't work nicly together, allways blaim product B, because they like the product A. Don't read a single word of the manual and blame the product for beeing complicated.
