What they described here is vertical integration, if they go after Apple's vertical integration, they should go after everyones.

Well there is always a first person on the chopping block and its Apple. The DOJ doesnt have a good track record when it comes to enforcing anti trust cases as far as I can remember. So they are testing the waters with Apple. If successful they might go after the companies you have mentioned and more. OR this could just be a political stunt by the current administration to gain voters. Only time will tell.

I get that the US DOJ is meant to regulate the US market, but these are global companies we’re talking about.

Yes, but A) Apple is an American company. B) Countries have full power to enforce laws within their borders and people/ companies are required to follow such laws.

    1) People in the US: almost everybody uses Apple, blue bubbles are big deal, et

As a American I can tell you the color of the bubble means jack shit to me. I dont really distinguish between iMessage and Texting, both provide me with text responses. Granted iMessage might offer more features but I probably dont use any of those.

The big reason I think people in the US use Apple is because they like the product and features. I mean I can get a messages and calls on my Macbook. They have 5+ years worth of support on their devices. That being said, things are not all sunshine and rainbows in the Apple world. It all comes down to personal preference.

If you are a student or an faculty member in the education institution then you can get discount on Windows key through academic license.

To add on to this, way back in the day, too many years to count, when I was in community college. I got Windows XP Pro 32bit and 64 bit for $28.

s anyone aware of a modern router that has a coax input

What you probably have a a Docsis Gateway (modem/Router). There are tons of Docsis modems on the market. The issue is they need to be supported by your ISP.

As an alternative many of these combo boxes can be put in to bridge mode, if the ISP allows and basically it turns the router part off and just makes it in to a modem, then you can just buy a standard router, if all your looking to do is have a better router/WiFi setup.

I have a CM1000v2 as my modem and a Synology RT2600AC as my router.

Living out in the middle of nowhere is kind of annoying, because you have to cheap out because most services don't reach out that far. This applies to my internet, being the cheapest thing in the world.

We are locked into our internet of 12Mbps and a landline phone for just $86 USD (+tax). At best with just me using it (and the other devices we don't turn off) I'm getting about 16mbps down, 0.46mbps up. Steam at a max downloads at 1.9 - 2.1Mbps, and at worst i've gotten 0.7 down and no up. We still use the landline phone heavily, but we've also been thinking about switching off that plan to something else, both for internet and phone (because screw you CenturyLink), but we are still hardwired for CenturyLink with an awful router. Does anybody in America know a better plan for both internet and phones that's around $86?

You live in BFE so your options are limited. Satellite, Cellular and DSL are likely your only options. Outside moving to civilization.

It's through their app that it's customized, so without the app it's just on/off instead of choosing how much ANC, with the talk though/ambient aware working excellently. the N400 ANC is fine, nothing to write home about, with the biggest strength to me being the comfort and sound quality. They look big and heavy, but aren't particularly heavy and sit very nicely in my (apparently abnormally shaped) ears.

I do recommend turning down the 10k+ range, it was rather shrill out of the box.

Cool beans. Im thinking the A40's might be the way to go. At least they are a little lighter on the pocket book.

I took the "wings" out since they were indeed quite uncomfortable, and without them they were quite incredibly comfortable.

Note: replaced my pair that one went missing on, with some Soundcore A40 ones. Slightly less comfortable, but the ANC is WILDLY better than the N400 set. The A40s make a much better seal, and with no sound output are similar ANC quality to the N400s with medium volume and Max ANC. The sound isn't quite as good as the N400s, but still respectable.

Quick question about ANC. Does it work with all devices or is it device specific? Like I know it would work with my iPhone, but would it work with the steam deck?

    pair of AKG N400 earbuds

These look similar to my Aukey earbuds. My one concern would be comfort. Because the Aukey ones put pressure inside my ear canal and the "Hook" that suppose to help keep them in my ears also put pressure on the outside parts of my ear. Price wise I find them on Amazon for $79 to $81 new. Which is on the upper end of the budget.

Moondrop space travel every day of the week,

Whats the battery life look like?

  8. Looking for some suggestions of some ear buds or headphones. Plan on using these with my iPhone XR, Steam Deck, possibly a tablet (If I buy one). Need something that will work with both working out and with traveling. Which is why I was considering earbuds. Would like something with a mic. Wired or wireless would be fine. Currently have a pair of Aueky EP-T10 and not really happy with them. They dont stay in my ears well and the ear tip on the right side keeps falling off when they are inserted in my ear. Plus I find them uncomfortable after a little while.

