  1. Alright so for background, for LTX my girlfriend wanted to go with me but she doesn't want her own gaming computer because she lives in a dorm and is lame. So i decided that I would sell my mini itx gaming machine and build a micro atx virtualized gaming machine instead. So what I'm rocking right now is a Threadripper 1900x on an Asrock X399m Taichi motherboard with 4 dimms totaling 32 Gb of ram. Where I've been running into problems is with my graphics cards. I have an rtx 2080 and a 4gb rx 480. I have so far been able to get my rx 480 to boot absolutely fine into a virtualized instance of Windows 10 using Limetech's Unraid. Where I run into problems is with Nvidia's usb controller built into their higher end cards for their virtual reality link. It kept throwing up errors at me about it not being able to separate it from the rest of the card even though I would be selecting it to add with the card. I gave up and decided to ask a friend if I could just borrow one of their rx 480's instead for the trip and temporarily trade him my rtx 2080. I have not however tried ACS override in Unraid though because somehow I missed that. I have also heard that you have to add and edited nvidia vbios if you want to use it as your main graphics output for Unraid and that there is some trickery involving making the driver not think it's virtualized. I have also heard that amd cards work fine out of the box for both of these. Since my system is entirely custom liquid cooled except for the rx 480, would it be better to just use the rx 480 as my first gpu and put the 2080 in another slot or will it be the same level of difficulty? Or am I better off just temporarily changing my loop and using two rx 480's instead?
  2. I use mayhem pastel white and I only have my computer on for about 6 hours a day and sometimes I wont turn it on for a few days and it's fine. But for extended vacations I give my computer to my friend and just tell him to turn it on for a bit every day. When I had ek clear cryofuel I never really had to worry about anything since there was nothing to keep suspended in the liquid. If you have a clear fluid then you pretty much don't have to worry about anything except yearly or so maintenance.
  3. As mentioned above just lay your computer so that the block is parallel with the floor and the fittings come straight up then it should fill the entire block. It's not meant to have a ton of flow up there so it wont fill up by itself since the air is working against you there.

  6. Based on the picture of the rev 2 it looks like the picture it looks like EK is showing pictures of the v1 on their website then... The v2 looks kind of like the spc60 pump res combo I have but that doesn't have the g1/4 port on the top. Do you know if they discontinued the v2 or something? Or have it rebranded under vector or something stupid? You would hope people would get better over time with articulating their product design but ?.

  8. I find corsairs ML 120 has kind of an annoying pitch above 1000rpm. If you want something that is essentially silent and is excellent under load then might I point you in the direction of Noctua's p12 redux? They have a 1300rpm pwm version and a 1700rpm pwm version of which I own both and I prefer the 1300rpm ones but they both go down to 300-450rpm at minimum pwm. Granted they are grey which doesn't fit every build and they are also $14 per fan but they are extremely good performing radiator fans in both push and pull and they also come with a 5 year warranty and do in fact live up to the Noctua hype.   9. The 4gb model is perfectly fine especially for 1080p. Also keep in mind that most games that are able to consume more than 4 gb of vram will start to intelligently reduce some texture detail before showing any difference in fps. During normal gameplay this is almost always unnoticeable. Also if you're buying second hand then you're probably better just buying an rx 480 instead. It performs 10ish percent better and is overall the better card. I picked up one second hand for $85 and in the US I've been seeing them for about $75 after shipping on ebay. Well I think this will be my first time ever recommending an rx 590 to anybody but for gaming which I know this isn't about the gtx 1660 and rx 590 are pretty close with the 1660 usually winning by marginal fps. In programs in which cuda acceleration is a thing then the gtx 1660 is probably the clear winner but the rx 590 and rx 580 absolutely destroy the 1660 in compute loads. Depends on what video editing software you use and exactly what you actually see yourself doing with your computer besides mundane tasks that the gt 210 could sometimes get done.
  11. If you're at 1080p then the 2060 performs pretty much identically to the gtx 1070 ti which I owned. For 1080p you don't quite get ultra on everything in that msaa is still going to push you under 60 fps if you crank it. In some games like GTA V you also have to have grass turned down as it will still cripple graphics cards if you want any msaa at all. Rise of the Tomb Raider wasn't quite able to be maxed comfortably and in Shadow of the Tomb Raider you cannot run on ultra. With that said it did handle all of them very well with a few choice settings like msaa turned down and shadows not on ultra. Another good option would be to get the 1660 ti which still does exceptionally well at 1080p if you need to save a few bucks.
  12. It comes with two g1/4 caps which supports this assumption but it would be nice if they either specified exactly how many inlet and outlet ports this top had. A 3d model of it would also be nice.

  15. Your vrm temps should be fine until probably around 125C and they're probably well below that. If the gpu is reading at 50C then that is superb. What you need to remember is that 50C is 122 Fahrenheit which is above the 109-111 Fahrenheit required to start burning the skin. Every Fahrenheit above this roughly doubles the ease of getting a burn between 6 minutes and 6 seconds. Once above this temperature range, such as 160 Fahrenheit which is only 71C, you can get burned in under a second depending on the thickness of the skin in the area and age among other factors. So while parts of your gpu may feel like they are way too hot, they are designed to run at much higher temperatures than we are. Most processors nowadays are thermally capped at about 90-95C with some components going above this.

  17. Those are pretty good temperatures. On my 1070 ti I would regularly be in the upper 70's lower 80's with it being in an rvz-03 which has two fans as intakes about an inch from the gpu.
  18. TBH with a card like the 1660 ti its probably best to just get the cheapest card that doesn't suck. It's not a very difficult card to cool and by choosing one of these below you'd be saving $50 compared to the Asus Strix card which you could put to something more worth your while. I have them listed in my personal recommended order and they're all $279 US. (side note I've heard nothing but bad things about gigabyte's customer service and based on how they handled my dead b350n mini itx board I tend to agree). OR Get a vega 56 from Sapphire which will perform at best like a 2060 and at worst within a 1660 ti.   19. Idk it's not my card so I didn't want to bother him. If we don't overclock and only crank power limit then it's fine. Its an asus strix rx 470 which in hindsight was a bad move since asus's coolers seem to always suck for amd cards but we got it pretty cheap a few years ago.
  20. You could always optimize settings too... My rx 480 does pretty well in everything and the 570 isn't terribly far off of that. In GTA V I'm getting pretty consistently 60 fps by keeping msaa at 4x with fxaa stacked on top of that with everything but grass turned to very high or ultra. ROTTR easily gets 60fps at 1080p if you use smaa instead of 2-4x ssaa. It does surprisingly well at 1440p ultrawide if you drop some settings like msaa and shadows a little bit. Another big help for this is freesync which works much better on Radeon cards than Nvidia's "attempt".
  21. Idk if the 570 has this same issue but my friends rx 470 power throttles to hell once you try to raise the power/ voltage limit and try to overclock at all. It averages out the power draw in a stupid manner where it would run at 130-150w for a while and then it would throttle back to like 30w which I think was it trying to average out the power draw to its rated 120w but in a profoundly stupid way. The rx 480 I recently got has no such issue with power throttling and idk if they fixed this on the 570 or not. It seemed to be a way to keep the rx 470 less competitive to the 480.
