Bumpynoggin got a reaction from Luke S. in Release Date for Asus Maximus VI Formula
Yeah manufacturers do that with some products I guess but you are pretty safe to buy it straight away when it comes out. A later revision (if they make one) might make some changes but they most likely be very minor. You still get a warranty so if there is a fatal flaw with it they will look after you.
I ended up buying the Hero, couldn't wait for the formula.

I heard somewhere it's going to be available mid July... I'm really torn though because I want the formula but have already been waiting for 8 weeks and am tempted to get the Hero. I just need to be patient....

Bumpynoggin reacted to NamelessTed in Asus GTX 770 Poseidon
I think the biggest problem is the direction of the tubing. The connectors come straight out of the card. If you see the rig that was put together, the tubing is seriously long and sticks out pretty far. You would either need a really wide case with plenty of clearance or you might end up having to bend the tubing a bit. There is a reason water blocks have the tubing connectors parallel to the side panel and not perpendicular to it.

Bumpynoggin reacted to Kayn in Quiet CPU cooling.
The black fans from noctua are industrial fans that are made for performance and industries that could not care less about quiet fans

Bumpynoggin reacted to taz0001000 in 800D/GTX780
As im sure you have heard the 800D isnt the best as far as air flow goes but if you have a decent cooler there shouldnt be anything to worry about. I normaly idle in the thirtys and under 100% load it stableizes in the mid seventies.

Bumpynoggin reacted to tabuburn in GTX 780 - ACX Temps vs Reference Temps
Of course you won't get anymore performance from the reference models even with a custom BIOS. There are not enough power phases to provide any more power. The Classified has more power phases, 14+3 to be exact, compared to the reference model, which only has 6+2. That's more than double, meaning it can deliver more power to the GPU but with an increased TDP. This is similar to the hard mods overclockers did which basically just added more power phases the GPU can use. -
Bumpynoggin reacted to Athenos in GTX 780 - ACX Temps vs Reference Temps
I have the EVGA 780 SC /w ACX and i never go over 58 degrees (Celsius), though I haven't overclocked it over the factory overclock yet. Fan speeds seem to remain under 50%, so it its fairly quiet as well. Thinking of adding a 140mm fan underneath the GPU to if I can shave off a degree or two.

Sweet build. It looks busy but clean. Very nice.
