  5. AMD will have processors on AM4 plataform in 2016 With DDR4 memory support. According to a new rumor from Planet3DNow, AMD is going to release its next-gen AM4 platform in March 2016. The rumor does sound quite surprising as the AM4 platform was previously expected to launch sometime in the last quarter of 2016. As revealed by the company earlier, the AM4 platform will support both desktop CPUs as well as APUs. The new CPU lineup (FX line codenamed “Summit Ridge”) for the next-gen platform will be based on the Zen core, while the 7th generation APU lineup (codenamed Bristol Ridge) will be based on the current Carrizo core. While no specific details are available yet, the AMD AM4 platform is expected to bring support for DDR4 memory and feature a completely new board design as AMD is rumored to stay with AM4 longer than previous platform boards.
