Okay, so I got it working, but I still can't figure out why I don't get the prompt to play again sometimes. And when the word is complete( if the word is "you" and all chars 'y', 'o', and 'y' are entered it doesn't tell you you won. I don't know how to fix this, perhaps because I got 5 or less hours of sleep for the past week..

I don't think so. The first scan is for a file reader and the second is for user input from the console (I can't do gui's) and the instance variable scan isn't static so it shouldn't show up in the main method as usable unless I use an implicit parameter.

Hey Linus, The first cpu I ever used was probably somewhere in the first Pentium range right now I'm using an fx-6300 and oh man if I won I would have the best bragging rights of all my friends. I don't exactly have enough money for anything more than a gtx 650 and 6300, so I would really enjoy winning. Thanks for doing this.

I would make it a quad-core and try to get a better graphics card. I spent a little less than double what you did and I still regret not getting a better graphics card.

I would also go with the 650 ti or an amd card over the 650. You want to make sure you can use sli or crossfire in the future. I have a 650 right now and I wish I had gotten a card with sli compatibility.

I'm looking for a 140 or 120mm closed loop cpu cooler for the am3+ socket. The reason I want a 140/120 is because I have the cm storm scout 1 case so, I do not have support for a 120mm rad... This was stupid on my part and I should have gotten a c70.. When I upgrade my mobo and cpu in a few generations I'll probably get a new case. However I still want to be able to cool my cpu enough to overclock it to 5GHz. I'm at 4.5 right now with the stock cooler so, it shouldn't be very hard to do. Also, value is very important to me. I don't necessarily need a super performance h80i or something like that I just want one that will preform better then an air cooler. Or I want a value air cooler. I do not know what is best to get so I put it in water cooling. If an admin thinks it belongs somewhere else feel free to move it.
