  1. i own the r4, and so i can vouch for it and say its a very nice case. like others, i dont like the nzxt cases due to the design, though it'll be a newer case and may have newer features.. if you like the phantom, and it gets good reviews, i'd go for that, just because its newer. otherwise, the r4, minimalistic and silent case.
  2. i tried attaching the hdmi cable to it, the problem went but the screen is still really bad quality. kinda just given up on it.. went back to my old monitor.
  3. Hi guys, this thread is going to be about a monitor problem. So basically, I run two screens, main one is on the right and secondary on the left. I recently upgraded from a 19" to a 22" monitor (rated at HD, so i assume is 1080p - done some research and it also suggests this.). I've connected it through VGA (D-sub and rgb are also other notations i've seen this cable been given), and it has come up with the following issue. I've orederd a DVI cable for my main monitor, so that I can move across my hdmi to my secondary monitor(the monitor with this issue), this might fix it. it affects the whole bottom of the screen, if i adjust the resolution (i.e to one, and then return it back to the current one) it will sometimes not be there. I have no clue what causes this. resolution its currently running at: 1360x1024
  4. this is exactly what i wanted in terms of explanation. thank you very much, you have explained and taught me new things in a very logical manner!
  5. so 3770k beats 4770k in everyway? thanks for the quick reply
  6. lol, probably should've said that my budget is limited.. dont want to be saving up for half year for a piece of silicon afterall..
  7. 3820, 3770k, 4770k. go... no just kidding.. I'm currently talking with a friend, and whilst i may know enough to debate, i dont know everything.. unlike linus.. the god of god's.. sorry, i was daydreaming.. ;) so basically, i said i wanted an i7 and after much argument he finally pointed at these three processors. so dont ask why i want an i7 lol :P! so the 3820 is an old socket, 3770k had thermal paste issues, and 4770k is pretty much a replica of the 3770k. could someone please post saying the pros and cons of each processor and then the overall verdict. i'm the kinda guy who wants bragging rights, so the latest gen appeals to me most, even though it doesnt offer the best (as far as i've been told >_>) edit: the choice is these processors, dont want to be selling my body to buy my cpu...
  8. we're only moving forward.. i can only hope, along with the rest of you guys, that AI becomes more epic and more better. and yes more better does make sense, it was in a LTT video once.
  9. I understand the whole ssd decision, but i'd also suggest running a few harddrives in a raid config. this is because more storage for more data (no doubt you'll shift through loads with what you have planned), but also you dont want to lose any work you've done. hope this helps
  10. glad about this! really want competition for intel so that new processors are better and not just sub-par. woop woop! go amd
  11. quite right yeah. it'd most likely have the same results if not a +/-5% difference. all in all, nothing to bust a nut figuring out how much different they are..
  12. I tried searching.. couldn't find much.. The r4 is meant to look plain.. but i shant reiterate what the rest have said so: - try self-moding.. brings exclusivity and personality to the build - try and ask for replacement front panels from your seller, that way you can mess around with a few (make sure to say that yours is broken) - spray paints, additional tapes etc. anything 3d is beyond me, and in that case i'd ask a professional.. though expect it to cost alot of £ hope this helps
  13. honestly, heard that EVGA were pretty damn good with customer service. however, in linus' video, he showed that the gigabyte was a better cooler (not sure on the noise difference) despite temps, i'd probably still go with an evga.. especially as its more minimalistic and would fit my define r4 better :p
  14. seems like the thermal take cooler i have is the only ugly one.. what is this.. well its not ugly, just not as good looking.. http://techreport.com/r.x/2012_2_23_Release_roundup_Highend_gear_and_a_neat_SATA_dock/spire.jpg
  15. Basically, a way to get around this, is if you have a 500gb hard drive, and it has 300gb of use, and you're only installing a 120gb ssd, just move 180gb+ from the harddrive to another harddrive, then clone the original harddrive to the ssd. before you do this, make sure you backup the drive.. you dont want to lose any data!
  16. some of those things look way toooo good to be true.. besides, as depressing as it sounds, I never get my hopes up.. so as good as they all sound, EA would have to change some real base code etc.. that'd be hard as they'd have to change everything else etc.. either way, even modern PCs struggle for FPS in large cities, so even more extended cities would cause PCs to die..
  17. 5450, I have that for my media rig.. does quite well and is "low-profile), which is what I think you're indicating ;)
  18. Yeah, despite simcity having its downfalls (yes im a regretting buyer!), EA sure did a massively good job on cracking it... now if only they gave in and allowed offline mode? ~EA FIST BUMP??~
  19. despire my signature saying it, I haven't even got my FD yet, but I'd still recommend it.. just remember, that if these cases do EVERYTHING you want them too, then it's literally down to aesthetics.. and seeing as you'll be the only one around it all day, then you should be the on to chose, not LTT.. good luck :)
  20. long lasting drive i'd say the blue.. because with all this photography work, you're not going to be shuffling around a SHED load of data.. But then again, that's because I trust WD more then I trust Seagate.. If you're conscious about the environment (though I can't imagine a huge difference between the blue and the green), I'd go with the green. I have a blue in my rig and it hasn't let me down yet :) 14 months and counting!
  21. didn't know this forum had grammar nazis.. sorry sir, sorry for my spirit and the spirit of my creativity...
  22. i wouldnt say its horrible :p just not the bestest!
  23. really good story, and yes i have fell for this trap :(
  24. well i intend to have a win8 pc for when i build my new rig.. saying that though, it'll be a superior pc to what i have currently, so whether its just a new pc or the OS, i wouldnt be able to tell what would cause the increased speeds :P
  25. haha! thats one way to solve it ;) and that's my plan for when people decide what intel is now the best (due to the introduction of haswell)
