    sadly you cant have a thread about Nvidia without it being hijacked ... you would have thought his statement was crystal clear, but the chance to insult is too compelling for some.

    I personally have never used one, nor do anyone of the builders around me use them. If you dont wear one, just keep touching anything metal to discharge any static. If you take the care you should be taking then you wont have any trouble .... just avoid wooly socks and doing jigs on a deep pile carpet

    I bought a 960 (EVGA SSC) about 6 months ago, the price was awesome and I haven't been disappointed. I dont play many games at the moment, (FIFA 16, F1 2015 and Skyrim) and it handles all those at max graphics apart from the F1 game. For the dollar, it has been a very good buy (the AMD similar cards were rarer than hen's teeth at the time and were $60 more expensive. Its a midrange card that punches pretty well ..... but you will be in for an avalanche of abuse from other people here if you mention its name (but you can pretty sure they havent used one .....)

    wow, bit a derail here from the original topic. I am wondering why every conversation with regards graphics cards always ends up with a bun fight between the two teams.

    can I ask, why do you need to have so much RAM? 16 gb should be good for pretty much everything but rendering shouldnt it?

    my favourite beer when I was growing up back home was Tetleys .... best beer ever when it was brewed in Leeds, Yorkshire. We always referred to it as Tetts or Tetters .... hence my name. I have used it since playing SWG all those years ago. PS Its crap beer now, they got taken over, moved brewery and not its garbage ... but I dream back on many happy a pint!

    its been on and off for me. The current version actually works, the previous few I would have to download updated drivers directly from the website, they would hang permanently when looking for new drivers. Do the current update manually, that's what got things working for me again

    OK, let me give my opinions point by point. 1) Firstly, you have been given some great gaming platforms like the XboxOne. Just because you have that now doesn't mean that your 1000 pound computer is going to be wasted. If you have spent a grand on it, it must be reasonably good already. 2) If you dont use the watch at all, explain to your mother that trading it for an SSD makes a lot of sense given the daily value of the SSD over something that isn't used at all. I wouldn't refer to it as crappy to her as that's only going to be hurtful to her (I am taking it here that she bought it for you) 3) I am wondering why you want three monitors ... is it vital to your PC and gaming existence? Why not be happy with one? I would love a multi monitor setup but I simply cant justify it after loosing my job. I would suggest you look at what is actually justifiable to you, and not what you simply want for wanting's sake. Your statement "I want three monitors for Christmas" really doesn't paint you in a good light, it does make you sound spoiled. I would go back to discussing things over with your mother in a reasonable way and explain point by point WHY you want something, and justifying that want as a need. Just remember, for a 14 year old, you already have a ton of stuff .... way more than most.

    I was on the fence about buying this game, but I gather playing community is pretty rough. I hope you do find someone who can help you find your feet in the game, because it looks awesome.

    I think you can see a theme building here OP, you seem to have a lot of awesome stuff, more than most I think, and you are wanting more. I would relook at everything you have and make the most of it, enjoy and wait until you can earn your own money to build something new. Your Mum has bought you alot of very nice gear .... be grateful

    any luck from Windows 7? the Microsoft site lists this error as a driver issue. Make sure you dont have any antivirus or tuning software running