I know I will need to buy an adapter for my phone, not a big deal they seem to be under $20 on Amazon. Im really would like to spend less that $50 USD if I can, willing to go up to $100 if its worth it. Also would be cool if it came with a case, if not, maybe suggest a case I can keep them in. Makes it easier when Im putting them in a pocket or in a bag.

don't get why car insurance shouldn't be billed annualy as well, unless that's already the case, don't own a car, so know nothing about it.

Here in Michigan they do 6 month policies. Generally the insurance company will give a discount if you pay in full.

With franchise you mean a total of two games?

There is multiple community mods worth playing. One of them is portal story mel.

Yeah justthe two game. The second game was more enjoyable. I liked the recordings from Cave Johnson. The first game was cool, but in my opinion it was more a proof on concept.

Oh absolutely. The certified Microsoft partner at least gives you a chance that it's totally legit. Having a +1 on your roll is better than no +1.

    *All risk is assumed*

Or you buy from Microsoft and know its legit.

I am looking for an OS key for my new gaming PC. I would prefer Windows 11, but I'm looking for an affordable key. Any recommendations?

"Affordable keys" are only from grey market sources. You can never know if its going to be a good key or not. The only legit place to get keys is from Microsoft or an authorized seller. But as stated above you can run Windows unactivated.

So basically you support dual monitors then.  Since dual UW's are still... duals. You're not using a single monitor at all.

    More monitors are better.

I like having stuff up when gaming, cant do that on a single monitor.

My primary display is starting to die. It works fine then randomly flickers, goes blank, etc. Before it dies completely I want to get a new monitor. I'm currently running a dual monitor setup, but I'm looking for some input from those who have used both ultrawide and dual monitors.

1:  Can you run an ultrawide like a dual monitor setup? For example: I've got Youtube, Floatplane, Netflix, or w/e else on the second screen while gaming on the main one. Can I split an ultrawide down the middle (or into thirds) so I can still do this?

2: Performance hit or bonus? I'm running a 4080 Super, but I live in California where electricity cost is insane. Has anyone noticed a difference in power draw and/or FPS for dual monitors vs Ultrawide while using it in situations like Question 1?

3: If you've gone from Dual Monitors to Ultrawide what has your personal experience been? Positives and negatives.

4: If you run an Ultrawide setup and have used multiple Ultrawide monitors what is something you've learned to watch out for? Any Surprises?

Thanks for anyone who reads and responds!

    1) I have dual ultrawides because FUCK IT. But generally when gaming the game takes up the whole screen. I dont know of any screens off hand that allow you to section a ultrawide. Unless you play in windowed mode. Use Power Toys to create sections.

2 )Well, I was told that my 34" 1440p ultrawide has about 20% less pixels than a 4K 16:9 panel. So you would be having to drive more pixels vs a 16:9 panel. Id imagine for your GPU that might not be an issue.

    3) With an ultrawide you can put 3 windows side by side easily. So if you like to multitask like that its nice. The only negatives is some times games dont play as nice. As in some times they dont support ultrawide and you will have black bars.

    4) The first ultrawide I got was a 1080p 25" panel. The second ultrawide I bought was 34" 1440p, personally I think 34" is good enough. I wouldnt go smaller and you could go bigger but you need a lot of desk space.

All 3 add ons for holding Cash are used independently of each other. So you can either install the Money clip, the Plastic Cash Strap or the Leather Cash Strap. Or if you decide that you don't want an add on to hold Cash, you can run your Ride Wallet bare without any attachments as well.

    cash_strap_1_800x_92400b01-c518-47d3-ae3d-9c4704bedaca_800x.webp.f0e4a391ddf6fd7feb51deb86243aa56.webp

This is what Im talking about when I say cash Strap plate. It connections on to the cash strap, at least from the Youtube Videos. They have the Leather Cash strap like you linked, but they also have this as a separate item. So this is optional?

Rather than VLAN I prefer to just make a group on my Firewall and bolt them from the Internet. Often easier. I prefer al ocal NVR, and then remote into my NVR. One point of egress.

If the camera requires internet access to function I don't quite see what the problem is. Most of the hacking is coming from being locally jacked - not a state actor jackng them through the internet.

The issue is, Im not buying cameras. These are camera's we found after clearing out my uncles place. I did look at one of them and it does take an SD card. But im not sure how long an SD card would last.

Simple fact IoT devices are known for lack of security and I dont trust them. Also with cameras that are cloud based that eats in to our limited internet data. Rather not waste that.

As for the money straps they have the standard one which you can get with every Ridge Wallet as a default which is just made out of plastic and now they also have two new fancy ones made from Leather: https://ridge.com/products/leather-cash-strap?variant=40381217996874

Do I require the Cash Strap Plate? or is that an optional thing? Because the leather cash strap will probably work. Im just trying not to gouge the screen of my phone as I dont have a screen protector on it.
