  1. Hi there, did some of you see the latest Video from german overclocker (der)8auer on youtube where he tests 13 Ryzen 7600 to see how much they deviate in performance and power consumption and so on? It's actually pretty astonishing, espcially when you compare cpus, and i thought that this is exactly the kind of thing i wished that LTT would also do on a larger scale. I really would like to know if those deviations are found in all price ranges, how they change from generation to generation and obviously also wether amd or intel do a better job at this. Do you guys/gals think that this would be a video you'd like to watch? Does LTT have something like this already planned ? Are there already other reviews where someone did this at a larger scale?
  2. Can't get this song out of my head and really needed to share this with my fellow hardware geeks : Why aren't there more good Songs about Hardware ? Or are there ? Post them now !
  3. Whats the renderer that you are using ? Almost all modern renderers that are worth their money use gpu instead of cpu. Also 16 Gb Ram are really not enough if you want to do serious content creation, and i'd strongly recommend that you go for at least 24gb of ram. Take that from someone who works as a technical artist in the 3D and Gaming Industry. Now if you look at gaming, the role of the cpu becomes even less important and you could just as well get an old sandy bridge i7 2500 from 8 years ago, overclock it and have almost no tangible performance difference compared to a 7700k. And with an RX 560 you could just as well go for a pentium g series and your fps wouldnt change much, because your absolutely gpu bound. So bottomline: Get a solid Graphics Card first ! Like an 1060 or 1070, then check that you have enough ram in your build and then buy a processor with the best bang for the buck in regards to content creation (Which most likely will be a ryzen processor with the highest core count you can afford). Games are almost always gpu bound, so spending a lot of money on cpu only makes sense if you already got an 1080ti in your build and want to get the most performance out of this graphic card. And even then it only takes a relatively small amount of time for new games to get released, and your gpu bound again. Also dont be a fanboy ! Always go for best bang for the buck, because thats all that counts.
  4. You should have added that disabling the hibernate sleep mode, can also free up a lot of memory on your ssd bootdrive if you need it. In my case it was about 40gigabyte (depends on amount of ram) and it's absolutely not necessary, you can still use the normal sleep mode, and i havent noticed any drawbacks since disabling it.
  5. You should also check your viewport preferences ! There's an option for how much resolution textures can have in the viewport, i think the default value is 512x512 . So even if you load a texture map with more resolution it will still look low res in the viewport. But if it looks bad even after rendering there might be something else thats wrong. You could post your textures and models here, that would help us to help you
  6. I would love how to see how that intel 8 core compares to my oced FX 8350 (gettho-low-budget-workstation) . I use a lot of different Software which is very capable of using every bit of your hardware ressources, like agisoft photoscan, 3ds max, worldmachine, zbrush etc. and i would love to benchmark amd vs. intel for game development purposes. If i win thins baby i will share my results of the ultimate price vs. performance showdown here on the forum. Come on Linus ! I've been a good boy all year long and really deserve a treat like this Anyways merry Christmas to everyone
