Yeah, that didn't last long... So could my PSU be weak and getting interference from let's say a refrigerator that is on another phase of the circuit? My case does have a transparent side panel, not the whole side panel tho, it's a Cooler Master K350.
  2. Update: So on January 5th in the morning I updated windows 10 from v2004 to v20H2 (I don't think that was the problem). I also was going to swap the PSU with an old 300W, without the GPU connected, to make sure it was my PSU's fault, but the CPU connector was only 4-pin instead of 8-pin... So I just removed my PSU from the case and cleaned the dust. After that I did not get any shutdown on the 5th, 6th and 7th. So I think that was the problem, I will get back if it happens again. Thanks
  3. The PSU is almost 6 and a half years old as well, it was bought with the rest of the initial components. It could definitely be the problem, the only thing that is bothering me is the fact that is always at around the same time of the day that this happens... Before and after that time, it works flawlessly. I might get another PSU just to try tho. Thank you
  4. So I have a PC for almost 6 and a half years now, that since mid December started to shut down randomly, followed by a reboot. It happened in the middle of the month, then in 4 days at the end of the month (27, 28, 29 and 31), and then at january 1st, 2nd, 3rd... It's doing it everyday at this point. It does shut down randomly but seems to be only around 5pm-8pm, I don't know if that's a coincidence or not. At that time, the pc has already been running for some hours, just like in the other days. When it does shutdown, sometimes it is not able to boot back up right away. Sometimes it takes longer to POST, sometimes doesn't even POST. If it does POST, normally it just shuts back down some seconds after windows booted or even during boot, and keeps that boot loop. I need to keep the pc off for some minutes for it to be able to boot again. On the january 1st and 3rd it actually did boot successfully right after like nothing happened. However, if I boot into the bios, the pc does not shutdown and just stays there. I was not doing any heavy tasks when the sudden shutdowns occurred, on the 28th the PC was actually just idling for some time when I heard it shutdown. The PC does turn back on automatically, even after I disabled the "Power On after power loss" option in bios. This problem started to happen some days after I installed more RAM, from 8gb (2x4gb) to 16gb (4x4gb), but I have tried running the PC without the new RAM and it still happens, so I think it was just a coincidence. I also did run memtest after that and concluded that one of my old sticks is faulty (recent problem, I remember running memtest before), but since then I remove it (running with 12gb of ram) and the problem persists. I also installed a SSD 2 years ago, so that's another upgrade that was done. I have tried: - full scan for malware - checked event viewer but nothing weird seems to happen before - checked windows for errors with SFC and DISM - went back to my two old sticks of ram (2x4gb) - removed CPU overclock - booted without the hdd and the DVD drive (still booting from SSD since it did not happen in BIOS) - reseated RAM - reseated the psu cables - booted directly on the motherboard without the power button connected - removed gpu and booted using the integrated graphics - removed the CMOS battery to reset the bios - went back to an older GPU driver, since I've updated the drivers recently In every case the problem persisted. There are no weird noises that I can hear, temperatures are ok for everything (cpu, gpu and motherboard idling at around the 30s, 20s for the ssd and hdd). Under load, cpu and gpu get to around 50/60. Can't see any blown capacitors on the motherboard either. Voltages also seem to be ok, +12V is always between 11,93V and 12,25V, that's the minimum and maximum I've seen. I can't replicate the problem so it's really hard to test stuff. I still want to try booting from another disk with a fresh install and try a different power supply, but I need to do it when it starts boot looping again... I did boot from a USB stick I have here with the w10 installation and it did not shutdown there (when it was boot looping going to windows). Could it be the motherboard? CPU? I've seen on some threads talking about the CMOS battery, could it be that as well? The system doesn't seem to forget the date and time with the power disconnected for some time, so it doesn't seem to be that low. However I have removed it to also reset the bios. It seems like an hardware problem, since it shuts down suddenly. The fact that it is only if I start windows makes me think there's some problem with the SSD maybe. Is the SSD bad? 5. Check the temperatures on that while gaming. Run some anti malware program just in case something slipped in.
  6. It's probably more stable now, 3 months have passed. Still on 1903, but thinking about updating soon since end of service is approaching (December 2020)
  7. The option to do that without those commands is now on the new layout! There are Online, Away, Invisible and Offline status now. On the friends' settings menu (friend->cogwheel top right) there's an option called "Sign in to friends when steam client starts". If you turn it off, steam always starts offline, like I said before that was present on the old steam version.
  8. Interesting... Mine starts offline or invisible if I shut down steam with offline or invisible status, respectively. Yeah, "invisible" seems different from "offline" selected from the taskbar, since my status changes as well (from invisible to "online x seconds ago"). The option I was talking about was present in the old versions of the steam client (before this one) that basically let you choose between login in steam with online status or offline status and I had that set to offline since a long time ago. They removed it.
  9. It seems to save your last status when you log back in. I had the option to login with friends offline, so I like that, but it seems that I need to log off invisible and that's really boring. Also I need to turn off all notifications if I want the older offline mode... Favorites and the extended information and options are great, but I don't know why did they remove the offline mode and "auto offline login". It's possible to get the old status names through right clicking the steam client, at least in my language (if you have that enabled under setting->interface->taskbar preferences), but the offline status was really replaced by the "invisible" thing, so yeah that doesn't do much. You can get "busy" status that way tho still, but that's not really useful. Also also, nicknames overwrite real names by default (?). It's possible to change that in the settings tho. But it really seems that offline status is gone, which is bad.
  10. You have the "Ultrapowa Clash Server" that is still under development but seems to be what you are looking for. However, I don't know how this tool works...
  11. You can download BlueStacks. It basically emulates an Android Tablet into your pc.
  12. The i5 5200U (2.20GHz) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M is better for gaming. You don't need and i7, an i5 is fine for gaming. You save some money and even get a better graphics card (940>840)
  13. I think you can still connect it but the graphics card will run if it was a PCI-E 2.0 16x. You will get less performance that way so you should get a PCI-E 3.0 motherboard.
  14. Try the following: - Change the brightness, contrast, gamma and picture advanced mode on the monitor menu to whatever seems better for you: - On your graphics card driver, increase the "Digital Vibrance" or "Saturation" option (i had this option at default and after increasing it ~25% the colors look more vibrant on my BenQ GL2450H) Hope this helps
