  1. Straight up ease of use. Gaming == no care at all about losing data.
  2. As impulsive as I can be I've now come to find myself with 3 m.2 SSD's - one 960 EVO and two 850 EVO's (all 500GB). My board can only support 2 m.2 slots. I'd like to RAID0 the 850's (as it's just for gaming anyways). I'm having trouble searching for a good reliable add-in card for this. Any suggestions please?
  3. When you build a new system do you automatically buy aftermarket fans? What for? (case cooling or CPU cooling?) Which fans are your "go-to" ones and why?
  4. If you've ever wanted any kind of insight into what it means to have a mental disease then watch A Beautiful Mind. I'm going to spoil the ending here so watch and come back if you want...
  5. This is, in part, my question. If you take something like a 2600K which has a base of 3.8 and OC it to 4.5. I'm wondering how much of an improvement on load times would you see. Here we are talking about roughly a 20% improvement on clock speeds alone. So when we throw in 3930 , 4790 ...etc and the increases in instructions per clock they have I wonder the impact. I think LTT did a video a couple years ago that even RAMDisk had almost 0 impact as well on load times.
  6. Does anyone have any recent sources which would illustrate the impact of different SSDs vs the impact if different CPUs on game load times? I recently saw a video showing a 960pro (m.2) having almost no impact over a standard SATA6 SSD. Would love to see the impact of a few recent CPU's and maybe even OC'ed vs Stock speeds....
  7. Hello, Next year might be the school year where my child begins to come home by themselves. As such I'm beginning to look into electronic door locks and cameras. There doesn't seem to be much in the ways of reviews on the internet so I thought I would check here to see if anyone has first hand experience with these products. Any information to get me started would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. The speed difference between spinning rust and an SSD is well worth the small premium in price. Time is money and SSDs save so much time
  9. Ok, after a LOT of pain and suffering I have no idea what was wrong. The situation resolved itself when I did the following: Turned the PC off with the TV still on. Normally I ensure my U3011 is set to primary and turn the TV off first to ensure my the layout of me desktop icons don't get messed up. So there you have it. No idea why but that was it!
  10. Any thoughts? I'm unsure if it's the TV although maybe an issue with the HDMI2.0 port? TV works fine in all other ways. Is there a way to test anything?
  11. Are you watching Twitch on chrome? as a pop-out it has a major impact. Unsure off the top of my head of the impact while in a chrome tab
  12. Yes, that's the one I used and my issues seem to have been resolved.
  13. You have an out of date driver - I can't remember the name of the tool (Slim Drivers maybe) but five me a couple hours and I'll get back to you with the name - it scans your drivers and let's you know which ones to update
  14. I have a 4K TV as part of my computer set up and this morning I booted up and the wallpaper was both askew of center and distinctly green. It is part of a multi-monitor setup where the other 2 monitors are Dell 3011 attached by DisplayPort and DVI. 4K is connected via HDMI2.0 port If I select any resolution + refresh rate which exceeds HDMI1.0 bandwidth, this is what it looks like Not only is it green but even the destktop wallpaper is skewed to one side. Looking at the taskbar icons they look a bit distorted too. However if I drop it back down it looks normal. I have been running this TV at 4096x2160 @60Hz since I got my 980Ti about 3 weeks ago without any issues. Is this a cable problem? No configuration changed (that I know of) between yesterday (working ok) and today.
  15. I've just received confirmation from Acer that we are looking at an October time frame. " late September" is what they specifically said so that will translate into Oct if they ship good quality panels. If they ship in sept I would be wary of the first batch.
  16. I think you should try to get a hold of an OMNI for a review
  17. swallowing my pride to ask this but how do I use a NAS. I have 3 mismatched HDDs in my PC that always cause me issue when I fresh install my OS, so I thought if I got a NAS I wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. However I don't have a clue how to use a NAS.... Does something like this require an OS to be installed - http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX54199 How does it appear on the network? Does it matter that my 3 drives are all completely different? (1TB, 2TB and 3TB drives) Is this something that just stays on 24/7? Is it pretty quiet? Thanks!
  18. Looking for a new mouse and always open to trying new things!
  19. Hey guys, I'm looking for your opinions on the best wireless keyboards and mice as far as responsiveness/connectivity are concerned. Keyboard: Currently I have a Logitech K800 and while it's a decent keyboard the input lag is incredible. Very noticeable even as I'm sitting here typing this. Defintely a great keyboard just for mutlimedia use but almost completely useless for any kind of gaming. Mouse: I am using a R.A.T. 9 and it's very good - however I have no idea what surface or mouse mat I should be using with this thing. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's bad enough to make me wonder if the battery is dead/dying. The other consideration is how it fits my hand. I use the RAT7 at my desk and I love it even though the quality is not as high as you should expect. I have large hands and LOVE the pinky flare on the side of the mouse. Although this is for "couch" gaming I will be about 5' away from the screen and 4' from the PC. Why am I not using wired? Cable and peripheral management - where to be able to put stuff away, easy of use, getting everything out and set up. I dunno, by the end of this I might get a hospital bed table and a second set of wired gear (because the desk gear has the wires routed behind the desk and zip-tied off. Let me know if you couch game what the set up looks like and what you're using. Cheers
  20. Now that Nvidia has wet my appetite, when will the 980Ti be coming, and it's competitor the R9 390x ? I've been waiting on these cards for months now. I hope I am not dissapointed with their ability to drive 4K gaming
  21. I don't like saying "no" because it sounds so negative, but I think there is better more interesting stuff out there for you to be reviewing. let's all be honest here this is what we want to see you review:
  22. Which games were you playing with the G25? I've tried to get into some racing games with my G27 but to be honest it was a cluster fuck in trying to get the games to recognize it. It was to the point there out of 8 games I had installed only 1 would recognize the G27 in a manner that allowed me to actually use it. (other games received input from the G27 but not in a controllable way)
  23. My understanding is that the DC P3700 is native PCIe. I wonder if you could create a RAID between two of these cards...?
  24. There are different types of RAID RAID can be used to increase speed (how quickly you read and write to/from your storage) and RAID can also be used to clone your data (some people say "back up" your data but that's a bit of a misnomer) RAID0 (raid zero) is when you take 2 or more drives (of equal value) and set it up so the computer views this group of drives as only one single drive. Because 2 drives have 2 connections (SATA) to the motherboard, the interface is that much faster than just one drive with only one connection. The way the computer does this is called striping. Envision a line of data which crosses one drive onto the next without interruption. This is striping. Here's the wiki on RAID http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID
